Good job Alex, I subscribed to your channel. Would I, as an Australian owner of 2023 Outback Touring 2.5l, add anything? Well, yes. Since you have reviewed the mid-range model I will limit my additions to the mid-spec version called Sport here. We get a higher power tune of the 2.5l engine (183HP) with marginally lower torque (245Nm), but a flatter torque curve. So, the additions would be: Auto High Beam steering-coupled LED headlights. Wireless Apple CarPLay and Android Auto. It is easy to add icons to the first screen - I have Auto Start-Stop, Auto Vehicle Hold, and Apple CarPlay there. Hands-free power tailgate - a superb idea when you have your hands full of shopping. Coming from 3 consecutive hydropneumatic Citroens, my comments on ride comfort would be somewhat different: Excellent small bump absorption, not really good mid-size bump comfort at town speeds and excellent big hit behaviour again. Excellent on dirt roads and at highway speeds. I also agree with Rob on the points he raised.

I would disagree with your statement about it not really being good for motorway/driving on normal roads. Just done a 3000km road trip through Europe and it was a pleasure to drive. At 80mph on French motorways it was relaxed and solid. On rough Belgium roads, it laped up potholes and ridges. I also averaged 41 mpg for the whole trip. You mention the AVH system. That is not the same as hill hold , which is a permanent feature and cannot be switched on and off. AVH is a system that holds the car once you have stopped, no matter where the car is. This means that when switched on, you can come to a stop, and take your foot off the accelerator and brake, and not move. You will only move when you apply the accelerator again. It’s a useful feature in cities, but not so useful in a rural setting, hence why it is not permanently on. Without it, if you take your foot off the brake, you will creep forward. It is effectively an automatic parking brake. Xmode only works upto 25 mph and can only be engaged whilst moving, below 10 mph (if I remember). Did you mention sport mode? Useful for overtakes. Also, you can use the flappy paddles without going into Manuel mode. If you want to over take, you can “downshift” using the minus paddle meaning you don’t get the large build of revs before anything happens. Doing this temporarily puts the car into manual mode, so you need to change up as you overtake. However, after you are past, the car switches back to normal CVT operation. This is a feature many Subaru dealers do not know about, and the same with owners. It is really useful and makes overtakes less frantic.

Hey Rob, thank you for watching the video and taking the time to leave some feedback. I appreciate there might have been elements to the car I may not have mentioned, however when reviewing cars we typically only get access to them for limited period of time, this can range from one day to a week. Due to this limited time with cars, there may be from time to time some elements that get overlooked or missed out. This review reflects my time with the vehicle and due to insurance reasons, going off-road wasn't an option. Again, thank you for watching and taking the time to comment :)

Excellent. I had the previous Outback on a 66 plate few years ago. Superb comfortable car. It could fly once you got the hang of the CVT without even getting the revs up. Most videos on here show them being floored, revving the engine like crazy but it’s totally the wrong way to drive them.
