Trying to install a remote starter in a 2011 outback do I have to activated through the dealer I'm using a DS4+ with a idata t-harness basically plug and play but when I go to remote start it it activates the ignition and shuts down never cranks just wondering if I need to activate this through the dealer... I'm going to call Dei but maybe you have a similar experience with older Subarus thank you

How are you able to open the door with out the car turning off? I have a 19 with OEM remote start and if you open any door on the car it shuts down. I'm able to start the car from both remotes. Is this something you programmed?

That all depends on which remote starter you have installed, and how it is configured. Some remote starters have a setting to shut down upon any door being opened.

Thank you for this video. I was very disappointed that Subaru did not incorporate it on their key fob out the door and I found your video while searching for solutions. Quick question, does this void the warranty of the vehicle in any way if I let's say take a new 2021 forester from the dealership straight to your place to fit this in?

@@seveninchwrist2742 Is that a real stat? Im not doubting that some outbacks can be remote started with the factory remote, but my understanding was in order to remote start you needed a dealer installed remote starter which would also give you the long range fob.

@@seveninchwrist2742 Car is originally from Arizona. Im aware that the starlink features will no longer work in Mass however the 19 outback missed out on the remote start with starlink so it doesn't even matter.

@@highwaymaintainer I know at least 5 people, my husband is one, where their remote start was draining their battery. So yeah, try and remote start your car with a dead battery. No thanks. You can keep your remote start.
