The auto start stop icon is now on the front screen with the latest update and you can also place the recirculating button on the front via the settings.

I just bought that exact car (color and trim) and enjoying it immensely. It’s a very complete package and does everything well.

11:48 this conversation feels so disconnected from.... most regular people. People buy the Outback because for around 30k you can get an incredibly comfortable, quiet, spacious new car that's relatively reliable, gives you AWD, has 9" of ground clearance, and is a top safety pick, all for

Our large international podcast audience suggests that soullessness cars concern a large number of drivers. But, we hope you noticed all the positive things said about the Outback in this piece and we discussed many of the things you mentioned as valid reasons for its success. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

Audience follows the type of content, so that is self-fulfilling. Media content can also shape opinions too. original comment was a little harsh but I agree with his point-so many automotive journalists talk so much about the cvt and how it isn’t as good as an automatic: difference isn’t much. you all drive so many cars that it can be easy to lose touch a little with people who dont drive every car.
@aalokshah86553 жыл бұрын
that being said, made some good points that were helpful to me too. Point about the buttons is a good one I think.

You’re spot on about everything regarding the Outback except cabin quietness. The cabin road noise is still intrusive even with the highest trim levels. Otherwise, it’s nearly perfect for what it does.

I love my ‘21 Onyx XT - it’s for the times when I just need to get where I‘m going safely - the eyesight system is better than anything I’ve tried for stop and go traffic. The power and economy (reg. fuel) is in perfect balance. It‘s the ultimate compliment to a weekend sports car for when you want to enjoy a back road. For all other times... the outback really nails it. One more thing: the high residuals and low insurance round out this package. I was able to pick mine up for invoice @ 0% financing for 63 months. No brainer.

I love driving AND I love my 2020 Outback Touring XT - and I love the way it drives. But compared to most crossover SUVs, the Outback drive more like a car. It is NOT a sports car, get a WRX STi if that's what you want. You guys got a little whiny there.

Auto start stop is one touch now. First to touch on the bottom left. Too bad you didn’t have the update.

You guys missed something : There’s a programmable button for climate controls on that main screen. You can alternate between the AC button, the Recirculate button, and maybe something else (I can’t recall). Anyhow, mine is set to display the Recirculate button so that when suddenly a big truck appears, I can turn it on with a single touch.

Lol especially if it’s a live stock big truck,

That third programmable button choice is full auto, which for instance won't blow cold air immediately after start-up on cold days, but will automatically start blowing after a few minutes when the heating system warms.

Last year i got a used 2018 outback with the 8 inch screen with factory navigation with apple CarPlay and android auto, power rear gate, sunroof, heated seats, and the very amazing eyesight system with adaptive cruise control that is amazing in stop and go traffic and long highway trips!!....not to mention how good it is in all kinds of offroad terrain especially when you activate xmode....And I got all that for $23k! Including a 3 year/36k Subaru Gold warranty that covers everything except maintenance!!! Man I tell you what I love my outback!!!!

The irony of a car company where at one end of the showroom you've got BRZ and WRX buyers who will treat a cloverleaf as their own personal skid pad and at the other end Aunt Jane who is buying her 3rd Outback and thinks a Camry is too spicy.

Another great review! Here in Portland Oregon (where I live) Outbacks (and most Subaru models) are everywhere! Thank you for pointing out the recirc needs to be a button. Many car makers are burying hvac, radio and other common functions in touch screens when they should be physical buttons for safety sake! #givemeknobs

That's what I love about my 2018 outback it has separate physical buttons/dials for the HVAC and radio, and for xmode and Traction control.

Its odd to agree with all your points about this car yet disagree completely with your conclusion. We have two vehicles in the household...a 300+ HP 6MT hot hatch and the 2020 Outback XT you guys reviewed. Both have their own character but they are very different. The hot hatch is involving and exciting to drive. The way it sounds, grips, accelerates, allows you to steer with your right foot and urges you to push its limits is dramatic and even manic feeling. But If i want to go for a road trip somewhere, be able to have a quiet conversation with the family, and arrive less fatigued, then its the Outback. The Outback is what we use to safely get us places to do fun activities. It doesn't need to be a sports car. It needs to be a safe family hauler, comfortable highway crusier with some soft road capability to get us to trailheads and campsites, but also have enough power to pull off highway passing maneuvers without too much calculation. For all those reasons, the Outback excels. If we wanted something that could everything the Outback does and be "sporty" then we'd be looking at vehicles 2-3x more expensive, which would be arguably less comfortable and less capable off road. And those more expensive vehicles would still be less engaging to drive than our hot hatch yet cost more than both cars combined.

I'm trying to move away from my 2011 WRX Hatchback and into a little bit more practical two kid car! I"ll definitely miss a manual car but my back is trashed from the stick shift and the WRX seats! Not to mention getting old! This video was great and I am now considering an Onyx more than ever!
@CaptSavageOZ3 жыл бұрын
Honestly not everyone is a petrol head, some of us just want to turn on cruise control and want a soft ride. We also don't get upset with the CVT or the aggressive start/stop etc, but it is now a virtual button always on the display. And we don't get upset by diesel fuel fumes, because I live in Australia where there is lots of fresh air. If you are going to test drive a car, pitch your discussion at the likely purchaser, not distorted by your own preferences. I get it, neither of you will buy an outback, but a heck of a lot of us who do, don't agree with you. So no, I won't be subscribing to your channel.

The VW Alltrack would get my money (and almost did) but finding/getting the right color combo in a manual proved difficult. The dealer(s) weren't much help. Instead, had a fabulous purchase experience when I picked up my 6spd '19 WRX. Only thing wrong with the WRX, is that it isn't a wagon (or hatch).

Great review. I actually am in the market right for the Cross Trek for my sons to drive as their first car. A tad smaller than the Outback, but same concept. Rugged, don't care, get it dirty...and if you dink the fenders, you're likely to be just nicking the plastic cladding and make it look mean! I had the same response to the CVT, though the Cross Trek doesn't get a turbo, it does get the updated 2.5L NA engine, which I quite like. But, then there is the Seltos with a DCT and a turbo...hmmm....if it wasn't a first of its kind car, I'd totally jump on the Seltos, but not sure I can do it. Seems everyone should own a Subaru at some point in their lives, right?

...with a mwnual. Don't forget the manual. When ppl grow out of the WRX/STi, they have no where to go in the Subaru line up other than into blandness. A real turbo wagon (e.g. Saab 9-3/9-5, Audi S4 Avant) would be very welcome addition from Subaru

This review was so f-ing annoying. Overly critical and way too far into the weeds about things that can be rectified easily by taking the time. Anyone knows that you don’t slam the accelerator with a turbo engine and expect it to immediately gain speed. Every turbo engine has some turbo lag.
@sl59323 жыл бұрын
many other car manufacturers turbos deliver power quicker and smoother than Subaru, test drive an audi a4 as an example..
