I like your video. I don't want to hear someone's life story when trying to do a task. Yours had the perfect amount of speaking. I recommend doing a fluid flush after it's all done depending on how bad the fluid looks or how old it is. Thanks!

hi i have a couple questions: when he says fill the pump up with fluid before installing the hose, does he mean the pump itself or the reservoir? and what all goes into flushing old fluid? thank you!

Thank you. This is exactly what I needed to see so that I can replace my power steering pump.

I like your technique of sliding the nut back in the housing. I would have used a bolt and washers and a large socket to pull itback through... but your way is a whole lot easier. I'm stealing it. thanks for the video

Do you need to put the old brass collar that hold the banjo bolt on the new pump?

I know that you did filming tricks to shorten the video so I ask. How long did it take you to complete the job and did you use a rebuilt pump?
@tonyrose2692 Жыл бұрын
I did his follow along as an amateur garage mechanic. Took me about 3 hours with flushing the system as well. My skill level is self taught KZbin watching mechanic and I salvaged my pulley.

I changed one myself and I'm trying to get a seal kit to fix the old pump. What did you do with the old pump?

Best tutorial yet. Thanks man. How do i know that the pressure hose bolt hole, is aligned with the hose? Is there a mark or should i just mark it myself on the top?

Great video. I have a question. Same exact layout in my ‘07 Impreza 2.5. I put a new pump in, put some ATF oil in there as needed. Hooked up the supply and return hose. The pump squeals and steering is hard, I tried bleeding and filling my reservoir and everything. Weeks later nothing changed, each turn is hard and it whines loud. Not sure what I did wrong.
@bism66 Жыл бұрын
Could be air in the lines? I’ve read that if you have air trapped inside the power steering system, it can cause it to whine loud. I would assume it also makes the fluid pressure weaker, therefore causing your steering to feel harder. A possibility maybe?

Great video, howd you end up filling the pump before putting the last hose on?
@felicitous489 ай бұрын
I'm guessing he filled it where the top hose goes, with a funnel.

1:30 In the video it made me feel better about myself taking minutes to get that right hand clip off on air intake scoop. left one is super easy but the right ones good n stuck

Took every bolt off just like you step by step and my pump is still stuck, pivoting on another bolt. Cannot see any bolt anywhere, was there a bolt that you removed that wasn’t in the video?

@Bimmerfunf Жыл бұрын
Yes. Mine new one won’t work. It sure what I did wrong I can’t figure it out. Put oil in new pump all hoses connected. Bled the system. It doesn’t work, whines and hard hard to turn. Idk

PLEASE READ: This is a great video. BUT, it does not include torque specs for the installation of the top two hoses. NOTE: The Hose from the reservoir has a rubber O-Ring that sits nicely in the hole. This is the hose north of the pump when the pump is installed. This needs to be tightened, but not crazy. MY PROBLEM: The hose that goes to the power steering column only has two copper/metal rings. No rubber. This screw is bored out. This screw needs to be tightened a lot to prevent a leak. It is a 14mm and I used a torque wrench to torque it to about 20ftlb. It took me a while to figure this out as a first time doer. Wish he and other videos had the torque specs. Make sure bore lines up with hose.
