Great and excellent video. It was thorough and easy to understand what you were doing and why. Also, your easy going pace was outstanding. Thank you! 👍🏾

You really make me understand how to do it because I have a 2000 Subaru outback limited with black transmission fluid but now I can do it by myself

Hi! I like the calm and explanatory way you do this video, it is really nice to watch. I have a question that I have been made aware of. I've heard it is an issue that has struck many Subaru owners in the past. Have you checked that it was an actual ATF filter that you got from your supplier? Does it say "AT" or "Transmission only" on the filter? What I saw from the box of the filter was that it was an ordinary "Oil filter". If it just is a regular oil filter you will be having some driveability issues coming ahead. There is a difference in the construction of a regular oil filter and the Subaru ATF filter that gives the filter a bit of a different function than to a regular oil filter.

great video. Hand tight is about 2 ft-lbs. They say three, so hand tight plus a little bit.

Just had the idea of using an IV bag set up. Make a large reservoir and hang it on the trunk. It takes hours to drain. You can't rush putting it back in.

I could barely get the drain plug out yesterday it was so tight I need someone with muscles to get my filter off lol I reused the original crush washer but I'll check it for leaks often I don't think it had ever been serviced

In the manual it says to have the ATF just above halfway between the low and high mark...

So no internal filter to replace? Is later models internal filter instead?

QUESTION: if you drop the pan is there a filter or screen inside that need to be changed? If so, how often. Second question: How do I get the shop manual you referenced in your video? Thanks for a great video.

I see newer models need an ecu reset after this . I have a 2000 forester do I need to do anything like that or just change the fluid and filter ?😊

How about spraying the rag with brake cleaner and you should be able to control where it gets applied?

Curious if there is an alternate way of putting the fluid back? Instead of the transmission dipstick. I heard there was. But I cannot seem to find that online.
@aricampos30902 жыл бұрын

Anyone know if this would be similar with a 2006 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport?
@Spiritual_DriverAE1012 жыл бұрын
Hello everyone! Have a 2006 Outback 2.5. As I’m turning I let go of the gas. As I hit the gas again after completing my turn the trans feels like it slips/jerks. Fluid color is not that dark but still pink. Is it safe to change the fluid for better results?
@s0nnyburnett2 жыл бұрын
I've had a 98 Impreza and my 2008 Outback both do the same thing, almost always when turning when I get back on the gas I get a hard shift at low speeds. Fluid isn't dark but they always do it and as long as it shifts ok when it should be shifting up or down I wouldn't worry about it.
@wim01044 жыл бұрын
so if you can only replace half of it each time (total was 10qrts, right?), your oil will always look used, unless you go nuts with repeated drain&refills.
@frankiemoreno73203 жыл бұрын
Yeah man. I cant get my drain bolt off. I took the filter off and 2 1/2 oil came out. Every one said dont do it just leave it. My 03 forester is running Wau better and its been 4 months. Even if its a half ass job it helps with the maintenance, especially if you cant get the bolt off and have no money to pay a mechanic
