1.3L Turbo is definitely worth the money, its a vast improvement over the 2.4L Tigershark from a reliability perspective. 2.4L Tigershark to this day burns oil like crazy if you get a bad one (and there are many bad ones), there's even a class action lawsuit filled on it. MSRP on them is nuts. Wait for the rebates, etc, and you can buy a Renegade Trailhawk for under $24k many times throughout the year. As for the 'spinning the tires on wet pavement', if you had done ANY research, you'd know that its a FWD vehicle with a disconnected rear under normal driving conditions. So yes, its gonna spin the front tires once in a while. All you do is put it in 4WD and it's in 4WD...simple!

It literally has. 4WD Lock button that he points his camera at and then talks about wheels skidding out and being unsure of its 4WD... Also, not his fault, but MSRP on these is way off reality. Was in dealership yesterday and the tag price after rebates was $24,500 and included the larger screen nav option, and blindspot detection safety option installed. Add a sunroof and you can get out the dealership under $27,000 before taxes.

It's funny because the first Jeep dealer I visited said the opposite and that they don't order 1.3T versions. I bought it at another dealer that had a TH in stock on special( I got it for the same prices as a Sport 4X4). When I took it to the first dealer to do the first service, they didn't have the correct oil in stock.

I believe he was commenting on how slow the AUTO 4wd system is to react to wheel slippage. He obviously knows you can hit the Lock button, but he had it in auto and experienced wheel slippage on a wet road. I think his point was be aware that the auto 4wd will still allow significant wheel slippage..?...?

Matt, I have watched almost every review you have done from the beginning and I'm still impressed with the idea that you really don't get it in some circumstances .. not even restricted to the Jeep products. Trail-Rated=offroad capable=lower mileage=slight squirming on the road .. etc. I didn't see any offroad in the review so entire point of the vehicle was missed. This is not to be critical, but it might be prudent to remember their mission when doing "offroad" vehicles. Also, I'm not a Jeep owner at the moment, but a majority of the time, the "buy in" money is pretty well returned at resale. I drove a '95 jeep for 20 years and lost $2000 in the resale from what it cost me to buy.

I don't know why people who do these reviews say there is turbo lag on the 1.3 turbo. I test drove a 2023 Trailhawk and a 2020 Limited edition and both did not have any turbo lag with the 1.3. they both had very good acceleration. I drove a Trailhawk right after I drove the 2 liter 2023 compass, and that compass was god awfully slow acceleration compared to the Renegade. The limited renegade was so surprising quick, I blew a Crosstrek away at the light.
@Engine_biulds
@Engine_biulds Жыл бұрын
A smaller engine is actually more practical because it gets better fuel economy while in town but when the turbo kicks. You get even better economy due to power to weight and. Rotational mass ots all around cheaper. But also up in the hire rpm you get more desity more compression and there is more room to grow with tunes and upgrades with a turbo'd vehical.

Nice review. I would add the Crosstrek as a competitor. I've had one for 5 years and its a solid, well built car. I take it on the beach a lot and I used to be tentative drive in the really deep sand and ruts but now I'm not sure I can get stuck... knock on wood. The Crosstrek isn't necessarily fun to drive but it is a fun vehicle. I don't love it but I do really like it. Of the couple dozen cars and trucks that I've owned, it's the longest I've ever owned a vehicle... I'll be passing on the Jeep but not sure what I will get.

I don't see why anyone would shop Hyundai against Jeep when you can't remove the roof or take it off road. If you took the Hyundai off road, the next stop would likely be the pick a part yard.

Let’s be honest most people buying a Renegade aren’t going to take it off-roading. Most people that buy this car get it to just say they have a “Jeep” while posing with a starbucks latte in their hand for a selfie not knowing it’s a glorified rebadged Fiat product. Even if they do decide to take it off-roading, this car isn’t great if you’re doing some actually serious off-roading stuff. Most people are going to use this POS to drive around town and in that case a Hyundai would be better and more reliable overall.

@Stuffnstuffstuffer 3 жыл бұрын
It's great for living in the city but playing out in the middle of nowhere. Its easy to whip around in heavy traffic, has car comfort on long trips, and it's completely capable on the trails. So long as you keep it realistic. This jeep does just fine. Drove from SC to Texas through forest service roads and through the Ozarks and it did just fine. Crossed some creeks and climbed some rutted out muddy hills and never got stuck. Plus, the wheelbase is narrower than most so you get fresh contact on most trails if you select the right line. People get so caught up in the vehicle that they forget wheeling requiring actual knowledge and skill. Or you could just get the biggest rig and winch and just keep pulling yourself out of places you shouldn't have been anyway and then claim you're the king of wheeling. No, that makes you the king of getting stuck and getting out. Just like with everything in life, personal preference.

Matt, I think your videos might get more attention if these videos were structured a little more thematically. Many of the hottest reviewers seem to treat these videos like essays, they have their thesis about the car that they want to get out and then all of their criticisms / compliments coalesce to support that thesis. Some of the info you convey comes a little rapid fire, almost scatter shot; "X is nice but Y is not the best. A is great but B could use improvement." Also don't be afraid to be opinionated! I know its not your style to be harsh, but sometimes your messaging can be a little confusing. For instance, when talking about the handling you started by talking about how the limits are very low and the handling is poor compared to competitors, but then you ended by saying all the renegade trims handle well and that its a nice handling car.

I like the looks, what I don't like is the fact that the Tigershark engine is a oil guzzling piece of crap (class action lawsuit is ongoing), and while the 1.3T would be fine in a lighter base sport, its not powerful enough for a heavy version of the Renegade and feels sluggish with a slushbox that has too many speeds and always wants to be lugging the engine. Lastly, they have too many reliability issues with leaking sky panels and electrical gremlins.
