Sublime promised they would never re-unite in the wake of Bradley Nowell's death: unless his son Jakob was involved. Sublime took the stage for a powerful set at Coachella.

Wow. It's freaky how much he exactly sounds like his dad. Like if I just heard the audio, I would've assumed it was Sublime playing a live gig from the 90s.

It's kinda nuts because if you look into interviews with Jakob, he ended up walking a somewhat similar path to Bradley down to even an unfortunate stint with drugs which he's been well clean of since. If you check out his 2013 band LAW, he was just oozing with Sublime/Bradley influences.

Love that they are with Jakob, seems like the right fit. I don't get all the "let's shit on Rome" stuff. Sublime with Rome put out good music too. It's a shame people need to shit on either side. Not what Bradley was about.

It annoys me that it seems Jakob is actively trying to make Rome look bad. I like Rome as an artist, but I've wanted to see Jakob play with Sublime as long as I've known he has been a musician. I'm torn, I love that this happening, but hate how it's going down. Wish they could have let Rome have his farewell tour...

this reminds me of john bonhams story from Led zeppelin. when he passed away the band couldnt find another drummer with his talent, until they finally found the sound they were looking for, from joh bonhams own son. i cant wait to see what sublime does, and you know his dad is proud.

I've been to shows where the crowd reacted unfavourably to a headlining band. Brand New's final show in Chicago comes to mind. I was surprised to see how many people left after Modest Mouse played, and I heard people say they were upset MM didn't close out the show. I'm a huge fan of both bands and felt especially lucky to have been lucky enough to see BN live before they broke up. I've seen Sublime w Rome and tbh it wasn't that memorable, but I'm super excited to hear Sublime has reformed and look forward to seeing them again. This is something special!

They played a benefit show together a couple months ago. I hate how Eric bailed on Rome when Rome is obligated to play SwR shows. Then Jakob is being interviewed and making it like Rome decided to do these shows even though they have been planned for months for what is his farewell tour. I wish I could just be straight up happy about this as I've wanted it to happen for years, I just hate how it is happening...

He sounds like his dad and that's great, i just feel bad for the rest of the band who had their band hijacked by Bradley's mom and they were unable to continue for years under a name they all contributed to. She said without Bradley there is no Sublime.... but apparently that's not true now? Did he die and leave the band to his son? Don't get me wrong, love Sublime, but forcing them to not tour for years and years under the name they helped create until your son is old enough is wrong.
