This is a good point. In her position as a DA, she would know that she was in be big trouble if stopped for the officer. Fleeing the scene and being permitted to on into her home gave her the opportunity to get rid of any incriminating evidence. Also by being uncooperative, she avoided having to undergo a breath test.

My father was a police officer for 25 years 17 of them as the chief of police. The city he worked for about 5 years into his stent as the chief got a new mayor. They were cool with each other until approximately 3 years later one of his officers stopped the mayors son for a DUI. Sometime around 3AM my dad gets a call from the Mayor, she informs him of the stop and “demanded” he tell his officers to let them go and allow the mayor to drive the vehicle to her home. My father called the officer who initiated the stop and asked him for the full story. He explained it was a DUI stop, not only was the driver clearly intoxicated, there was an open container in the vehicle. He told the officer to proceed as usual and called the mayor back. He informed the mayor under no circumstances was she going to receive special treatment. At this point the mayor said to him “You have just made a big mistake against a very powerful enemy. Watch your back.” The silver lining to the story is that was on a recorded line and the mayor ultimately ended up resigning in disgrace. But the moral of the story is how disturbingly common these types of things happen. It’s sad and disgusting the amount of corruption there is in politics and law enforcement.

Doorley is an intimidator, who likley treated the police like shit, and although she has no control over the officer's employment, likely threatened them with that. Intimidation is powerful when this is your home town, you have a mortgage and a family and a potential black mark on your record. I can understand how this happens, I have seen intimidation in a few workplaces, at some point, there is a tipping point, where being fired is better than being employed.

Instead of collecting evidence and building a case against the police, she supported the defense of the police. This includes the death of Daniel Prude 3 years ago. Prude appeared to be strangled by police on camera. So it seems this was a case of "you scratch my back, I'll scratch your" . But Sandra felt that getting the speeding ticket was not getting "scratched"

I'm a paramedic and an emergency nurse, which means that this "brotherhood" also applies to me. But the thing is, _we should be held to an even higher standard of adherence than the general public_ . Cops, judges, and prosecutors should meticulously adhere to the laws that they are tasked with enforcing (unless they're responding code 2 to a call). It's absolutely crucial that those who are tasked with upholding the law and administering justice are in no way _above the law_ . And emergency/critical care medical providers (including ER & ICU staff) and fire fighters should be driving extremely carefully, because we know exactly how bad the consequences of reckless driving can be first hand. When you've seen literal decapitations of innocent victims due to the reckless driving of another person and run codes of children ejected from vehicles due to a reckless parent, then you have *absolutely no business* subjecting the public to that type of driving. Cops also work these horrific accidents, so they really have double the accountability expectation.

In New York, it is a felony - that's up to 7 years in prison, up to 5 years of probation, a fine up to $5,000, or any combination of those penalties. She needs to prosecute herself to the fullest extent of the law for her felony offense. I didn't bother with the lesser charge of reckless driving.
