Subnautica speedrun of the Glitchless Hardcore category in 1:03:37.
This run uses some new routing to reach a time I used to think was almost unattainable.

For anyone familiar with the old route, this one takes the mountain portal to the sparse reef area instead of swimming all the way there. A commenter actually mentioned this route a while back, but I wasn't able to make it as fast as the standard route until now.
Because the inventory is full after the sparse section, I can't pick up the 8 scrap metal I usually would get on the way back to the lifepod. I make up the missing metal during the shallows section, which usually means any time saved from taking the portal is lost from the extra time spent in the shallows. Still I think it's worth it because this route is more interesting to run and probably more interesting to watch too.

@@epicgamervallon3457 perhaps lad, but in the world of Subnautica, we know time passes faster on 4546B. We know this as there is a timer that appears on your, and presumably Riley’s, hud that tells you how long until the Sunbeam reaches the planet, and, while only 30 minutes pass in Earth time multiples days pass on 4546B. I may be completely wrong here but I feel like, even in the game world, time passes faster on 4546B then on Earth.

Nice one! Finally an inclusion of port to Sparse in this brilliant run, when I proposed it while ago you rejected the idea explaining that it interfere with titanium collection but you finally managed to make it work and effect is great! I was convinced all that time that this it the way to cut the time and I was experimenting with it, but since I am old and crap (same as my PC) I was only able to finish GL HC in about 1,5 h. PS. Did you already tried speedrunning 2.0? There are some issues which makes it harder, obvious limitation is that you can not move items in/out of inventory using the scroll wheel :/ Also I've found much harder (or even unable) to perform "dolphin jumps" in some places like ie. Neptun platform. I was hoping for usage of new air bladder but it seems not worth it, at least for me. I think 2.0 speedrun should be separate category since all my attempts are consistently couple of minutes longer than I was able to pull off in old game (even that game runs much smoother ie. port times are much faster for me now).

I haven't tried speedrunning it much but the new update slightly slows down seaglide speed, surface swim, and swimming up with space. Along with the scroll wheel issue and a few other things, it looks like this patch will be slower in too many ways. Not sure if there will be a new category or we'll just be down-patching.

The current patch is best for glitchless. At the moment down patching is only needed for clipping glitches.

Honestly I never figured out a good setup for the timing so it's done by feel and then corrected on the way down.

Is it really faster to scan and craft the extra purple tablet, instead of picking up the one, at 43:39, just before the shutdown room?

This route needs all 5 purple tablets I got, and I don't think getting them in a different order would save time. There's another tablet near 45:32 I could have gotten instead though which would probably save time.

I tried many times to do the lava castle dive as he does with 1 tank and can't. Even with 2 extra tanks (high capacity as his) I barely have enough air. And I see that I was diving with lead costume and palms, while he doesn't have them on him. Is that that makes a difference of simply playing on latest build where you consume more oxigen? Plus I find much less nickel and kyanite than him, was he just super lucky?

Doing the dive the way I did is just barely possible with a lot of practice. I wouldn't recommend it unless no other time saves can be found. Nickel and kyanite placements were pretty lucky in this run, which is why I saved so much time on the 3rd and 4th splits. Edit: I realized you may be trying this with only 1 extra tank. In this run I'm using 2 extra tanks; the 2nd is a standard tank crafted at the mountain base. It isn't possible with anything less without doing some alternate strategy like eating bladderfish along the way.
