** FAQ: **
Q: How do you skip the intro?
A: Hold escape when it asks you to press a button to continue. If you're on console, it will be a console-specific button instead.
Q: How do you break rocks so fast?
A: I use my mouse's scroll wheel which I set to have the same action as left-click in the game settings. The same applies to right-click.
Q: Why doesn't your food level drop?
A: If you eat while your food level is below 100, it can go above 100. The level constantly drops but the visual doesn't move as long as it's 100 or above.
Q: How did you enter that wreck without glitching?
A: The opening to the wreck with the laser cutter fragments is passable until the Aurora explodes. Before then, we can go through without clipping or glitching.
Q: How did you descend through the Lost River without a vehicle?
A: 2 high-capacity oxygen tanks, 1 standard oxygen tank, and lots of practice. Don't bother with this if you're a new speedrunner since it saves less than 30 seconds over the standard method of making a base to die and respawn with full oxygen.
Q: Why do you build empty bases / deconstruct the hatch?
A: Entering a base saves the inventory so it's not lost when I die. If I don't want to respawn at that base I deconstruct the hatch.
Q: How do you know when the Aurora is going to explode?
A: The first radiation warning you get from your PDA happens between 9:12 and 16:00 after the start of the game. Multiply that time by 5x to get when the explosion will happen. Because I can't finish the game before the explosion without glitches, I was going for a warning time 9:45 or less (about 1 in 12 chance).
Q: Why do you build the Cyclops?
A: The Cyclops is the only place you can build the shield generator needed to finish the rocket. The Cyclops has no other purpose in this run.
Q: Can you do that again without dying?

A: I've done around 3000 attempts (excluding practice). I've had fun running this in the past but this might be my last one.

Watching this really drives home a few major points about Subnautica 1.) Way more of the game is just collecting resources and crafting than you realize, cause so much of it is tied in with exploring and learning 2.) The game gives a shitload of lead when very few things actually use it 3.) Oxygen

You'll need bunches of lead if you build a halfway decent base with platforms. Also ALL the resources are excessive it just depends on which path you take. Kyanite seems rare at first until you find those places that dump tons on you then it seems like too much.

This run in particular was pretty lucky in that regard tbh, he spent basically no time collecting them. Often speedruns get held up for minutes at a time searching for them.

On my first ever playthrough, I built my base right on the edge of a Kelp Forest. Stalkers kept stealing my scanner room cameras, and I discovered a pile of 10-15 teeth under my scanner room. I had no idea how valuable they were either, I just laughed at them losing their teeth. I was getting so annoyed of my cameras being stolen!

Every single outcrop already has a set ore that comes out of it ex. if you get lead out of one, no matter how many times you play the game that outcrop will always be lead. He probably memorized every single outcrop's ore and location

@@Yeti-yk8cj actually it doesnt work like that, its more like this: Every outcrop has something called a resource bucket, as an example the limestone's resource bucket is: 1 copper 1 titanium Each time you break a lime stone, either titanium or copper gets chosen, then it is pulled out of the bucket. This process continues until the bucket is out of ores, so 50/50 between copper and titanium, then you always get the other one, and then a 50/50 again. With sandstone it is a bit different, If i dont remember wrong, the bucket is: 3 lead 3 silver 2 gold Once you pull out the 8, the bucket resets, If you get 2 gold you cant get more until the bucket resets, same with silver and lead Im bad at explaining, but its not that complicated

In my experience the only consistent way to avoid a sea dragon that has targeted you is to get behind it, so that's what I was doing there. That little maneuver might have been a little excessive though and almost killed the run.

Absolutely love your content, excuse my ignorance...but how do you know exactly where the entrance to the lost river cave is by just floating above water? At one point you were gliding the surface and just seemed to know exactly where to drop down with zero landmarks or reference.

The setup is around 24:28 of the video where I swim to a large bulb plant and then aim at an even larger one in the distance. This lines me up perfectly as long as I don't rotate the camera left or right while I go up for air. Then I swim for a certain amount of time while keeping the camera straight and end up directly over the entrance.

There really is not much you can shave off this run - time depends on the moment Aurora explodes. If there is some way to get to the Captains cabin before Aurora explodes WITHOUT glitching then maybe....

Yeah you're right. Some things I do after the explosion can be moved earlier in the run but otherwise the explosion time puts a hard limit on how low we can go. At the moment a 55 minute run might be possible but not really practical. A 56 might be the lower limit until new ideas are found.

The route avoids reapers as much as possible. You can usually see 1 or 2 at the edge of the screen at certain points but in this run they decided not to show up.
