Well, they finally updated the logo. I say “finally” because we were all waiting for it after Adobe bought substance. The new logo truly, truly sucks ass. Thanks Adobe! I’m excited for the possible new features, but seriously. The logo didn’t need to be changed, and what it’s been changed to is beyond trash.

What a stroke of genius those new logos are, where the different "logos" are virtually indistinguishable from each other, and you have to read the letters to be able to tell which is which. And that is coming from the developers of design software... Yeah, its just a logo. But "assimilated into the brick wall" is what someone called this in the comments somewhere, and that is exactly what this symbolizes...

Can you please give us a shortcut to open the color pallet? What's exactly taking you years to implement this basic functionality? It boggles my mind that a software that's called "Painter" is not having a shortcut to open the color pallet. It makes the process extremely slow and methodical, especially in handpaint projects. For this one feature, I am considering getting 3D coat. I really hope you guys implement it soon.

I'm trying to figure out why my colors are off in the Suede (boot) and Climbing Rope (laces) smart materials. I've double-checked the colors I'm using, and they seem to be matching the ones from the tutorial. The colors seem okay in all the other materials though. For example, the light yellow (E0A016) looks really orange on the boot and laces of my model, but it looks okay on the wheels. For what it's worth, I'm using Adobe Substance 3D Painter 2022 (Steam Edition).

I was curious how he grouped subtools inside each of them (Upper, lace and base). How to make an FBX with several subtools identical to the project (roller)? I tried FBX and OBJ in zbrush with various settings using 3 subtools Upper, Lace and Base, as in the project above, but they never get subgroups or polygroups.

after they are merged you can just use Tool > Polygroups> Autogroups to get back subgroups if that’s what you mean.

@@royeshusni5915 zbrush. since that was the software he was referencing in the question. there's also a function to create polygroups in ZBrush using UVs. Tool > Polygroups> Auto Groups with UV. I have no idea what it would be in Maya, or Substance. I think Maya is Mesh>seperate, idk if you don't have polygroups on the model already I don't think it will work, and then in substance, I don't think you can do any modeling function, that I'm aware of.

You should at least make the logos consistent with your products, everything is now called Substance even the trash adobe dimension and still you made the logos random letters?. . . Keep it consistent Substance Painter = "Sp", Substance Designer "Sd", Substance Sampler "Ss", the new Substance "modeler" which looks like more like an sculpting tool not a modeling, should be "Sm" the remaining thing Substance Stager aka Adobe Dimension name it whatever you want no one use that thing xD. But the original Substance Product keep it consistent not what is it now Pt? Sa? Ds? Sg? Md? does not make any sense.

In Substance 3D Painter, pressing shift+right mouse button can only rotate the ambient light left and right, can't rotate the ambient light up and down, can you increase the function of rotating the ambient light up and down? Or increase the function of custom lighting, and then increase the function of model wireframe rendering, thank you!

Hello! With Marmoset, you will be using Metallic/Roughness workflow and you can export the default channels from Painter. Go to File>Export Textures and choose Document Channels + Normal + AO (No Alpha).

How do I split my mesh into mesh parts in Blender so that it's easy to mask it just like in this tutorial? When I assign a different material slot to a part of my mesh in Blender, it creates a new texture set list for Painter. So how do I further divide the mesh into parts, like "nuts", "bolts", etc? Late reply but to anyone who needs it, you select all of the faces/ edges/ vertices you want split in edit mode (you can sometimes do this with the “L” key plus LMB if you made the mesh originally with separate parts before joining them) and then hit “P” on your keyboard and separate the selection. Just make sure you have all individual parts selected when you export the mesh from Blender. It’s also a good idea to rename the separate parts with F2 on the keyboard if you have a multitude of them.

in the example they didn´t use any low poly mesh...in the fbx there´s only high poly...so the software uses only the UV as reference to create the textures. If you download the example FBX you can investifate further.

There's a way to manually fix the dependencies but I can't remember where I saw it at this particular moment, I believe the folder location changed and it's as simple as moving the old to the new but I could be wrong

Problem is, having time to do that, I couldn't afford the time to fix the dependencies for every material I've made for my current project just because Adobe felt like forcing a new version onto us and ditching the launcher... I don't know if it's still possible to adquire the launcher "legally" but for me it was already too late, I've moved on already with it and found another solution. Hopefully in the future we will see some open source software capable of creating a similar workflow to what Allegorithmic did with substance, because we all know that depending on Adobe's future plans for their software isn't a good idea at all... You know what's better than having colors selected from a random browser tab? Being able to load palettes and have a color Swatch history.... Seriously algorithmic never fixed this really zero excuse for Adobe not too. Also add different color wheels... How about allow the object to be rotated (not just orbiting with camera) and let us manually add lights while your at it. That 20$ extra a month that isn't covered even if you subscribed to the ALL APPS in CC should go to something. But I'm guessing you'll add some weird AI filter novelty instead....

I hope we'll get more updates for the 2021 version because as a hobbyist I simply can't afford monthly subscription plans if that's where this is going :(
