So glad to see Alchemist fully released finally. I've been using it for my work since I got it and my boss thinks I'm magical now with how fast I can pump out changes to materials.

as someone who invested Into this software "before it was cool" I really feel left high and dry. I remember back when "designer" was "mapzone", i still have a copy btw. and i bought both designer and painter when they were still in beta. now fast forward and there are finally good tutorials out now but I cannot even follow along because half of the options are not available to me and now when I've decided it might be time for an upgrade my only option is to buy it off steam. sorry that does not work for me. I cannot do the subscription models as I'm just a hobbyist I dont make money off this. in the beginning I was one of the guys to rave about substance. now I'm thinking of making the jump to quixel.

Awesome! I am applying these materials to objects in Dimension but it is flat, the relief is lost. How can I make the material not flat?
@Substance3D4 жыл бұрын
Dimension doesn't support displacement at this time. You would need to tesselate the mesh in a 3D program and import the tessellated mesh into Dimension. We know this is a big issue. Working on this : )

Este programa es una maravilla, potentisimo..
@Di5functi0n3l_playp3n7 ай бұрын
wow. its nice to see how many good things about this program were removed from it. so many useful things. i could recreate something like what you showed in the current substance sampler, but a few things just didnt work the same at all. the pavement pattern for instance is now just a pavement, and it has access to some patters, but the starter content is all different, and the settings for most of the effects are stripped down and less functional in the current version, not to mention, the collection thing would be nice to have, a quick way to save the mat and have it in sampler. but ya know, adobe thinks we all want to use 55 different programs in our workflow, instead of just one that we can do it all in. so im sure those features were split between the 5 adobe programs that have the substance name, which could all be one integrated working program with dedicated modes, but i mean who would want that? anyhow the tutorial should be taken down i think honestly because what your explaining mostly would only confuse the hell out of a beginner.

This is a fantastic software as all Substance products but I just have one little nag. The viewport looks like it's lacking in PBR detail because even with shadows it looks super flat, it almost looks like it's albedo only. I hope this is something you will make better because it does not make the software justice when it looks so bad.

Errmmm is there a way to use blend modes together with the weathering filters like water dust and dirt etc?
@Ricardo-de9ju2 жыл бұрын
Simple question, when it wil support SSS? Those materials for long shot views are great, but for close-ups lacks a lot of realism.
@Substance3D2 жыл бұрын
It already does SBS but with just bitmaps, I assume you mean proper SBS support? We're looking into this and are progressing with it. As for detail I'm not sure how you judge it: you can export at higher resolution, you can use more detailed and better height displacement and tesselation, or you could spend 10 times as long building your own material from scratch in Designer if that's what you prefer. Sampler is meant to be fast and easy!

It doesn't supports all the sbsar files....(which uses diffuse instead of base color)... It simple appears black.... sometimes the material disappears when the shadows are turned on.... Please fix these..... Overall it's good tool .. Thanks substance team...
@Substance3D4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this feedback. We currently have diffuse/spec disabled. We found several issues during the beta so we need to rework this and will reintroduce the spec/gloss workflow in a future update.

I have a entry tower that is round and has a round ceiling that I want to show wood planks in a circular pattern around the center of the tower. Is this possible?
@D0nKeY4 жыл бұрын
for a bit more flexibility, you may want to use substance designer. especially if you want planks is difference forms. You could however create the base material in alchemist then tweak it in Designer

note... at 50 seconds in, when you say, "lets make sure we are on the same page" ... that statement didnt age well.. just saying. and theres no way anyone can be on the same page as you ever again lol. this tutorial is still somewhat valid, but the interface is totally different now. im going to try and follow it in sampler and see how much still applies.

You can export the material as a set of textures that can be used in Mari or with a V-Ray material.

Hello! How can I do Glass material with Substance Alchemist? Could you explain, pleeeease? Thank you so much.
@Substance3D4 жыл бұрын
We don't have a proper shader for handling glass. A workaround for now would be to use the opacity shader to mimic glass but you will not have the proper refraction.

no matter how hard you try, you can't make orange juice from apples. So use both (orange-apple mix). Combine procedural features of substance with megascan textures from quixel. No one prevent from doing that in shader.
