the problem i have with this endresult is, that the pattern is repeating itself way too dominant with the dark spots. but those dark spots are also giving some interesting variation. is it somehow possible to have these dark tiles at different places every tiling?

The exported “sbsar” format to substanc painter can have adjustable parameter options? like substance designer

It does not at this time. The sbsar file packaged the textures. You can export as SBS which will create a project file with the textures connected to the outputs. You can then add nodes to extend procedural effects in Designer. In the future, we will have more to offer with sbs : )

When I insert the original image size, I don't get a square image anymore when re-activating the cropfilter layer :( It will just insert black gaps in the image. Does not work for me unfortunatley. Only if I match X and Y I can get a square image. Any idea why that could be? 03:00

We renamed it to Image to Material (B2M) because we now have Image to Material (AI Powered)

Iam having the opposite problem Wes had when he imported his non uniform image in. When I import the image it gets automatically transformed to a square shape, which I don't want. Is there a way to force Alchemist to work with non uniform textures? Thanks!

Are you starting with the Use as Bitmap option before the Image to material? I first import the image as a bitmap and use crop with the original input image resolution. This way, I crop to square but do so without distorting the image.

how do you snap the transform manipulator? at 10:55 it looks like you are just freehand rotating it.

There is not a snapping feature for the transform at this time. I was just freehand rotating : )

What format is the best for picture ? for export later to substance painter

You can use the sbsar file format which can be imported into Painter. You can also use any of texture formats like PNG. If you use the sbsar format, it will give you a single file that contains all of the map channels. When you import this into Painter, you can tag the sbsar file as a base material and it will appear as a material. Then you just drag and drop it to your layer or on the mesh and it will create a fill layer.

Hi What if i want to make my own tile .. with custom tile i draw it in my autocad & convert it to image .. how i can to insert it in 3d sampler !?

What about The source image, did i need some pro tools to get it, or its just a simple image? Can i use my phone to get the image ?

how can I use the material in ue4 , because you substance's use displacement map and there is no one in ue4 so it doesn't give me the effect I want if u can explain ????

You can work with displacement in UE4. If you export as sbsar and user our plugin for UE4, there is a displacement template. Here is how you can set it up manually. docs.substance3d.com/display/integrations/Working+with+Displacement

Yes you can export the maps or the sbsar file that can be imported into Painter

I think you are mixing it with the Painter shortcuts, they're not the same in Alchemist.

It does. Bitmap2Material is part of Alchemist as a filter.

The bitmap to material is a filter that is added to the layer stack. If you search the filters, you don't see bitmap to material?

What´s the difference between "Bitmap to Material" and "Use as Bitmap"? :)

It's in the name. B2M loads the bitmap and then generates other channels from it to make a full material. Use as bitmap just loads it as a bitmap and nothing else, so less steps happening automatically if you'd want to do things likea crop or adjustment on only the bitmap.

Substance Thank you for your fast response :) So if I understood it correctly, you could do basically the same in both modes, they are just „presets“ and it‘s possible to create a fully functional material too if you started with „Use as Bitmap“, is that right? The other way round I can also make adjustments, crops onto the image if I started with B2M?!

Yes, one is just a bit more automated then the other. Alchemist is about being fast so we provide one-click options.

Bitmap to material will take the source image and create a material by creating all the map channels from the single source image. Use as bitmap allows you to import the single bitmap to use in the layer stack.
