I know at this point this is a fairly old video so you personally won't have much use for this information, but to others wanting to start to learn the Wavestate the same way you can actually set it to a simpler mode from the start, by pressing the "Wave Sequence Select" button up by the Layers, you can switch layer mode from "Wave Sequence" to "Single Multisample", which disables all the lanes and creates the initial setup you got to after 5 minutes of turning off steps and crossfading in this video.

Thanks for the tip. I think that’s the simplest way to use just one wave sample.

great tutorial, I actually use the Wavestate like this a lot. It sounds just as good as my analogs. I did feel like watching the Netflix series Norsemen though :D

Thanks 😊. I’m starting to learn proper wave sequencing now, but the classic analog style sounds the Wavestate can make are actually quite good 😀.

I have the original Wavestation - the Wavestate is both easier in theory to use with all the extra knobs, and then much more complex to program in another way due to the multiple lanes of control in the sequences. One that will reward those with patience.
@Waveformer4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. The knobs make it much easier both to program and then to modify the sound as I jam. I’m really happy with this synth 😀.

Yes, just keep in mind that using the wavestate as a standard virtual analog synth is like using a Volvo FH16 truck to drive the kids to school.

I just wanted to explain something about korg. korg is very good with separate parts in combination (called "combi" in korg workstations). The wavestate has what you can say is 4-part combi. you can set it up like 4 independent synths. external or internal. you can globally clock the wavestate but set MIDI channels to either play from outside or only the wavestate or let the wavestate clock itself. your circuit could play and clock the wavestate AND you could also play the wavestate from its keyboard on the other channels. I can't wait to hear your new music when you integrate the wavestate
@Waveformer4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the 4 separate layers make the Wavestate very powerful. I’m looking forward to sequencing it with my Circuit. I’m going to make a small web application that maps Circuit’s mod knobs into the Wavestate mod knobs, so I can control more of the Wavestate from the Circuit sequencer. I’m also thinking of using my old EPS 16+ sampler as a midi keyboard to control the Wavestate. It has poly aftertouch, which the Wavestate can listen to and I can set up modulations for that. Lots of things to experiment with 😀.

Dear Korg! Please help me and if you could me explain the difference between Damper pedal for Wavestate and sustain. As I could know damper input could assign and modulation parameter to my pedal? Is it right? Thank you so much for your hard working! Hello from Tallinn 🙏🙂

Your tutorial and youtube channel is super, But for example in this video is to much loud sound from keyboard opposite to your comments (your speak). Maybe next time please more balance this in mix. After this me very like your all music. I listened your music from Bandcam...and very nice emotional music without Borders. I like this.

I have been going through your video slowly and setting up my korg to follow what you are doing. I think i have found the ultimate "dummy mode". If you press the "wave sequence select" button and set the mode to "single multisample" all the lanes go away and you now have a digital minilog. lol. the normal arp/env/effects all function like a regular synth. It seems global sequencing has to be externally controlled. I can only seem to find controls for the sequence lane, which is disabled, but the arp latches and plays.

Yes, but I tried that after setting up my synth as in this video, and as I understand it, you can't choose the raw synth waves in Multisample mode, because they aren't multisamples
@jjrusy74383 жыл бұрын
@@RoHen-pw5ol where are these "raw synth waves" found as opposed to the list of multisamples? My understanding is that the multisample is the basic building block for all sounds. My idea was to treat the multisample like any normal synth oscillator or wavetable or whatever starting sound they use before further processing. That way a new user could learn the other parts of the wavestate before learning wave sequencing. sry for the confusion.
@MrClarkio3 жыл бұрын
jj rusy I think you're right about it being a good way to feel your way into the synth, but, Multi-samples on the wavestate, whilst the building blocks for some sounds are definitely not the building blocks for all sounds. Multi-samples = no lanes = no wave sequencing. Plenty of good sounds to be had this way but of the more simple type with envelope and lfo modulation only. Having said that the modulation options on this synth border on insane so it's not that much of a limitation.

Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate that. I didn’t have a script for this one, and it wasn’t very well planned, so it’s kind of slow moving and I juggle the words a bit. Writing down everything I say beforehand takes quite some time, and I rarely have the time to do that. I had been publishing fewer and fewer videos this spring and summer, so I just wanted to push myself to create something, even though it’s far from perfect. I’m very inspired by the Wavestate, and very much enjoy exploring its many possibilities. I hope to make many more videos with it, as I learn more and more how to use it. Thank you for watching 😊.

Thanks for the video. Is there a way to use the three parts to replicate a 3 osc synth so the filter and envelopes affect all three parts at the same time (like a moog).without mapping to performance controls .It would take 8 just to map the filter and amp envelopes for example.
@Waveformer3 жыл бұрын
No, that’s not possible. You would have to use the performance mod knobs, as you suggested.
@felipefs1062 жыл бұрын
I was looking for this type of approach. Can each layer combine two "samples" or sound sources? and then use each layer like a multitimbral synth (separate per midi channel) ?
@Aetila4 жыл бұрын
I'm a lazy musician, I just want to hold one chord and let the synth do the rest making some good ambient music lol, so the Wavestate would be perfect to have. :-)

Nice tutorial, but I dont see the point. Wavestate is a well, a wavesequencing synth, fully digital, and if you are interested in classsic subtractive synths, there are dedicated models - starting from Minilogue onwards. Wavestate can do wonders with custom samples and wavesequencing , as well as layering. Use it where it shines the best.
@Waveformer2 жыл бұрын
You’re right, of course. The wavesequencing features are what really sets it apart from the rest. This video is basically me learning how to use the filters, envelopes, LFOs etc. on this thing. I wanted to learn the basics before I dove into the more advanced parts. In my later jams, I use the different sequencing lanes to control the filters and envelopes, in addition to the samples.
@earlsfield2 жыл бұрын
@@Waveformer sorry, I did not mean to criticize, I support all content creators - even more so, I did the same thing when i got my Wavestate, as I have old Wavestation too, I basically wanted to hear raw sine and try out filter models. To be honest they modeled MS 20filter fairly accurate (not a case on Hydrasynth tho). So yeah at one point I was doing exactly what you did in this video - I am just expecting to see clever wavesequencing this synth allows for, as old Wavestation has certain limitations Wavestate does not have - I mostly impressed how they brought wavesequencing to another level with autonomy of the lanes.
@Waveformer2 жыл бұрын
@@earlsfield Yeah, this thing is really deep. I especially love having sequence lanes with different length, so you get polymeter effects between pitch, sample, filters, etc.

This was helpful, but you could dial back the ads a bit. I don't mind watching a couple, and you deserve to get paid; but two ads every three minutes is more than a little obtrusive. Cheers!

Sorry about that. KZbin sometimes goes wild with automatic ad placement. I have set the number of in-video ads to 4. Hope that isn’t too annoying. Thanks for letting me know! 😀
