@@SuburbanK9DogTraining black lab! he was my assistance dog for 3 years up until a woman brought her aggressive pet dog into a store and her lead broke, dog charged right up to us and pinned him down, he developed fear reactivity afterwards and would blow up at every dog he saw, even when they were miles away! finally gotten to the point where he walks past them no issues, with no help to the off lead dogs running over to us :P

@@nimbob19 I am so sorry to hear that! We avoid leashes that have cheap silver clips for exactly that reason! They break a lot and are a danger. We only recommend leashes with solid brass clips on them. I hope you keep moving forward and making progress!!!

Where I live, we have a 'red collar & leash = reactive dog' code. Is that a thing where you are?

We are located across the USA, so I think it varies quite a bit. We often see harnesses, collars, or muzzles that say "do not pet". Where are you from?

They are not my favorite tool but they can be used well for certain dogs. I generally just use them for fearful dogs that aren't comfortable walking on leash. The main issue with harnesses is that they are generally used to allow animals to pull. Sled dogs, draft animals etc. When you use them to try and stop leash pulling then they don't work very well and create a lot of unneeded stress for you and the dog. That being said, if you have a local trainer that uses them and can demonstrate good results then you could certainly give it a try.

Hey Kevin! I would recommend having him wear a vest, bandana or harness in public that says "Service Dog - Do Not Pet". It will definitely limit the number of times that happens.
