Just got my dual PB2000 Pros set up over the weekend. They are unbelievable subs!! They are absofrigginlutely worth the money! Watched the intro to Live, Die, Repeat at reference levels. The neighbor came over to see what the hell I added to my theater. Said he was feeling the bass in his house. They replaced a 20-year-old, single, Velodyne 15" sub. Best money I have spent so far upgrading my HT. Thanks for the very detailed review.

Question for you: Two SB-2000 Pro's vs. Two SB-3000's? Which wins on the quality of bass? Output?
@mikegoddard73544 жыл бұрын
depends on your room size in cubic feet, if it's a room with a door or living room style all make a huge difference. WXLXH = cubic feet. Check the general recommendations for room size.

Somehow I missed this comment. Dual SB-3000's will do a better job in every way, as dual SB-2000 Pro's are just a little less in pretty much every measure. I don't usually listen to sealed subs, but knowing the trends in the SVS subwoofer line, I have no reason to believe otherwise.

@@Subwoofer101 Would you say the same for "P"B-2000 Pro vs "S"B-3000? I ask since they are currently both about the same price. Would the upgrade "make up" for the fact that it's a sealed sub? Finally! A review of the pb2000 pro! Thx! I disagree with the av receiver analogy though, especially in 2020. You definitely will get many more audio video quality options with the higher end receivers than the budget models.....things like hdmi 2.1, Dolby Vision, HDR10, VRR, Imax enhanced, Auro 3d, Audyssey room correction, etc. etc. that you won't find with the cheaper models. If you have the gear to take advantage of those things, the audio/video difference will be massive, much as it would going from a budget 1080p tv to a 2020 4k lg b/c series and up oled.
@Subwoofer1014 жыл бұрын
I agree with your point. I was thinking just in audible differences. Still, given the choice between a cheaper X3300 AVR and dual Pro's, or a X6500 and basic subs, I'd go with the X3300 and Pro combo all day long.

Great review. I got it when released. Spent since then tweaking the PEQ to rise the 15db 50Hz dip. Could only raise it a few db but SVS said not to have too much +db. Today I had a play with phase and the polarity. Phase did nothing but switching to negative polarity raised the dip by around 5db and also raised 20hz and lower making sub sound warmer and definitely better. I felt sofa vibrate al low levels. When I run a freq sweep all frees sound same so trusting ears not miniDSP and rew. Only problem with sub is I've been awake all night many nights watching film after film. Best upgrade I've made.

Snagged two PB-2000's from the outlet and couldn't be happier. I EQed them using Equalizer APO (everything plays from my HTPC, it offers a 32 band EQ for each channel) in combination with REW and a UMIK-1. They are flat down to about 14hz in my room and even have pretty good output down to 10hz, just insane for ~$500. It was really down to PB-1000 Pro or PB-2000 and the PB-2000 seemed like the obvious choice, didn't seem like the PB-2000 Pro was worth ~60% more. Maybe if they have some heavier discounts on the Pro within the next year I'll move up. Any idea if the metal grill from the original 2000 fit on the Pro?

How important is it to get a front-ported sub away/off the front wall? This is the only concern with going PB-2000 Pro, it will be about 2" away from the front wall. Will it matter as much as it has with my past rear-ported subs? The SB-2000 Pro I can get around 8" away.

I've been watching this channel for years, and I've always wanted to try SVS. Now that one of my Klipsch subs died, I replaced both with PB-2000 Pros. I couldn't be happier with them. However, I'm wondering if I'm sensitive to infrasonics. I feel the pressure you've described getting from sealed box subs. I've only had the SVS subs for a day, so it may just take some fine-tuning to maybe mitigate that ear pressure.
@Subwoofer1014 жыл бұрын
Congrats on your new Pro's! Something I've noticed with infrasonic bass is that for me, it all seems to be about balance. The ratio of infrasonic bass to audible bass. I won't bog you down with my complete thoughts on it, but I'll tell how I adjusted the Pro's to deal with the infrasonic issue. Hop into the SVS app, and go to the Parametric EQ, and activate 1 PEQ to the following values: Frequency= 29 Boost= +6 Q Factor= 2.5 After that, you might need to adjust the gain a little, or not, it depends on your preference. It could also be the way room correction set things up, or a few other things like having seating too close to walls, but give that a shot first. Hopefully that will get the balance right. I also highly recommend my Distance Hack. Let me know how that goes!
@Empyre47AT4 жыл бұрын
@@Subwoofer101 I will give that PEQ adjustment a shot. Audyssey did a great job with everything except the subs. I had to use the gain and distance hacks for those. Thinking of trying REW at some point as well. Anyway, thanks for the reply and for the adjustment tip.

The Distance Hack, Crossover Hack, Adjusting Subs By Ear, and unlocking your Blu Ray player are really beneficial too. Curious what you think after you get the Pro's in. I would always stick to duals that are matched. The PB-1000 Pro's are basically what the original PB 2000's were, but with more tunability with the app. You would notice more impact with the PB-3000's, but I wouldn't run it single. If you're going to get a second PB-3000, go for it. Otherwise I would prioritize dual subwoofers.

Hi guys I actually own a single Rel HT 1205. Let me tell you that Rel is very detailed and refined compared to SVS pb 1000 i used to own. Ok pb 1000 did go lower (19hz) and made us feel the scenes below 21 hz, but thats the only praise i can honestly give it. Other than that, compared to the Rel SVS was boomy and one note, for example there was a night club scene with loud music and i could not work out the conversetion that was being had, but once i changed to the REL the same scene was so much cleaner (still loud) but i could hear and understand the speech going on in the club scene. Not just only that, but in so many aspects of all movies i watch i smile and realised i made the right choice. Guys trust me, just to feel some parts ( not many ) in certain movies you really dont wanna spoil the rest of the movie with boomy one not bass. You shoul enjoy all parts of a movie with a subwoofer not just some parts. Also Rel has been making only subwoofers for years, dont you think they now how to make ported subwoofers for movies, there is a reason why they dont go down that root, and that is because they put QUALİTY, DETAIL and SPEED of sound first.

Ok, one last question of advice. I have the PB 1000 and was going up get the PB 1000 Pro but now I'm thinking of making a bigger step up to the PB 2000 Pro. Would you say that's a huge, huge step up? There is a Rythmik sub that is in the same price range but SvS is more convenient in a lot of ways to buy from.
@Subwoofer1013 жыл бұрын
The PB-2000 Pro is worth the extra money in my opinion, if it's not a big financial burden for you. The PB-3000 and the PB-16 Ultra are better, but I would only suggest those for people who easily have the means. This is true about most audio: Diminished returns. The more you spend, the less dramatic the improvement is. The difference between an $80,000 vs $1,000 speaker is not nearly as big as a $100 vs 1,000 speaker. Sometimes, you can even go backwards in sound quality, but that's another topic. In my opinion, diminished returns start AFTER the PB-2000 Pro's. So going from typical subwoofers to the PB-1000 Pro's is DEFINITELY worth the money spent. Going from the PB-1000 Pro's to the PB-2000 Pro's is another big noticeable step up. More explosive. It's undeniable. The PB-3000 and PB-16 Ultras are definitely better than the PB-2000 Pro, but for the money, you're in the same ballpark of truly premium level bass. You get a big improvement in explosiveness between the PB-1000 Pro to the PB-2000 Pro. You get obvious improvement in the higher models, absolutely, but the cost vs amount of improvement in the SVS line will be the most dramatic between the PB-1000 Pro and PB-2000 Pro. PB-1000 Pro= full audible depth and awesome price point. Room filling and powerful. PB-2000 Pro= All of the above, but a noticeable step up in explosiveness. More dynamic headroom. You get more explosive as you go up, but the price difference is bigger, vs how much more explosive it is. I think the PB-16 Ultra is worth it, but not if they're killing you financially. It's like cars and acceleration. Going from 5 seconds to 2.5 seconds is a lot more expensive than going from 7.5 seconds to 5 seconds. 5 seconds is a LOT of fun.

You mention that a pair of PB-3000's are worth the extra cost over the PRO's, would there be a noticeable difference if the volume is never maxed out? My family usually watch movies at a comfortable listening volume of 80-90dBs. Just curious if the 'quality' of bass would be any different between the two at the same dB level.
@Subwoofer1014 жыл бұрын
That's basically the difference as you go up in price with SVS, more powerful bass at regular listening levels, despite not listening any louder than you normally would. Of course there is more output potential, but dual PB-1000's have enough output for me, so that's never been my issue. Just more explosive. If you are trying to save some money, Dual PB-2000 Pro's will be VERY satisfying. Dual PB-3000's just have have even more explosive goodness. It's not like it used to be, with a huge difference between the original PB-2000 and the PB-3000. If that was the case, I would say stretch your budget if you can, because the difference is so significant. With the Pro's, I'm not as strong on that position. They really are premium subwoofers at this price, so you are still getting that premium impact. The PB-3000 is just better. If you order direct, you have a year to upgrade too. Hopefully that helps!

I have 2 Klipsch RP- 8000f and RP- 504C, which of these two subwoofer. Would you recommend? (SVS PB-2000 PRO subwoofer with the Klipsch SPL-150) Thanks for your help
@Subwoofer1013 жыл бұрын
Klipsch is getting better with the SPL series, but without question, the PB-2000 Pro's are going to be a better sub in general. You can look at wattage, cabinet build, adjustability using the PEQ function in the app, and so on. It's simply more advanced. Klipsch is so popular that I'd love to see their subs on my list. It would probably double my subscription base. But they aren't there just yet. The big thing to be aware of is that if you let room correction set the subwoofer level, the Klipsch will likely sound louder. It's because of the difference in response curves. Because SVS subs dig deeper, the Max SPL is at different places on the response curve. Where a typical subwoofer will peak around 40-70 hertz, ported SVS subs typically peak around 20-25 hertz. Point being, you'll get a more explosive experience with the SVS, but you need to turn them up to get them properly integrated. Room correction is built for the vast majority of subwoofers. Shallow. Lastly, it might not seem like it, but dual PB-1000 Pro's will do better than either the Klipsch or the PB-2000 Pro as a single. But dual PB-2000 Pro's are phenomenal for the price. Truly premium bass, with more impact than the PB-1000 Pro's, which are clean, powerful, and as deep as you can hear. The PB-2000 Pro's are just more shocking, when called for. Follow my Bass Hack video series, and your home theater will truly come alive.

I'm now in a quandary if I should look at one PB 16 ultra or still go with two PB2000 pros for about the same price? The pros are smaller and I would not likely be able to obtain another 16 ultra. So there's where I'm at. The ultra is only 6 months old and in great condition.. What are your thoughts? I would really like a pair of 3,000s but that's outside my budget as well..

Me? I would go with the PB-2000 Pro's ALL DAY LONG. I'm not guessing. I LOVE the PB-16 Ultras, make no mistake. AWESOME sub. Incredible realism and explosiveness. BUT, duals are vital in my opinion. If you don't see yourself being able to get another PB-16 Ultra soon or at all, the PB-2000 Pro's are the way to go. If you get them factory direct, and you can trade up within a year, if you feel the need. My affiliate links in the video description are factory direct. But I've had a single PB-16 Ultra while I waited for the matching sub, it was months. I preferred dual PB-2000 Originals over the single PB-16 Ultra. But dual PB-16 Ultras are breathtaking. Duals make that big of a difference.

I want a sub more for music than for a home theater setup yet I listen to a lot of bass heavy electronic music that reaches down to the lowest of frequencies (not mid ranged electronic music that's more main stream). It seems like the consensus online is that the SB is better for music and the PB is better for home theater due to its larger output and lower frequency range. How ever the response on the PB seems to be almost as flat as the SB. I would be doing most of my listening in a small bedroom that's about 10x10ft and a living room that's 20x20ft. I also produce music a little bit and want an accurate sub.

@Sly foxxx Sweet! Thanks for the reply, I actually broke and ended up getting the sb. I will say it is very tight and accurate but doesn't quite have that punch at 20-30hz which I believe the Pb's ports are designed to amplify. Might return and get the pb. One quick question, how have you found the Pb's "sealed mode" to proform? I feel like if its sealed mode is a major difference in sound settings the pb ends up being the best of both worlds. Again, thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the video. This is on my short list for sub models I'm considering. One thing I've really been wondering about is whether I'm going to heard port noise with this sub. If I go dual as you suggest and I plan to do, one of the subs will be close to the listening position in the back left of the room while the other will be in the front right. That is how my room is wired and how I'm setup currently with lower end subwoofers that I want to replace. My main reason for wanting to upgrade is the "wind/air" noise I hear from the ported sub near my listening position and I'm still a little concerned that a much more expensive SVS ported sub will have the same issue. Is that an unfounded concern?

Hello 101, I need some advice. I have 13' x 17' x8' (W x L x H) room that is a dedicated media room with projector and Denon AVR X4500. I have outlaw LFM1 subwoofer that leaves a lot to be desired (maybe not appropriately set up). Your SVS subwoofer reviews have helped me make up my mind about getting two of these. I can't decide as to whether I should get two PB-3000 or SB-3000 or two PRO-2000 given the size of my home theater.
@Subwoofer1014 жыл бұрын
The two subs I would be looking at are dual PB-2000 Pro's and dual PB-3000's. I need to do a video on this, but to boil it down, if dual PB-3000's aren't going to hurt you financially, easy choice. PB-4000 level performance, and only an inch bigger in every dimension over the PB-2000 Pro's. The PB-2000 Pro's are epic for the money, and you can always upgrade within a year, so long as you go factory direct. Same flavor of potency as the PB-3000's, and definitely what I would call premium bass. By contrast, the originals are not what I would consider premium. To me, premium means more explosive. To me, room size just doesn't matter, unless you're talking massive, massive rooms. Otherwise, the problems you're going to have in a small room are the problems you're going to have no matter what subwoofer you go with. Either way, if you have small room problems, like boundary gain from being too close to a wall, that's something you'll have to deal with regardless.

Hi, great content and really helpful. I relatively recently discovered SVS and am slowly modernising my home theatre set up. I recently bought the Ultra centre and boy oh boy, that in itself transformed the system from home theatre to actually being at the cinema! Buoyed by this, I HAVE to get a new sub, and it's going to be a 2000 Pro, probably the SB, the small loss in LFE will be a price worth paying for the vis a vis the wife's moaning because of the size difference (but I am open to persuasion if you/anyone can convince me that there is a palpable loss between the two - I would mostly use it for films, but music is important). Now to my dullard question: how do you dual sub? I have a Sony STR DN1080 amp, which I think will be enough for now at least, but I have looked at much higher spec AV amps and I don't see the connectors for two subs - what am I missing? To be fair, one will be enough for me for now, but when the time is right I will be on it. Can you help with this knowledge gap? Best regards
@Subwoofer1014 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! I'm glad you are finding the channel useful. Your main question is solved by a cheap and easy RCA splitter. Run room correction after connecting the second sub. Cake. Now for your more problematic issue. Sealed vs Ported. My wife was super hesitant to go from my SC-2000 Supercube, a microscopic sub by comparison, to the large ported subs. If I were to suggest going back to the smaller, shallower sub, I might be physically assaulted. I think she enjoys my job more than I do, especially with social isolation going on. My point is that bigger dual subs are a hard sell for some spouses, but ported are more comfortable on the ears in general. Ported are better for movies, and I love what they do for music. In my opinion, the "advantages" of sealed subs for music can be imitated using the app. Just more mid bass output. You can set it as a preset. Thankfully, the PB-2000 Pro is the second smallest sub on my list, and given its performance, it's outstanding. But I understand that it's big. My wife loves them, and I feel that after going through my Bass Hack video series, your wife might find a similar appreciation. Everyone wants better bass, whether they realize it or not. Grandmothers tend to be shocked at how much they enjoy my set up. My mother in law is even an enthusiastic fan. Lastly, when you upgrade your AVR, a Denon X4500, X3500, or pretty much anything with Audyssey XT32 is a good place to start. Marantz models are great too, just make sure it has XT32. It's the premium version of the room correction. Let me know if that helps!

I just wish the COVID lockdown could be over so I can really see what the Ultra centre and this bad boy can do! Dual subbing for now is off the table, but I am wondering if I can eek a bit more oomph/richness by replacing my remaining KEF 5001 eggs as my rear surrounds with either the Prime satellites/elevation? Are they that much more superior? Finally, disregarding (if possible) the versatility of the elevations, are they in-and-of- themselves better than the satellites (keeping in mind I will use these as straight up rears for now). Hope you guys are keeping safe D

That dip is due to the room, not the subs. It's why I stress dual subs. A single is going to have dips that shift around in the room at different frequencies. Brand has no impact on it. Duals cause constructive interference, which basically corrects those dips. Funny thing about those standing waves, you can add 10 dB of gain and barely register any difference. But in another position, or outside of the room, it sounds super loud. It's a strange phenomenon.

I'm currently demoing the original SVS PB-2000 in my 12' x 16' x 8' dedicated home theater. Due to a sloping ceiling and AC closet the room is actually just under 1400 cubic feet. The room is closed off from the rest of the house on the second floor. So far my impression of the original PB-2000 is pretty amazing. The room shakes and I can occasionally feel the chest pounding that everyone raves about. I don't have dual subs yet but since I'm still currently under the SVS 45 day trial run I was wondering if it would make any sense to either go dual PB-2000s or pay an additional $570 and go with dual PB-2000 Pros. The difference in price factors in the current sale price of the original Pb-2000 and the additional purchase of two metal grills if I go Pros. Also is their any advantage of upgrading to dual PB-3000 if one PB-2000 is already making my room shake. I'm wondering if the Split-Wind voice coil also helps refine the bass more compared to the Pro model. I'm actually interested in greater detailed bass not necessarily more bass. Currently I'm running my sub's volume in the 12 o'clock position and the trim on the receiver is set to 0 dB. The mode is in LFE+Main @ 120 Hz.
@beeavision4 жыл бұрын
@Sly foxxx I think that's what I'm concerned about. If the PB-3000 is more refined does that mean explosions and other effects sound more real rather than boomy? I can't figure out for the life of me why there are so many home theater enthusiasts upgrading to larger and larger subwoofers even in very small spaces. Perfect example of this is when Subwoofer 101 installed two PB-16 Ultras (may have been PB-4000s) in his RV only to later swap them out with the PB-3000s due to space constraints. The seating distance is only a couple of feet from the from the subs. To me that seems like overkill but others say there's absolutely no such thing.
@beeavision4 жыл бұрын
My unprofessional assumption is it may be more to do with achieving greater chest thump at lower volumes without it sounding too boomy when the volume is cranked too high.
@beeavision4 жыл бұрын
@Sly foxxx Even though the build of the PB-2000 is quite large. Running two of those within the small space I have to work with won't really cause that much of a disruption. Whats tempting is the build of the PB-3000 which is almost the same size as the PB-2000 and the weight is just light enough for me to hike it up a flight of stairs safely without requiring a construction crane on site. The biggest concern for me is justifying the cost to upgrade to something that I may only use half of its full potential just so I can squeeze a bit more refine tactile responsiveness over what the PB-2000 delivers without shaking the whole house. Of course that's just my own opinion. I could be completely wrong in my perception. I'm sure if I tried out the PB-3000 I may have a hard time reverting back to the PB-2000 again. So to play it safe my current plan is to go with the Pro's first and if by any chance I happen to catch the SUBWOOFER-19 bug then I'll simply trade it up for the PB-3000. This way I can play around with the port and PEQ curve settings.
@beeavision4 жыл бұрын
@Sly foxxx Yeah, that and the proverbial rabbit hole. lol
@Subwoofer1014 жыл бұрын
Ok, to sum things up from reading all of this: Original PB-2000 is really good, but the PB-2000 Pro's are noticeably more explosive and potent. The PB-3000 is more potent than the PB-2000 Pro. The PB-16 Ultras have the greatest potency. The more potent, the more refined the bass, and the stronger the kick the the chest AT THE SAME VOLUME. That's where the extra money goes. I certainly don't listen any louder with more powerful subs, but I can definitely feel and hear the difference. More potency = more realism. Small rooms make no difference to me in terms of not getting a bigger, more potent sub, as discovered in the RV. You'll have small room issues regardless, so get what you want and deal with the small room issues, you'll need to anyway. See my big bass tiny room video. As far as the SVS PB-1000 not having enough mid-range, I covered this in my Top 16 settings video. Bottom line is that matching the midbass to the output of a regular sub will provide the same midbass you're used to, but with GOBS and GOBS more low end potential. Most people who aren't thrilled with their SVS or other deep bass sub just haven't turned them up enough. It's really as simple as that. Hopefully that covers it all. Let me know if you have more questions! Thanks for watching!!

Both about the same price but the HSU has a lot of port adjustments while the svs has an iPhone app adjustments. I can’t afford to buy both to test, make a decision and send one back. Any info is very helpful and thanks in advance.

I have dual Hsu-vtf15h mk2 the step above the vtf3 they both use the same amp and driver and I also had a dual pb12-nsd and a pb3000 and I also have the monolith 15s and and I have played around comparing them the Hsu-vtf15h mk2 has more output then the pb3000 and yes the Hsu-vtf15h mk2 is clean and deep and the mk2 is a far more capable sub then the mark 1 that he had dont get me wrong I love svs they are a great company and have incredible customer service but price to performance is not there especially the pb3000 in my opinion it should be around 1100 dollars it's about 300 to expensive

great informative video! I have a pair of paradigm seismic 10's where the foams on the passive drivers finally gave out after 10 years of use. ive been eyeing the sb2000 pro's and also the sb3000 pro's. what do you recommend? go for a pair of the 2000 pro's and save a ton of cash or buy a single 3000 pro for now and then maybe add another 3000 pro @ 6 months later?
@Subwoofer1014 жыл бұрын
Pairs are usually best, especially if you can go factory direct. Then you can trade up if you want. Something tells me you might not be in the United States though, and that usually means that you don't have the ability to trade up. A single 3000 now, and adding another later might be the best answer if that's the case. Are ported subs an option? They have quite a few advantages, and you can check out my website where I compare ported versus sealed. A pair of PB-2000 Pro's are pretty outstanding. Plus you can plug the ports, and run them as sealed if you prefer, you just have to change it in the app as well as plugging the port. Ported subs in the SVS line tend to be stronger under 40 hz then the sealed subs. Generally, that should equate to being able to run more bass overall.

Should I go 2 PB 2000 Pros or 2 sB 3000 (currently they are the same price. 99.9% for movies!!!!) Also going to pair them with 2 svs Ultra bookshelf and a later upgrade will be the ultra center.

I've got 1 month left to trade-up my dual PB 2000 classics. I'm already pretty happy with the classics but I'd like the app control with the Pros. And I'm wondering how much more "oomph" they've got. Total cost will be $682 to trade my dual classics for dual pros (because I have to buy boxes). Anyone care to weigh in if it's worth it? Should I upgrade?

Hey :-) ONE SVS SB 2000 pro, or two SB 1000 for movies? Both solutions, is to be placed, under my 55" inch oled. It is very limited, where I can place the subs. Maybe, I could have two PB 1000, on each side of my couch? But, it will not work under the TV, cause the PBs, are too big, for my setup, as it is :-(

Sorry.. but I'm a sealed sub person. What about mixing a SB-1000 with a SB-2000 Pro for Dual subs? I suppose the suckiest part is that one has the EQ software and the other doesn't. But maybe it can still EQ properly despite that?

Frankly, if you can afford dual PB-2000 Pro's, that's absolutely the way I would go. Outstanding. Otherwise go dual PB-1000's or PB-2000 originals if they are on special. Go factory direct, and you have a year to upgrade. My affiliate links are factory direct. But essentially, dual subs are SUPER important, and I would prioritize that over getting the better sub. ALL day long. Whichever you go with, check out my Bass Hack video series to get the most out of them. If you set them up "as directed", you'll be hear a lot more depth, but my Hacks will really optimize them.
