I reckon many Japanese people don't expect to hear delayed train announcments. I wonder how many experience shock that their trains may be delayed by up to 30 minutes at each change.

Just hearing this has made me realise how poorly the SWR announcements are put together (mostly due to the lack of breathing space between station stops and also how the stop announcements were probably recorded in the South West Trains - the company operating the train lines in the south west of England before SWR - compared to some announcements being recorded more recently as SWR). Also it is funny as a native English speaker to hear the highly detailed (kinda unnatural) announcements on Japanese trains and I don't remember the actual Japanese announcements going that formal.

Thanks for your comment - I became aware of South West Trains after visiting UK as London UInderground still says the name in some occations like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/raWke6NuebepaJY Seems to me South West Trains tried to make its on board announcements natural according to announcements given by train guards with less breathing spaces - unfortunately it is not what is needed for automated announcements, as a number of train enthusiasts complain about it.
