After about 8 years of fighting with Hugin, using Neo's pano and HDR tools are an absolute joy. Like any pano software it will struggle a bit with parallax if you're not using a nodal slide, but the results I'm getting with all handheld multirow shots is just incredible. I'm not a presets kind of photographer and was almost scared off with how Neo works, but those features can be easily ignored, and I find the raw editor to actually be quite good after adjusting to the UX.

As much as I find Skylum's customer service terrible, the software is very good. I used to use PTGui, but with the introduction of Ai and better software, I will say that Neo is a great addition to Affinity Photo. I edit 90% with Affinity but when I need to use something akin to Lightroom, Neo is my go-to option. And the pano addition is well worth the investment. And you are now my only source for Skylum tutorials, thanks

Hi Anthony, thanks for your update on the Pano Stitching. I purchased Neo after watching your you tube content almost a year ago now and have been impressed how Luminar Neo has developed and improved over that time as I hope has my editing. Having purchased the Pano extension through your link I am impressed with the ease it works and the flexibility offered for leveling the horizonl and leveling any curvature, but I have also had some issues regarding ghosting and blurred portions in small areas of an image. All the images were taken with a tripod and given 30 % or more overlap. The most challenging to sort out will be an astro shot of the milky way with some blurred and double stars. Another example that may catch others out was several out of focus rocks in the foreground that seem to have confused the software, the outcome was ghosting. Sorry about the novel but look foward to your feedback.

Great video Anthony, and I learned that you can throw HDR images directly into the pano tool - what a time saver - I merged my images first and then sent the result to the Pano tool - had to try to do it again with the sources :) - thanks for the tip!

Ever since Luminar gave a release date of the new Panorama extension, I went out to get several photos to make several panos. I would almost give it a 10, but it falls just short when stitching grassy areas. I am sure they will improve this very soon. The only 2 programs that can do this is PTGui and Hugin. Photoshop and Lightroom still fall short of Luminar, so I will give it an 8+, not bad for its first version.

nice video Anthony, i was playing with it over the weekend. works well and simple to use. There is a bug in it though, i have one pano that i cannot export the size box comes up red and i cannot change it. tried cropping it down but to no joy. all my others no issue.
@peterleo16 Жыл бұрын
I encountered this same problem. Go to Resize-Dimension and decrease the value of the red box until it accepts the new reduced value. Then you can export and save. Not sure why. Could be not able to save huge file. Hope Anthony has some answers to this.

Anthony, we taking videos for stitching, what are the best settings. Also, can you review the quality of the final product? Thanks
@AnthonyTurnham Жыл бұрын
I prefer putting the frame rate up (60 / 120 fps) so that each frame is more defined hence a sharper image in the final pano. It's a cool feature but tbh if quality is your main concern then stitching specific photos rather than video is usually going to give you the best results.

It should work for both the perpetual licence and the subscription too. Enjoy😄 Best wishes, Anthony

Hi Anthony! I tried the panorama stitching plug-in, but it's not very accurate, especially when overlapping water, you can see the imperfections around the join. I tried to clone the affected areas but it made it worse! 😾 I previously used the panorama tool in Affinity Photo, which is much better and more accurate than Luminar Neo's new plug-in. 😾. What do you think Anthony? Regards from Felix the Cat. 😾

I've used the 'pano' function a couple of times only. Both times edited in LRc, exported as TIF's and imported into NEO. Then pano'd. Let's hope there will be an update soon to pano the edited images within NEO instead of affecting the original RAW's. Q > in LRc when composing a pano, the X & Y axis can be adjusted independently. What I've found is that in NEO it is not possible and results in a cropping of the resultant pano ~ or am I missing something?
@AnthonyTurnham Жыл бұрын
Hi James, I'm just wondering where you edit the X and Y in Lightroom? I know spherical vs cylindrical will often slightly affect the X Y axis ratio but to actually change them manually... I'm unaware. Please let me know where. Or do you mean the aspect setting in the profile tool? 🤔

@@jamesss1953 Ah changing the ratio of the crop, yeah, you can do that with the pano extension in neo too. Rather than accept the suggested crop by Neo, simply grab the borders of the applied crop and drag them to the ratio/crop you prefer.

I just started to use to pano tool. After the crop and hit "save" the pano disappears. I does not appear in the panorama stitching folder. Have you run across this issue before? Pretty much useless for me at this point since I can't retrieve the pano. Appreciate any clues on how to solve this problem. Thanks Anthony.
@AnthonyTurnham Жыл бұрын
Hmmm, no, that's where the program should be sending it. Have you searched outside of NEOs folder structure and run a search on the OS? I'd create a file with a distinguishable filename and run a search to solve the mystery of where Luminar has set up the default output.
@lloydstuartm.d.5625 Жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyTurnham It looks like Luminar created a subfolder called panorama in my "Windows Pictures" file but the individual exported photo files are blank. I have no idea where the files went, if anywhere. I'm using a brand new computer so this is frustrating. It looks like this extension has some serious bugs. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this issue. Tech support recommended turning off the graphics processor (file -> preferences -> use graphics processor -> off) but that didn't work either.

Hi again Anthony! Luminar Neo's panorama stitched pictures are too big to save! I used the the new Panorama Stitching plug in for the first time, but I have four criticisms of this tool. First of all, sometimes it fails to accurately align all photos, resulting in buildings with misaligned edges. Second, when trying to stitch together pictures that include water, there are unsightly areas where the pictures overlap, resulting areas of sea or rivers, etc., look patchy and unnatural. Third, the resulting pictures are so large you cannot save them. There is a 'red outline' around the dimensions telling me they are too large. Finally, you can't save them as RAW files, but only as JPEG's. Result, I'm not very impressed with Neo's new Panorama Stitching plug-in. 😾 Regards from Felix the Cat! 😾

Good feedback FTC! :) I too would like to see raw output as an option, but 16bit tiff is available and not a bad 2nd place option.

Panorama Stitching works fine but I find it incredibly annoying how buggy Luminar Neo becomes after each major update. I was so happy when I was able to use it again without crashes after numerous bugfixes for 1.11 and now the same torture again with 1.12. Eg. Edit -> Develop RAW -> move Smart Contrast slider to a positive value -> crash on most pictures.
@AnthonyTurnham Жыл бұрын
Oh no. That's a shame. I strongly recommend reporting the bug to the Skylum support team so they're aware of it. Often these bugs are set-up specific. So unless they have the info they can't resolve. I've found these later updates very stable on my system.

No tripod?! Rookie mistake, Anthony... Just kidding! Great video as usual. The pano stitching looks like the first extension in Neo that I'm actually interested in at this point. None of the others seem to be nearly as good as 3rd party alternatives, but the pano stitching looks pretty solid right out of the gate, except for that oddity that it only works on the raw photos and not the edited versions. Exporting each of your raw photos as a TIFF just to get the pano stitching to work seems like a fail. There should at least be a checkbox to allow the processing of edited photos vs. raw. Also, try not to kill yourself running up and down muddy mountain trails next time...come on, man. Starting a 3 hour hike when you only have 3 hours of daylight? Luminar needs to sponsor purchasing a watch for you!

It's only necessary when you're using HDR brackets. If it's single shots making up the pano then there's no need for ghost reduction hence the reason it's greyed out.
