Hello Ben, thank you for your new video. To my mind, Bella has a good mastery of the English language, with just a slight Spanish accent. The students you showed in your previous videos did not have such a good level of English, but despite that, they all managed to pass the C2 exam. After all, not everybody has a native English partner, teaches English on a daily basis and lived for a long time in England. :-)

I totally agree with everything she said. I'm 18 and I took the CPE some weeks ago, it turned out I got a pass (207 overall). However, I scored 176 on the writing part which was pretty disappointing when I first saw it because I didn't feel like it went THAT atrociously. Like she said, the topics are dull and repetitive at points and there's essentially no way to impress the examiner as they've probably read it all. I used advanced vocab from your videos yet it didn't really make a difference. Anyway, I compensated with the other parts of the test. Finally, I should say, this girl has an astounding level! She def deserves the C2 to say the least. Great vid!👌 Edit: typo

Wow! It's the only thought that comes to mind after watching this video. Awesome conversation and very helpful tips. I have to tell you that I am very proud of myself for being able to understand the whole conversation, with my humble B2 level. Thanks to both of you. ☺

I started watching these videos to get myself some motivation! I used to be C1 but after having taught in a school for almost 10 years, it seems to be my English got rusted 😢 and I don’t longer feel confident about it so I’m planning to study again and take the exam.

Out of the other 47 last videos that I saw (I'm watching the entire list of Cambridge English exam tips. by the way) This was the most inspiring one. I just couldn't let pass the chance to comment my thoughts about it. I'm just an average Colombian guy who is passionate about languages: with 2 years worth of disorganize, but nevertheless, effective studies of English; 8 months of full-time immersion on the language; and who still has around 4 months of time for preparation before the B2 exam of the month of September arrives. I'm taking all of his way too seriously, I've even adopted a routine of 8 hours of intensive study of English per day. And although I still plan to stick with that routine, I can't deny that this video and the recommendations of Bella really helped me with my stress. I wanted to comment on these videos since a long time ago, but I didn't allow myself to do so until now. it's really relieving and motivating to finally being able to get out of my routine for a couple of minutes and express myself. As Mr. Ben said: "Consistency over intensity". (Sorry if I got it wrong). Anyways, I still have a mountain of work to do. so I better get back to it. Thank you Mr. Ben for these amazing videos. I know they'll be really useful when the big day comes. Take care.

I have failed the C1 and C2 exams (which was expected due to not studying at all for it) and this year I put in my mind I was going to do it again and pass it. So I've been preparing for C2 proficiency and after watching this I realised I've been doing it wrong all along! Thank you Ben and Bella. I just loved the tips. This video restored the hope I had long ago of passing the exam.

Talking from my experience I can say for sure that living in an English family in the UK, using English as a first language is not enough to achieve c1 level. I still have to watch lessons and do a hard work to expand my vocabulary. This is the mistake most immigrants like myself make, thinking that the language will improve by itself,however, it's not the case.. . You really need to work hard. I even read school material of my step daughter to boost my vocabulary. Lucky enough, my understanding of the language is at C1 level at least cause my wife loves to talk a lot 🤣

That's so true. For this type of exam, we need to study a lot. Ordinary English is not good enough (in this situation). Thanks for sharing your experiences with others, like me.

A question: is it right to study the topics from your writings to prepare for the oral, like a university exam?
@tothepointenglishwithben.2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it's right or wrong but some vocabulary you use in your writings could be useful in the speaking paper. As long as it's not too formal.
@Ghellia Жыл бұрын
Her not getting higher scores in the writing section only proves that sometimes it could be a better strategy (or tactics) to get rid that that snowflake attitude. And her claim that having a native English-speaking partner is an achievement somehow relevant to exam preparation? She sounds a bit arrogant to me.

@tothepointenglishwithben.2 жыл бұрын
"itis" is a common suffix used in medical contexts for certain diseases. Bella was using it in a metaphorical sense to refer to the idea that some people are unhealthily obsessed with degrees and certificates.
