Great information in this video, I learned a lot about pigments. Light intensity is also a major factor in getting plants to color up. My light is extremely bright and I have just as vivid colors with less hours and more watering (I get it up to 18 hours in the summer). I don't like the dehydrated look of a lot of your plants to be honest.

Nice informative video ! Personally I think most of your plants don't look great at all, it almost looks like they are sick, but that's a matter of preference. I prefer less shriveled leaves and blister-type things. The intensity of the light is also important. I would never give any plant less than 8 hours of darkness, my succulents that receive 14 hours of 2000-3000 footcandles of light a day also have nice pinkish colouring, but look a lot healthier than yours. But yeah they might be less compact, but at least they grow !

It doesn't really prefer one wavelength of light to another. Just keep it in shaded areas, they'll show you their beauty

Great tips JustThangToo. I learnt so much. I spent years establishing my collection and now that it's established I had no idea they could go for months without water because in their early days when I worked full time I'd forget to water them and they'd die. Really enjoyed your tips and cant wait to get more colours. Have you got any videos of how to get your cacti flowers not to die? I have a cacti that after 3 years finally grew a few buds but was really disappointed when I went out yesterday to find them all dead :(

It's summer here in Philippines. My succulents are placed outdoor with no shade under heat that ranges 32-36 degrees. But it doesn't change its pigment. I tried not to water for two weeks and it lost much leaves. But my black prince became darker and pushed a lot of pups but stopped growing. Atleast its dark and got many pups under it.

Everything dies...except for amoeba(s), which just split itself and keep on living indefinitely since it is performing infinite cloning. Anyways, I tried stressing my plants and just wound up getting my baby beans (that's what I call my succulents) sunburned.

Does giving succulents proper full sun bring out colors as well? I've got ovata compacta (jade compacta) and I've seen others with soo much orangey red. Also my sedum I think it is fire storm but never gave enough sun to see the orange coloration. I think I see a bit coming thru with my vipaspectra grow light 600w dimmable led, I think they love it

some are done with full sun, others are done with high or low temperature and others are a combination of both. So if you want red, colder temps will bring them out. If you wanter yellow orange and hotter temps and bright sun will do.

Echeveria usually have alt colorations, but most succulents equally stress at the same rate depending on how you care/introduce it.

Hi thang! I live in a tropical country and yes we are blessed with full sun all through out the year, but my concern is sometimes the heat is just too intense sometimes like during summer .what do you think is more better : give my korean succulents natural light from the sun right after they arrive from shipping , or Simply use a growlight indoor for a couple of weeks before introducing them outside.. please help..thnx ..how do you do yours when the arrive... your response will be much appreciated..

well most places that has intense sun use shades to shade 50% of the light. So maybe invest in plants shades for outside so they don't burn out

@@lordshitpost31 too much light makes it worse. Plants usually curl up or give up certain parts of the plant in order to reserve water. If eveythings rapidly dying at the bottom and not showing signs of color stressing its possible green is just its natural color and youre killing it

I've tried to sun bath my babies like 6-8 hours, but the leaves burnt and it stressed me out, now i'm just leave it on morning sunlight from 8am to 10 am..and put them in shade area, i'm still learning how to balancing the amount of light my babies need, which some will curl up, some elongated..what do you suggest sir?
