try an anthology of short stories by different authors might get you out of your post Murakami funk. Perhaps there are some books best not read in the dark days of winter.

Did the book cases not sell? I thought they were perfect for bedside table tbr shelves. They would need to be taller to be actual bedside tables, but thrift store found legs would solve that issue. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out Ira, at SF Words of Wonder, who did a custom bookcase build in a closet that was fun to watch. I’m wishing I had a space for such a build, but my open walls are in direct sun. 🤷♂️ 😺✌️

Oh I didn't know Ira made shelves too I'll check it out. The shelves didn't really sell but I'm pretty bad at self promotion. I think if I build some more I will make them hangable because it is hard to make the shelves work in a room with how small they are

I read Circe. It's really good.

Be honest. How many sci-fi books have you read that are just schlock? I think that "Tiger, Tiger", or "The Stars My Destination", was pretty close to schlock.

Agreed but I like schlock sometimes. That's why I'm surprised A Princess of Mars didn't do it for me

@@bookjack I'd have to agree with you. I think the Burrough's Mars books are for a cult following.

I'd like to suggest Sea of Rust by C. Robert Cargill. A sci-fi dystopian robot book to lift you out of your Murakami funk...

Thanks for the recommendation. Sounds like something I'd like

Every time I see the "A Little Life" cover I think it's Johnny Cash.
