G'day Fellow Fishos, I hope you enjoyed the video! We are slowly getting there on the video production side of things. James is working hard to improve his editing skills and it's great to see him growing in confidence as a fisherman and a video editor. As I said in the video, if you have any questions or fishing tips for us feel free to whack them down in the comments section. Thanks for your support guys! Cheers :)

Try bleeding all your fish before putting them on ice, an old fisherman once told me if you are going to kill something, look after it the very best you can. I am so glad I listened to him as the eating quality of my catch improved out of sight. Love the video keep them coming.

Hey Mark, you'll have better hook ups if you circle a busting school so your boat skirts around but your lure goes through the school. That way the fish don't spook and dive down
@philnelson940
@philnelson940 Жыл бұрын
Another approach is to drive the boat tangential to the school, then when you are directly off to the side of it, turn the boat 45 degrees towards the side the school is on. This will drag your lure straight through the school.

Try pushing your knife blade lightly against the bones when cutting through the meat. Sometimes called "dragging" the blade. The sharper the knife, the easier it is. The fish monger pros will normally have razor sharp knife's. Cut down to the bone between the head & wing (front flipper) and then simply cut down the backbone, pressing firmly against the spine. Another use for the heads & bones is soup or stock. Boil for 30-40 minutes, strain and use/store.

I love to go fishing. Catching fish, is a bonus! It's the whole experience that I go for.. 😁 The Captains around here, when the seas get rough, punch it. I think that is my favorite part..Kick back and hang on! 🤣🤣 BTW- once in a while, give your chickens the leftovers. They will pick a fish carcass clean. It's still ends up in the garden and it's a very good treat for the birds.

Nice little Skippie/Striped Tuna. Best lure for them is a small pink squid lure with a chrome or pearl head fished a ways back in the wash altho they will eat lures closer in. Rigged with a double hook its almost a certainty fir a hookup. Black/purple is another proven Skippie colour along with Green/Yellow. Little buggas will eat almost anything tho. Flip them upside down once onboard to stop them doing the "Skippie wriggle".

Her favorite thing to do was go out in the channel when we lived in Ketchikan, and stay for hours on that Bayliner. Sometimes you don't catch much. But you do get to enjoy fishing and time with friends and family.

Great start for a beginner. Definetly learn to become very proficient in using your fish finder/ sounder. Watch a few videos on how to read it the right way. It is a tool that a lot of people think they know how to use/read but only really know 5% of what it can do. It will change your fishing experience tremendously.

The bay and beyond is tough for people who haven't found their own spots and racked up many hours. But one big tip I've learnt is to have a go back in the passage before you call it a day. Congrats on the tuna Mark and good luck with your future fishing expeditions! Look forward to seeing you catch a few and combining the fishing with your ability to grow produce! I think there's plenty of KZbin clips on filleting/fishing to learn from. Teach a man to fish (and grow food) and he'll eat forever self sufficientlty! Bleeding the fish is a good tip. Cut it's neck between the gills while it's alive and stick it upside down in sand if fishing on beach or in a bucket of ice on the boat.

Pretty sure it’s a Mackerel Tuna not quite as nice on the tooth. Apparently ok in curries etc. Good bait for bottom bouncing. I’d suggest maybe slow trolling them livies at about 2-3 knots around the edge of drop offs. Look on your contour map and you’ll pick the lumps. And see the fish on the sounder. Spanish will hit it. It’s their season now. On the tuna bust ups throw in a cast with a stick bait. You will find long tail tuna right now which are much nicer on the tooth and will be even a feistier catch. Love your videos Mark! Such a beautiful place we live. Lots of fishing here in the south East for sure. With the squid trex I’m going to slow jig mine and see what happens. I followed you months ago to learn from you about gardening, so there’s always someone to learn from and improve. You’re doing great!
