G'day Fishos, due to popular demand 😂 we will be uploading a follow-up video on how we think water got into our fuel system 👍😉

Hey Mark love your videos. Just a heads up, when tying off the boat to the mooring, run the line up through the bow spirt/ roller where the anchor goes so it will allow the boat to swing. Tangas is renowned for westerly swell coming through and will sink ya boat if your anchored from the stern. Anyways love your channels Tight lines 🤙

It seems you had the stern tied to the mooring, causing splash over the transom. Tie the bow to the mooring, the boat faces into the weather. Great trip tho

Stabicraft all have a fuel water separator installed it’s located under the live bait tank with a tap on the bottom to drain water or any particles in the fuel system before it reaches the engine. By draining the filter you would have probably been fine once you got to the clean fuel.

Hey mark, love your channels. As a few others have mentioned, my best guess would be that by mooring the boat by the back corner it has caused waves to break over the back of the boat and the water has got in through the breather. Safest to always moor/anchor a boat from the bow. That way it will always point into the wind and waves. Same goes for trying to drive off a stuck anchor. Never tie it off to the back corner, it can easily get pulled under. Glad you got back safe and look forward to the next video.

What a fun fishing trip, Mark. You caught some fish, made some yummy food and drinks, and float on the water. The weather can turn that quick,......, am glad you guys got home safely. I can't wait for the next fishing trip. :)

My 1850SC has the fuel breathers on the starboard side, could it be that water entered these breathers on your boat because of the way you moored your boat side on to the rough seas ?

Great trip and video Mark and co... One BIG safety tip though is make sure you keep your aerial either straight up and down or stored properly so no one can accidentally walk into and impale their eye on it. They can be very dangerous!! Also be aware of them, when travelling or just parked up in the garage.

The one good thing about coastguard/vmr is the cost is tax deductible it also pays to make sure your filter has a clear water trap bowl on it this help seeing water in the fuel before it becomes a problem

Please tell me they installed an in line fuel filter. Did they figure out how the water got in? Through the breather? This should not be possible, so I would figure out the cause b4 venturing out again.

When I watched your video about your boat a couple of weeks ago you showed where your fuel filling point is and straight away I thought that is not good being on the outside of the boat because it could leak water into the fuel tank. I love the Stabicraft boat and I think they may have moved the filling point to the inside of the new boats???

Definitely need to tie the mooring to the bow next time. Much better for your boat and outboard in rough conditions like you experienced. I reckon this was the cause for the breakdown.

Also we just spun our prop on our last trip and had a tow in, so if you can keep a spare prop in the boat that can be handy too if you go out wide. If you stay in close a tow is probably a better option that switching a prop while on the water ;)

They have fuel water separator filters for water in the gas. Try to get one with clear bowls so you can see the water. You usually replace the filters every 6 months or so.

A couple of rookie errors made by you lot . Never moor a boat off the stern, Big wind water goes over the transom (maybe how you got water in fuel ). Landing net fish from the head end so they swim into it not trying to get them tail first. Dont shoot the messenger.

Hey mark, legendary video. Me an my son are thinking about picking up a Yamaha outboard. How did the water get into the fuel line so we can avoid it in the future. I noticed the waves were going over the back of the boat, was it fuel line the water got into.

Looks like you had a towed-ally awesome trip mark ;) glad you got home safe. Been towed in a few times, water in the fuel is a bad deal. Be sure you have a full size water separating fuel filter installed, but if you have over a liter of water in the tank, that’s no good. Did the northsid marine crew have an explaination for you as to how it got in there?

Hi Mark, I live in the Redlands, so same part of the world as you with Moreton Bay on my doorstep. I Haven't purchased a boat yet. Just wondering about your little inflatable boat, so, once you left your accommodation each morning from the Island, did you simply just drag it on board and deflate it each time? or was there enough water at high tide to bring your Stabi in close to jump aboard from the beach? Sorry, just unfamiliar with Moreton Island. Just in case I do a similar trip one day :) Cheers, Gordon

Hypothetical, I know I know. It'll never happen,,,,,,,,,, But just imagine falling off the boat at full speed and being winded by the impact. How long could you survive unconscious face down in the water before the boat turned around, finally managed to find you and got you back aboard? And would they manage to revive you? A life jacket would save your life in that situation as it would make sure you were afloat face up. Apart from my concerns. What a brilliant video. LOL
