Half Life 1 introduction playthrough

Video of the first 16 minutes of Half Life 1 - showing the legendary introduction tram ride, first taste of Black Mesa, and finally the carnage of the mysterious science experiment Gordon Freeman kicks off, that goes terribly wrong.
The aftermath of the failed experiment is one of the best games ever, but certainly one of the best introductions I've ever seen. It's clever, and it's effective - even when watched in 2011.

I'm playing this game through the Black Mesa Remake and man I completely understand all the praise gotten and why this is considered one of if not the best game ever made I still think Super Mario 64 is a bit better but I'm biased haha

Something is off with this intro. I distinctly remember at 1:44 when she says, "No smoking, eating, or drinking are permitted" there was no background noise. It was just her speaking. But in two intro videos on youtube I've seen so far there is weird background noise I don't remember in the original intro. Also, I'm not hearing the track sounds when the train is shifting vertically. Something is off. I want to watch the ORIGINAL intro.

The image is real. Gordon Freeman was spotted working in a real particle accelerator, and an effort was made on Reddit to send him a red crowbar. It's really hilarious.

Haha I know, right? I was like "Oh hey, look up in this part! There's a helicopter up there!" and "Dude... no... that's back toward the lobby. Turn around... ok there you go..." Lol cracked me the hell up with the microwave oven though, I had no idea you could blow up the guy's bowl of food. Also cracked up at him turning the lights out on everyone. I should play that game again sometime, omhg what experience that was the first time I played it. :-)

Lol the way everyone is "I can't leave my post..." and "Don't bother me now, wait till after the experiment!" it's like, what is Gordon Freeman bugging them with? "Hey, wanna ditch this place and go to the titty bar?" I remember when I first played this, I wouldn't shut up about it to my friends. Just even going through the train ride, you knew this game was going to be something special. No game back then had such intelligence and creativity put into an opening scene. By the time you got to see the experiment go horribly wrong, and got your first look at the devastated facility, you knew you were completely and irrevocably hooked. What a game, wow. The cool parts didn't stop at the first level, man it just kept delivering all the way through. Incredible series, can't wait for more of it. :-)

Does anyone notice there's no "tutorial" in Half-Life 1 ? The first 10~15 minutes are very important to handle the character, you can jump or crouch safely in the train, "Black Mesa" is a very important complex because of military helicopter @ 02:08, and obviously when you wear the special suit to protect you to see the UI on the screen.

The dreams of the big tabletop mountain are quite common. It's called "the Devil's Tower" and it featured quite heavily in a movie called "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind". It's an older flick, but you may have heard about the director, Steven Spielberg...
