I am confused about the matching pairs, let’s say I am in a specific block and in the middle row of the block I find the pair 8-9. The thing is that the third middle cell in the block is empty as well, I can’t put a 9 but an 8 can definitely go there. Should I take out the 8 because of the matching pair? Or should it stay there until I take it out for some other reason?

I'm not sure if you're still supervising these videos since they are very old. One general question: when I'm finished and want to check if everything is fine, do I have to do both LCR & TMB or just one is sufficient? I'm doing both right now but it's a lot of work. TFS, Nicole
@SudokuGuy4 жыл бұрын
Good question The peddler. (Nicole)l For all puzzles start by using TMB and LCR and as you go throught the puzzle always look to see if this technique be used. every time you solve a new number. Often it can be used as a ramification. I hope this helps. Yes my name is Nicole and I'm glad I found your channel. I'm reviewing a new Sudoku book and I haven't done any in ~15 years so I needed to freshen up a bit. I'm at lesson #20.
@SudokuGuy4 жыл бұрын
@@thepeddler9226 sorry Nicole i missunderstood. The best way to find out quickly if you have solved the puzzle correctly is to look quickly at either a block or row or column to see if there are no repeated numbers. The rule in sudoku is that you can never have a repeated number in a row, column or block. After doing many puzzles this becomes easy. Hope this answers youw question.

Hi Robin, thanks for all the wonderful lessons. You are such a great teacher. Could you please tell me where I can find legitimate Sudoku puzzles? The 3 books I’ve bought don’t adhere to the LCR and TMB scenarios. Am I doing something wrong?
@SudokuGuy4 жыл бұрын
Which ones? that's sound wierd. All puzzles I have done can use TMB and LCr I suggest you look at lessons 1 and 2 again. Purchase a book of easy puzzles by Will Shortz or go to the app Enjoy sudoku. DOn MORneau here (as in DO MOR Sudoku!) Just to say Thanks once again. I've listened to other presentations, but have to say besides being so systematic, yours is the clearest, and least confusing methods I've seen yet! One feature I have yet to see anyone else do is to put three little numbers in a row in a block. At first I didn't see the value but found that it is a great aid in being able to tell what CANNOT go in the blocks next to it.. Keep going Sudoku Guy!!! (PS: Do you spell your first name Robin or Robyn?)

i don't know if you are still monitoring questions, but I have two. Occassionally I get a block that looks like it has matching pairs, but the individual numbers come from two different ways of finding them. The blocks then do not solve as matching pair blocks should. Second, when I "think outside the box", I can't always solve the three numbers, especially on the more difficult puzzles. Should I always expect to be able to solve them?
@SudokuGuy8 жыл бұрын
Hello Karen, Question 1 I am confused as to what you mean.When you say it looks like matching pairs, is this because you have many other small numbers in the cells which you think have matching pairs? There can be what I call "hidden matching pairs". I cover this in a tutorial coming soon. Question 2 Yes , sometimes you can't solve the 3 cells immeiately, however if you look at other parts of the puzzle you can usually find a way to solve 1 2 or 3 of the cells. E.g. if a cell has 2 possible numbers then further on in the puzzle if you solve one of those 2 numbers numbers somewhere else in the row column or block, then you can solve a cell which has 2 possible numbers one of which has been solved automatically This sounds complicated, however if you look at my tutorials as well as lessons you will discover what I mean.
@karenjones26318 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your quick reply! I am enjoying these videos and really advancing in my skills. I'll try to clarify the second question. When I am working on the block with two matching pairs (ie 2-6 2-6) the matching pairs do not solve the block correctly.. Usually a non matching pair number (ie 9) will only go into the matching pair slot. I have noticed it the most when the matching pair is derived from two methods. Like I will have a line of twos. But later, another method, maybe a tmb/rcl will yield the sixes. I use a computer while I am learning, so I see the mistake right away. I am sure one obvious answer is that I didn't place the small numbers correctly. But, is there a situation where a matching pair LOOKS like one, but doesn't ACT like one? If I have still confused you, no matter. I'll keep on plugging away.

Your Sudoku isn't solvable. After I put the 4 constrictions in the top row in, my program finds the 8, the 2 at #3, and the 9 at #7, which is conflicting with your 9 at #43.
@SudokuGuy8 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon. this is NOT a puzzle. but a scenario to show another technique
@simon24h8 жыл бұрын
But you used the same 82 in third block to solve the top row as you did with fourth column. and you used that fourth column, to solve the sixth block. So you essentially treat like a puzzle. A puzzle with possible multiple solutions, but not one with no solutions.
