Sue’s teacher did say to do an original experiment. So she decided to do one based on her personality

4:18 his own smile proved that he was wrong to dismiss her, her experiment was a good psychological experiment not every psychological experiment has to be dark or depressing, Sue's experiment was out of the box so he mocked her. 3:53 Also, I loved the jab at him😂
@Robert-hz9bj22 күн бұрын
No, he was incredibly right to dismiss her. She provides no documentation of her methodology or data, her "experiment" conditions were extremely poorly carried out (lacking any kind of quantitative analysis, qualitative standards, or controls), and rejects the outcome of her own experiment results due to her own personal biases. Sue is terrible at science, and should have received a straight-up zero for this project.

I have a disability from a car accident, and they made me a supervisor. My object permanence sucks so they frequently have to "point me" in the right direction but once I'm there I plow through any task, and I also smile constantly. Yeah, I don't know what happened I'm just always happy now.

@katymvt27 күн бұрын
@@MightyBiffer Her hyptothesis was "if you smile at somebody they will smile back." And then she continually smiled at people who did NOT smile back. Which is fine. The paper shouldn't have been graded on whether or not you were successful in proving your hypothesis, but in the scientific manner you went about to prove or disprove it and your accuracy in recording results. This is where her F comes in.

Unfortunately, she'd still have to get an F. While she did explore a valid hypothesis (as well as a valid null hypothesis), she doesn't present any notes or documentation of her methodology or data. Also, her methodology is terrible, running her "experiment" without any kind of quantitative standards or controls. Likewise, she draws false equivalencies to other scientific ideas and rejects her own null hypothesis (i.e., that the evidence gathered suggests there is no measurable correlation between one person smiling and another) despite her own (admittedly poor) evidence showing that the null hypothesis is correct (and yes, I know that it IS an actual psychological phenomenon, but the point of this kind of project is to accept or reject a hypothesis based on the evidence YOU gather). Also, it did NOT take Einstein 10 years to "prove" E=mc^2. He published his paper on Special Relativity after 3 years working in a patent office, and while it would take some time for other to verify his work with empirical data, he demonstrated the principle was sound mathematically in the paper itself. Moreover, the point of science is not to prove something you believe is true. The point of science is to determine whether or not the evidence (empirical or mathematical) backs up an idea being true, and ultimately accepting or rejecting that idea based on what the evidence demonstrates (regardless of how much your personal preference is for said idea to be true). So, TL;DR, Sue is bad at science, general logic, AND history. That's some F level work right there...
