True that!! I knew Floor from After Forever, seen them on Fields of Rock yeaaaaaars ago. I listened to Nightwish until Tarja left. I lost interest in NW and in 2020 my girlfriend showed me The Phantom of the Opera, Beste Zangers with Henk Poort. I learned she was a member of Nightwish now.. i was like wtf??!! I rediscovered NW thanks to Floor. Where she is truly home. What a performer. The Beste Zangers edition 2019 is the best! As a Dutchie i never watched this show before because I'm just not interested in a lot of Dutch singers. Anneke van Giersbergen and Floor Jansen are my heroines. To get a little bit of an understanding about how this powerhouse vocalist finally conquered her own country, you have to look at it like this. Not many people knew Floor outside the Metal scene, and Metal music not being mainstream in the Netherlands was a huge part of her lack of fame here. So you can picture it like this, quite literally as she introduced herself :"Hi, my name is Floor * waves * and i sing in a Metal band * smiles *" When she said that, she tricked people, i think she used the known prejudice towards Metal and knew that many a mind would go "Metal? isn't that that screamy stuff? hmmmm.. i dont know...". And then takes the stage she sings this, Vilja Lied... and she dropped millions of jaws all over the country, "She can do that? but she's Metal?" ;) She sparked more than curiosity among all walks of life, the next week.. she did it again and she again blew everyone's mind, and again.. and again.. Within a few weeks the Valkyrie finally conquered her own nation and not only gained MANY new fans, she gained praise and respect from people she looks up to... One of those people.. none other than the man she was fangirling over, Henk Poort, and best of all, they became really good friends as well.

Wasn't it after this first show when she was the most googled name in The Netherlands. There is also a short talk with Tuomas when Nightwish comes to The Nrtherlands for a two days sold out concerts and they ask him why Floor isn't more known there, Tuomas says that he wonders the same and hope she would be one day, it wasn't Nightwish music though.

This is from the first episode in which all the singers performed for Henk. Being the first, this is the first time most of them had heard Floor, so the reactions were quite genuine. It wasn't a competition, but they must be thinking, “I'd better bring my 'A-game' to this!” Loved the adverts!

I wish people would stop spreading that falsehood - they'd had several months to study up on the other singers before the first ep was recorded. Or do you honestly believe they were just thrown in blind? This was the first time they heard her sing live right in front of them, but they'd been studying her for a few months, learning her music, picking a song, rearranging it for themselves, practicing with the band, etc

Vilja Lied (Vilja's Song) from Franz Lehar's operetta Die lustige Witwe (The Merry Widow). I love this performance of Floor also because of genre mix she did. After I saw this I remembred that I knew this and re-watched it on another channel I am subscribed to. There it was performed with an orchestra and a classically trained opera soprano. Watching it made me understand and appreciate Floor's incredible talent and vocal abilities even more than I already did. If you are interested in who got me into classical music again: André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra.

Vilja Lied is a very known aaria in the opera world, it is a 10 minutes beautiful aaria for a soprano to sing , she took it down to 3 minutes that is how long the song could be, that what she meant when she said she has chang it a bit. It was a great program. Didn't really get into the German show she was in earlier this year, the same way as this show.

Floor was the first to sing in this season. Nobody but Tim Akkerman even knew her. She was not very famous in her native Netherlands. They were all surprised how well she sang and in German. Now that she is doing non-metal concerts in The Netherlands her star there has risen high.

Henk didn’t know Floor at that moment. Three years later is Henk grateful to have discovered Floor and his popularity has increased considerably thanks to F,oor. This program finally made Floor known in the Netherlands. This year she participated in the German version and song in German. Beautiful there too. My favorite was the song Unikat. Yes. Sing Meinen Song was also, just as fantastic as Beste Zangers. Listening to the songs is so different than watching the performances. I don't understand why VOX TV won't allow any on YT. The only way to really enjoy to the fullest is to view on Odysee. All Floor's SMS performances solos and duets really need to be viewed to get the full effect IMO.

You should check out the recent season of the German version of this program. All the others were 20 years or so younger than Floor, they all knew who she is and were star struck and a bit intimidated. One of them looked at Floor and said "we all call ourselves rock stars. You really are".

Henk sang Sound of Silence to Floor, and it was stunning. I don't know if he gets nervous or not, if so, he sure didn't show it in any of his brilliant performances. Floor had a crush on Henk and her dream came true to meet and sing Phantom with the Phantom himself. It's such a great back story on how the two are now besties that sing on one another solo concerts. I love the instant chemistry they found with one another.

The one thing with this clip, was that right before they started to talk to Floor, the host asked Henk if there was anything he would love for them to do. Henk replied that he would love to see one of the singers there try to sing an opera aria. You know Floor was grinning cheekily on the inside when she heard that. But the look on their faces - especially Henk's - both before and after is just priceless. Immediately after she finished, the collective thud that registered on the seismographs in western Europe wasn't an earthquake, but the sound of every jaw in the Netherlands hitting the floor (pun intended).

Enjoyable as ever. The Beste Zangers songs with added commentary are great. However the quality of the music portion is not great. I suggest for the next one, play the intro then switch to the stand-alone song, which is of a much higher quality. Then switch back for the outro. 😊🤘

Great reaction, I'd been waiting for this one. I can't remember which one's you have or haven't done. My Floor song recommendations on Beste Zangers are 'Mama' which she sang for Samantha, 'Shallow' which she sang for Emma, 'Winner' sung for Tim - and of course Phantom of the Opera with Henk. Would also encourage you to listen to some of the other guys singing especially Floor's episode (which can watch in full with subtitles) Samantha does a great version of Nightwish's 'Our Decades in the Sun', Emma performs Floor's very emotional 'Strong' to her. Henk does 'Sound of Silence' for her. Tim does 'Nemo' and Rolf does 'Hotel California' if I remember rightly! Love to see you cover these. Oh....I nearly forgot, Emma and Henk do a wonderful version of 'Vivo per lei' by Andrea Bocelli! Take good care of yourselves 😃 🙂

It was Floor and Henk's Phantom of the Opera duet on Beste Zangers that blew off the Richter scale with being the most reacted to on YT. It also pushed Floor's solo performances and reason to have a solo concert. All by popular demand due to the amount of viewers captivated by Floor and Henk's performing that duet. This was a great reaction, but something wasn't right with the sound. I double checked on my end to make sure things were working right. Look forward to the next one. God Bless.

Great Reaction! It's great to also see them sitting around the couch talking before she sings and their reactions after she sings. You might try another song from that show where she sings in Spanish. Rolf Sanchez had a pretty big hit with a song called Que Se Siente and Floor does a cover of that song, although it was a Salsa song when he recorded it. One of his parents are from the Dominican Republic and the other is from the Netherlands, but he records in Spanish. I haven't seen any videos of that song where it shows them sitting around talking before she sings, but there might be. Try the channel Jenniezelf, she might have one of Que Se Siente.

She was singing once in Finnish without knowing the language, and now in German without speaking German... She "only" knows Dutch, English and Swedish (her home is a farm in Sweden). She is a superhuman talent, one in a thousand. Listen to her aria at the end of Nightwish´ song "Shoemaker". She could easily stand in every opera scene if she wanted.

The most emotional and also beautiful performance in this rendition of beste zangers is 'Winner' done by ons Brabants Floorke Jansen. Really uplifting and powerful. But the others did very well too. Henks duet with Emma is absurd. Enjoy.

Wolfman was right, the German "Lied" is more or less pronounced as 'lead' from leading. Plural is "Lieder". I always found the Vilja Lied a bit odd in that operette. But we are talking about the 19th century with no radio or records or so. Thus, the initial way for a composer to make some money was to have it printed as sheet music and hope that someone would buy it and play or sing it from the sheets at a party. Fortunately, many houses of the well-to-do had a piano and if you were good in playing and singing you would be invited a lot. When a song became very popular or even an evergreen it was clear that people did not mind to hear it over and over, so it became embedded into a newer performance. Notably in this was the composer Franz Schubert who wrote (and sold) lots of 'Lieder'. An operette with his songs was called Rosamunde.

Here is a video/videos from the same performance, GLS at Costa Rica 2012, I think all Nightwish/Floor fans should watch. The audio quality is poor, yes, but there is other value in these videos. Floor had been with Nightwish for 2 months and 2 days only. I've never seen Floor more emotional. She is not yet totally confident and relaxed. It sounds to me she has not yet figured out how to go about the lyrics at the end of the song. The difference compared to the Buenos Aires perfomance just less than 2 weeks later is very clear. It's more confident, relaxed, 'professional', and she has already got the outfit she wore at Wacken 2013 as well. guys, you have full music equipment in the back, Why are you not using the singing mics for yourself. The sound quality would benefit greatly. Also you can mix the video source audio and yourself better together to normalize it. Everything would be the same loudness ;-) My Macke mixer has USB output and input so most recent modern mixers have that which would help a lot :-)

Sue.Sue is getting quite adept at this 😁 It was a very good season on Beste Zangers, Along with Floor's awesome sets Tim Ackerman did a wonderful rendition of Nemo for Floor, he was the only one to tackle a Nightwish song. Floor and Henk did a masterful performance of Phantom, the behind the scenes of the rehearsals was quite revealing, and then later analysis showed that they put autotune on Henk's voice for his performance of The Phantom, there was no autotune on Floors.
