As a vocalist Floor is a complete anomaly in all the years I have listened to music. Her voice has a way to emotionally break through all barriers and defences I had unknowingly put up. You've heard Floor's How the Heart live acoustics and that's where she sits. Of course, she hits these notes while sitting. Of course everything is edited again, but this is her studio and she sings it live. The microphone costs 6000, so you can sit a little further away. Floor doesn't make playback shit. Doesn't need it at all.

She can sing everything here sitting yes of course. But this video is definitely recorded after she did the final studio version of this. You can clearly see it in her facial structure and lip movement. I think she just wanted to make the video more pleasing to look at instead of standing in front of a mic every video. Doesn't take anything away from her vocal ability as we all know.

The song was almost haunting and I don't remember the original giving me that, like that chill down to my bones. She really just has such a unique sound that I really felt like I wasn't really ready for her. I am sure during the song some of you probably noticed that my mouth was hanging open and I had to remind myself to actually close my mouth so I don't look like a big dummy. I am not really sure why shes not better known here in the US, because honestly, before people were telling me in the comments to listen to her, I had never even heard of her. But somethings telling me that's probably not going to be the case for too much longer because she has a lot of talent and she is super unique. I feel like that's going to take her really far. I believe that wooden Room is her own recording studio more then likely behind the wood probably is cork or something to obsorb sound. Some of her other cover songs are done in that room and you get to see the PC and the tracks that are the pre recorded music and backing tracks. Floor records her vocals I'm pretty sure they're live. But it is possible she could lip read it for the music videos recording but I doubt it as Floor has proven many times she can sing amazingly sitting down as she did with How's the Heart and Nemo Acoustic.
@Thorgrim2472 жыл бұрын
You intro is becoming quite International my friends. I am sure you are correct Wolfman. It was recorded in her home studio which is where the video was shot. However it was not a live video recording. The keyboards were played by Sir Joost van den Broek. He plays on many of the Ayreon (Arjen Anthony Lucassen's) recordings and live performances. He was also part of Floor's first band "After Forever".
@clemenstremens19402 жыл бұрын
The Heart version of this song was also a cover… And of course this is edited, but Floor never is doing play back, so all the singing is really she singing. Joost van den Broek did his job on the grand piano at home in the Netherlands, so her approving nick at the end was probably for her hubby Hannes who did the camera work. The mic is a 5 or 6000$ mic with a lot of effects build in🤓

This song was written and first recorded by a little-known band called i-Ten, in 1983. It was covered a couple of times, including by Valerie Stephenson and John Stamos, as a sitcom theme song, before Heart made it a big hit in 1987. Floor is my all-time favorite singer now, but Ann Wilson might very well be second. Floor put her own spin on it and did a fabulous job, as always, but Personally, I don’t think you can top what Ann did with it. I agree with you, that 70’s Heart was the best, as they were a little less polished, more natural, and were writing their own songs. There are a handful of Heart songs from the 80s and later that are absolutely great, but they had too much record company influence in 80s-90s. They wrote more of their own songs again in the 2000s. (For a sample, check out WTF, Make Me, Red Velvet Car). If you never saw Ann and Nancy cover Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center In front of the band and President Obama, you two should definitely add it to your reaction list. Another welcome sign you should add is Czech, (my heritage, though I don’t speak it), and where Nightwish is quite popular - “Vitejte” Love you guys! P.s. Time for me to Fly is my favorite REO song, too.

You are probably (I say probably because I didn't produce the video) right with this not being the actual vocal track. Nothing wrong with it either, it's pretty much de facto industry standard to make music videos this way for all sort of reasons, especially with multiple camera angles and a camera moving on set, even if the polar pattern is very narrow and directional you simply do not want any other noise from the set bleeding into your recording (as you already know). Not to mention that the kind of movement/expression she shows on the footage will be picked up in EXCRUTIATING detail by a microphone of that caliber.

This is not the first time that Floor has performed Alone. She did a cover with After Forever as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/np6XiY2vgb6kkJI which I think they played live. Yes, for most of her pandemic home videos' the audio and video were recorded separately, but I also believe she could sing all those notes sitting down as well. When I saw Nightwish live recently they did How's the Heart acoustically with both her and Troy sitting down and she nailed the high belting portion of the song with no problem. Her first pandemic home video, Frozen, was a little off in the mix on the first release and they remastered it and released it again. Only the remastered version is still on YT. SIr Joost van den Broek is on the piano. He is a long time friend and former band mate in After Forever. You have also heard him playing keyboards and piano in Ayreon and his is also highly successful as a producer working with bands like Epica, Blind Guardian, Powerwolf, MaYan, and Blackbriar. You should definitely checkout some Blackbriar. They are a Dutch Gothic Symphonic Metal band with an amazing female lead singer. Checkout Fairy of the Bog which is inspired by a 2000 year old mummy of a teenage girl found in a dutch bog who had been a pagan sacrifice (kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5XVh414ftxkqJo) or I'd Rather Burn with a live orchestra (kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2G3aKaAncSqfLM).
