This song is from the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album, the same record as the Greatest Show on Earth. You heard 'We Were Here' in that song as well. A fun and uplifting song, which this song is, was needed in this spot in the setlist as the next song was The Poet and the Pendulum. An Alpenglow is the reddish glow opposite of the sun when it is just below the horizon, usually best seen on a mountain face. Nice to see Wolfman back to normal.🤣🤣

As I often point out in reactions to this song, one of the most amazing parts is the two very long lines Floor sings right after the solos, she does in one breath each. That's Valkyrie level breath control.

Absurdly, I was going to comment on that but as usual you got there first! 😀 We have a wonderful solo from Emppu, then a quick to and fto with Troy - then those incredibly long single-breath lines from Floor. And then we have those superb Marco entries too. Gotta love this one.

Uplifting Alpenglow! "We were here" has significance later in your journey... "Together we slay another fright, every Jubjub bird, spooks of the past". A reference to Lewis Carroll, Jabberwocky. "Close your eyes and take a peek, the truth is easy to see". Did you see the faces in the mountain? Emppu and Troy (one of his many instruments) jamming away 🤘. Floors channel, and FloorWorld, it's lovely to see them at home. Standing up by Tuomas, I can imagine: "Yeah!" at the end.

Nightwish music just puts a smile on your face and ours as well. They have as much fun performing their music as we do watching and hearing it. It sounds like you are familiar with Henry David Thoreau the American naturalist, essayist, poet, and philosopher. Since Wacken 2013 when Emppu pulled her earphone connectors, Floor is very sensitive when he walks behind her, and he knows that… And the last seconds you can see Floor saying to Tuomas something like “told you I can do that amazing key change”

Love how Tuomas drops references to other songs in his lyrics. We Were Here is a big theme in Greatest Show on Earth and "building a Walden of my own is a reference to the song My Walden. Both from the same album as Alpenglow.

@@SueSueandthewolfman I totally agree with Tarkus. Hellfest was better than Pinkpop. There were only 24 000 watching Nightwish live on Arte Concert channel, but now there are well over 100k views already in a few hours. The video was taken down for a moment, labelled as "private", now it's on again. The Nightwish PinkPop (at least the full concert) videos were taken down as well, now back on a couple of channels. On "Nightwish Arena" for example, 'remastered'. It's a channel of a Nightwish fan. The temperature at Hellfest was pleasant, under 20C, at PinkPop around 30C. But Emppu was still red in the face - too much sun! Now the warm air has reached Finland. On saturday the highest temperature this year 30,5C, was recorded in Kuopio, (where Marko is from). Only 24C in Helsinki. But should be getting warmer here as well.

Simone's voice was just mesmerizing, maybe immature but very warm and ethereal. Pure beauty, just like she is :) She has evolved as a singer but that voice from earliest years was unlike any other singer I've heard. I'll be forever in love with it. If you want to hear the first Epica song: "Cry For the Moon HD 4K". Make sure you find the remastered HD video! Not the old 240p upload which also has a messed up audio.

Since you asked... I wish you'd make a reaction clip of "Gethsemane". By seeing most your reactions I believe youdlove that too. Live in Buenos Aires 2019 (2018, I believe). Also, do The Kinslayer. Hardly anyone reacting to it understands the background if it. I can tell you that it's about the Columbine school massacre and the lyrics contain actual speaking between one of the perpetrators and a victim - whose faith is unclear to me. I can say this because I've seen so many interviews with the survivors. Amazing is how Tuomas made the song the same year this unforgettable incident happened. 8 years later there was a school shooting in Finland as well, inspired of this evil incident happened. I believe Tuomas took it somehow personally, because he was an exchange student a few years earlier nearby.

I'd like to see your reaction for "The Crow, The Owl and The Dove", it's one the best songs from Anette era and she did pretty decent job with it. OT re: Alpenglow. So the VPRO (broadcaster "3voor12") blocked your reaction to their official Floor-at-Pinkpop video? Fight it. Send them an appeal to unblock. YT fair use guidelines explicitly allow reactors (educational content) to do reactions. You don't monetize anything here, I reckon, so ad revenue will go to the broadcaster/artist anyway. Their action is so utterly useless, to the artist first & foremost, but also to viewers and reactors. I'll try to get in touch with 3voor12 to hear what's up with all this. Cheers from Amsterdam!
