SUFFERING MINDS. THE PSYCHOLOGICAL PAIN AROUND US.

A lot of people around us suffer from the physiological pressures of this pandemic. Some were suffering before it all started, others have only now found themselves facing this struggle. The point is that there are SO MANY among us who suffer quietly and unknown by anyone. We MUST open our eyes to see them. St Silouan tells us that a loving, prayerful heart naturally feels the pain of the world and willingly crucifies itself in prayer for the world.
We must close the judgemental eyes of our minds and open the loving eyes of our hearts, so we may perceive the silent pain in our brothers and sisters. Once we see it, we must do what Christ teaches us to do: lift their cross on our shoulders and carry it for them. At least for an hour. At least for a day. It may not be much, but it will allow them a respite from the lonely hell of a mind in pain.

While Fr. Seraphim is on an island in the Hebrides off Scotland, he is talking like he is in the midst us so troubled by pandemic and/or economic crisis and/or political upheaval throughout the world. We need to lift each other up in prayer. Hear each other's pain. Recognize that each other's viewpoint are valid even though we do not share the same truth. Christ is the answer.

Father Seraphim, thank you for mentioning the situation many find themselves in caring for the elderly, and even those who are made abusive by the disease of dementia. I was feeling as if this is such a hidden experience. I'm facing this in my work as a nurse, with those who are so advanced in dementia that their families can no longer care for them. And I have compassion fatigue, resentment even. Thank you for this timely encouragement.

May God bless and keep you, my sister in Christ, for your work as a nurse. I honestly never thought about these experiences with the elderly as abuse until Father mentioned it. I’ve never experienced this myself, so it’s not something that would have occurred to me. But I imagine that it must be extremely difficult to be in your position. Your job is to care for these people, and when they are verbally abusive, you must endure it. On top of that, even though you know it’s the illness causing this behavior, you may still feel a sense of betrayal if they’re someone you’ve gotten close with. And even if their illness doesn’t cause them to verbally abuse you, you may feel pain by having to watch their life dwindle away without any visits from family or friends. And the resentment you mentioned - that might even result in you abusing yourself for having those feelings. Absolutely exhausting. 😔 Please know you have my love and immense respect for doing an essential job that I could never handle doing in a million years. My prayers are with you. ☦️

This has been a very disheartening experience for all of us in the world. Remember that you are not alone. You have a guardian angel. You have the whole company of heaven with the Mother of God at their head. And most of all, you have God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Especially when you feel weak; pray, read the bible, reach out and talk to someone who you can trust to give you love and acceptance. I pray you find healing and peace, dear sister.

Father, a warm tot of whisky does the trick.... and being in Scotland there is plenty of that around. My Mother suffered from alzheimers for ten years and despite it I grew closer to her, as I cared for her..... Christ gave me the strength to cope and feel love in the darkness. Christ will always be found in the dark.

I think you alone can discover the sources of your suffering by asking the Holy Spirit to reveal that to you, individually, and then how to self heal. God gave all of us much more self healing capacity than we yet realise. I studied Reiki to do something positive to send out Christlight to suffering places and people. Also eat what your body needs and often if you tune in sit perseveringly in hope before Jesus, an idea of relevant food could come to mind. Literally love and nurture yourself with prayers, poetry, harp music or Christian instrumental spiritually supportive quiet sound healing. God is always present. Hoping this helps you feel better. Guard your heart and mind from lower world vibrations.

(**Hope you feel better soon!) - We all must seek the potent and profound silence of our hearts, to make the necessary “course correction” away from the fog that has ensnared so many at this time. Thanks for “keeping it real,” and relevant with your valuable messages. I ❤️ everything about this video. Thank you for inviting us into your kitchen to "chat". I was especially sad today, because I wasn't able to go to Liturgy for the feast. I had been looking forward to it for a good while, but my children had a 2 hour delay at school because of snow. I wasn't able to get them to school and go to Liturgy at the same time, and I was very sad. Hearing the hymn at the end of this video really helped ease the bitterness of missing church. ❤️

That which came to pass in thee we in no wise comprehend, not the Angels, nor we men, O thou Virgin Mother pure. Righteous Elder Simeon now embraceth in his arms both the Author of the Law and the Master of all things. Since the Fashioner had willed to save Adam, whom He formed, He came down, dwelt in thy womb, O thou Virgin chaste and pure. All the race of mortal men blesseth thee, O Maid most pure, glorifying thee with faith as the Mother of our God.

I think when God's Holy Spirit presents us with a life lesson or option to live sacrificially for others and he brings it to you twice in one day, it is worthwhile considering how to uptake the Cross. This is my experience and although I am open to God's Powerful Spirit, I find suffering very distressing in myself and seeing suffering in others. Nonetheless I embrace whatever God sends by way of suffering and offer it up for souls. You are clearly on a good, holy chosen path and are devoting love and prayer, sacrifices and your whole energy to Christ to establish and maintain the Mull Monastery which shall benefit Scotland spiritually and future visitors. Your connection via these weekly talks is nurturing for us who look forward to looking in the clear spiritual mirror you hold up for us to assess our progress in, whatever our life situation. We could do with more strongly organised Celtic Christian Orthodox traditions and Monastery leadership for the youth in every country as when university is presented for young people and my grandsons are 13 and 15 now, being a monk or priest is not even mentioned as an option as far as I know. I take seriously all you say Father Seraphim and realise how far I fail even my own daily efforts to pray, fast and put God first as Matthew 6:33 advises us. You are human and holy as we all have God give potential to be. Thank you for the Godly guidance in a very isolated and holy time of God's mercy and grace.

There are so many things I would like to comment on regarding these videos, but I don’t because they bring up so many deep ideas and emotions that I believe the Lord would want me to ponder and pray about and encorporate in my life. Thank you. God bless you, Fr. Seraphim, from Denver CO

Lord, help me to have the courage and strength to be a witness of Christ when I am called to serve in this valley of tears. Sleep well father.
