The story he told about Las Vegas is truly terrifying, and there are so many things that had to have gone wrong to lead to something like that for a teenager. His parents aren't happy but now they are happy ? No issues but they're anxious to go out. I went to middle and high school with him. I even have a picture of us at prom, he slept over my house once because my mom and I loved him so much. He was so sweet, so funny, such a good friend. I am 63 and one thing I have learned from Mark's videos is you can't judge anyone by where they are from or what they look like--this guy was really down to earth and intelligent. I learn so much from all these "Soft White Underbelly" videos. And Mateo, I wish you the best of luck.

I myself used to use drugs crack cocaine and everything else, I’m still in recovery on Methadone for heroin I think that’s going to take a while but watching Marks videos I can’t believe the many people who have been abused or gone through so much with their own parents on drugs or abusing their kids just the many people who have been traumatized and being on drugs. Yeah Mark has gone all over the state’s viewing people. Amazing job Mark. I do think people need to stop being so judgmental about other who they don’t want to except or just being racist rude mean, and Mark shows how you don’t have to abuse people just because you don’t want to like them. I'm confused....he initially said his parents were OK with it after not talking to him for a month, then later said he and his father got in a fight over it, and his father said he was never going to show him to his family because he didn't want the family to see what kind of son he had, and not to use the family name. And that his parents had anxiety to be seen in public with him. Though he presents as emotionally secure and stable, I think there are some deeper feelings/issues going on. I don't think someone that does this to themself and does the work he does (starting at 16...a child) is happy with their life.

As far as the “timeline” goes he literally said there were some ups and downs. They didn’t speak to him initially. Then accepted him. Granted he was getting more work done as this time went on, so there were prob some fights when he came home w a new surgery. Then they found his “videos” so yes they can support, fight, support, fight. And he mentioned that was a comment his dad made DURING a fight- but he’s scheduled to go meet them in a week, meaning it’s resolved. Idk how that was hard to follow

My understanding is his parents are embarrassed and old-fashioned, but as a Mexican, unless you’re physically beating up your family and stealing from them, they will probably let you stay. It takes a lot for Mexican to kick their family out. But it sounds like he’s paying some other bills.

There are a lot of contradictions here. “There was no abuse in my childhood” “I started sex work at 16” “I’m happy with the way I look” “I’ve had plastic surgery head to toe and will be getting my ribs removed soon” “I have a perfect relationship with my parents, they aren’t embarrassed of me.” “My parents have told me they don’t like being seen with me and my father didn’t even want his side of the family to see me.” I’m just not understanding how all of these very obvious red flags are going unseen by the majority of people in these comments. This isn’t a personal attack on Matteo, he doesn’t seem like a bad person and I truly wish him the best. I’d be more than happy to be completely wrong about this, but the constant contradictions and pathological behavior seem to indicate much deeper psychological issues (most likely trauma related) and it’s sad that he seems to be surrounded by enablers (even in this comment section). I really hope he finds peace and is able to live a healthy and truly happy life! Blind praise and enabling are not kind or compassionate. You can’t claim to love a person if you’re complicit in their self destruction.

What's funny is I just saw another show with him on it and then just popped up. He had the same attitude in the other one as he does now. He's very materialistic obviously, but it doesn't seem to be judgmental of others. He just lives his life the way he wants to and that's it. However, it is very very sad that he was trafficked at 16. I think it would be giving up if he was out to try to change their minds, but he isnt. Some people make no distinction between positive and negative attention. All they care about is being looked at, talked about and focused on. We all want to feel valued and some achieve it by being the center of attention, any kind of attention will do as long as it's directed at them. Imho true confidence tends to be quiet (sure of it's worth), insecurity is often loud (requires constant outside validation). It is almost like a superpower to not care what others think tho, I applaud anyone who lives their authentic life unbothered, refusing to be affected by the negative opinions of others *esp strangers or bullies*. Enjoy the attention but always remember to value oneself beyond just the physical❤.

Mateo, I appreciate your interview so much. It appears that I agree with your perspective on a lot of things. You're actually really level-headed, and I was glad to hear about your life. Kudos to your parents too. It would benefit people to learn to look past the exterior. Perhaps they'd be pleasantly surprised to learn a thing or two. Being exposed to frequent negativity might make a callous, which can be used as a tool to guard ourselves. But perhaps it can also be transformed into acceptance of the fact that to be human is to be incredibly imperfect and driven by emotion. Just look past it, as you do, and live your best life. P.S. I was really surprised by how calm in demeanor Mateo is. Is honestly expected him to be loud n extreme and he sits there and just tells His story. These videos do really teach you to not judge a person by their book cover. I like how he states that although his parents are Christian they Still love him and support him. I'm shocked that he had a pretty good life and still chose the life he lives, but that really was a choice. It's obvious there's much more underneath than a sex worker. I'm glad he shared his story. I think his parents pray for him and his life/soul so God Bless him. I think bc of all the alterations to his face and body his trying to fill some void but he says he not so i dont know. I do 100% agree that people will look at him n not pay attention to what he's saying ex: read the whole Bible like he stated and still get nasty comments.
