I bring a review of a pair of Sugar Cane 1947 jeans and compare it with a Japanese Levi´s 501 1947; let´s see the result of this battle.
Note: I found out that the denim fabric of Levi´s 501 is from KAIHARA MILLS.

@@daveyboy4715 Hi, with cold wash the shrinkage is minimal, and they stretch back, I hope this helps

I have a pair of SC 1955z 14.25 oz one wash jeans, and they won't shrink no matter the washer or drier temperatures.

In my case after this video I tested the SC 1947 and they shrink an inch in the inseam and half an inch in the waist

Nice pair, enjoy! They will probably shrink a little I guess once they are washed. Shirt looks nice too, what is it? Buzz Rickson's?

It does look like it, at first I thought Iron heart( I'm on my phone) but it does seem Buzz now. I have the buzz blue Chambray and it does look very similar.

I've got various pairs of Sugar Cane and a few pairs of Levi's 501. Original and LVC. The Sugar Cane are better.

where did you get the sugarcanes??? in the UK they are very expensive more so than the LVC like £280

I need your input! I’m torn between buying a pair of sugar cane 1947 x self edge denim in black or a pair Iron Heart 634 21 Oz in SuperBlack. Which do you think is the better choice? They’re both for $250 on secondhand market.

If I’m a size 32 in Levi’s, what size do you recommend for sugar cane? I usually size up one for Levi’s STF (so a 33 that shrinks down to a 32), but since these are a one wash raw denim, do I need to size up one or two still? I hear all sort of conflicting things and sizing for sugar canes, and I know Levi’s has a history of vanity sizing so they may not be the best reference to go off. I’m simply curious as to what you recommend sizing for sugar canes. Thanks for any help!

My recommendation is to take a tailor tape and measure your best fitting jeans and compare with the measurements in the website and pick the size in relation to the measurements on the waist, is the best way to choose the right size. remember the selvedge denim tend to stretch around 1 inch in the waist. @@UrbanLadUK I appreciate the advice! Luckily I was able to find my tailor measuring tape and measure my best fitting pair of Levi’s STF. That definitely did the trick because I ordered a size 34 for the sugarcanes and they fit perfectly. So thanks again, you saved me the headache of having to stretch out a waistband for a week with these jeans!
