Silica gel by itself is not food grade but is also not considered highly toxic. Therefore, once package in Tyvek it is considered safe to use with food. What you really have to watch out for are the blue moisture indicating crystals that you find in craft shops which are conidered toxic and not approved to be used with food. You definitely can use this method to make shot glass molds - it works great for that.

Hi, Great Guide. Would like to know the oven used is a micro-wave or Convection type.

Dominic, I bought one of your kits and silicone plastique cone was still attached to one side of the glass during un molding so I cut that halve of the glass and superglued it to the copyflex cylinder. I also had more trouble with the cone it was upside and centered ready to be molded and the cone slid off the foot and down the stem so I used anchordit to adhere it to the foot, the point of all this is to ask you if you could go to more detail on how to apply silicone plastique so I dont have these troubles in the future. Sincerely, Ryan:)

Another trick that might help is to throw in one a pack of those hand warmers that you can buy at most any grocery or hardware stores (or even online or at a dollartree) and add it to the container. It produces an exothermic reaction by reacting with the oxygen in the air. Removing the oxygen in the container will drastically aid in the preservation by reducing the barometric pressure in the container and thereby causing any moisture in the air in the container to become much more "thinned out"

You can put a link to your web site in the info box. Is it the absorbent beads that are food safe or the outside packet material? To make smaller items like a shot glass... is there any difference in any step or temp or time etc?

Does the glass dissolve making your beverage sweeter? Does the glass melt in your hand?

You can make a mold of a different glass, buy you will not want to purchase a mold making kit for your unique glass, because the amounts of Silicone in each kit is specific for that size and shape of the glass in the kit. You can watch this video: www.makeyourownmolds.com/calculate-copyflex-video to determine how much CopyFlex™ you will need for your unique project. If you have further questions don't hesitate to ask.

Sealing the container could be just as easy as forming a silicon seal of that blue plastic silicone around the inner edge of the top aply wax at the edge of the container, put the top on, and wait a little, and the seal is done! Right? Because if you use masking tape on it for long term storage, it's not gonna come off easy... Beside that the silicon seal can be used again even if comes off you can just put it back, but if you drill holes around the top, let the silicon pass trough as you put the top on, and just make the excess not to fit trough the hole, it's not gonna come off, and you have an air tight box. Of course you can anly drill holes on the top if you have locking clamps on your box, otherwise it won't be air tight.

Our Silicones are designed for use with food. We do not recommend our products for your particular use. Have a wonderful day!

..."thinned out", for lack of better explanation without explaining it more technically. This will drastically reduce the reaction of whatever moisture may be in the container with the sugar. It also reduces the reaction of oxygen with the sugar, though that is much less of a worry in this case, but can be a big factor in food preservation in a vast number of other food preservation instances. The "hand warmers", places in a partially unsealed ziplock baggie will pose no health risk.

Hi Dominic, I would really love it if you could make me a mould for half a banana. In Australia MasterChef a very popular program used a mould of a half banana and they put ice cream in it. Unfortunately they had someone make it for them and it is not available in Australia. I am after 6 of them. I am happy to pay for you to make and ship them to me. Alternately if you could tell me how I would go about making it. Thanks so much. Love your videos and am keen to give this a go. Will be going to your web site and purchase something simple to try out.

maybe with some more instruction, you can successfully make more molds. I have lots of other videos that have instruction on mold making. You can check out my other videos on my You Tube page.

Uuuhhm....true.... you can make a mold of your penis. But think of the logistics. It will take all most 8 hours for the mold to cure. Do you think your "soldier" can stand at attention that long?
