Usyk's constant pressure, angle changes, footwork keeping his lead foot outside Fury's lead foot, and the sheer volume of shots thrown when his incessant efforts to close the distance allowed, is what Usyk meant, when he said in his message to Fury "Don't worry, I will not leave you alone", it is a measure of Fury and his supporters stupidity, that they didn't get what he meant and many of them even scoffed at Usyks comment, assuming that he was being sarcastically sympathetic, that Usyk was talking about comforting Fury....

@davesmith826
@davesmith826 Ай бұрын
Initially, Fury tried to price Uysk out, giving him a low-ball offer of 30% even though Uysk had three of the four belts and had better PPV and gate numbers than Fury. So much for the 'A side'. Then Fury tried to age Uysk out, cancelling their fight twice in as many years and then suffering a convenient mysterious 'cut' that healed miraculously and never reopened despite him being hit from pillar to post. Uysk knew he was being took for a ride but he didn't care. He kept his composure and warned Fury 'I will not leave you alone'. The guy is a legitimate all-time great and will go down in history as the best big man of his generation bar none. Fury will be remembered as a giant with elite boxing skills but a laughably poor resume. He's had multiple opportunities to fight Joshua, Ortiz, Ruiz, Hregovic, Joyce, Zhang, and Dubois, before and after they were beaten, and he's ducked them all. The idea that he belongs in the same conversation as Ali, Lewis etc. is absurd. He's had seven title fights, three against the same guy, and just got bashed up by a man who weighed three stone less than he did. The fact that this same man once lost to Sean Porter in the amateurs (albeit as a bean pole middleweight with a couple of years' experience under his belt) makes this all the more funny.

On the Ali question, for some reason, the Fury/Usyk bout reminded me a little of Ali’s clashes with Frazier, particularly the first one. Of course, Joe didn’t have the footwork or punch selection (probably also speed) of Usyk, but the commonality was in the ruggedness and incessant “come forward” attitude capped off with a lethal left hook. Sure, Joe would use his skull as a primary defence quite a lot, but he wasn’t afraid of being hit, just like Usyk. So I look upon Usky, maybe, as a Joe Frazier with more refined skills. Ali-Usyk in their primes would have been another match for the ages, but I’m not sure Fury would have coped so well. Likewise, a prime Mike Tyson would have been a match for anybody. So, after that senior moment, I’ll descend back into reverie.

Good analysis from Shane. Fury has always been better in his rematch fights, he will learn but he needs to make more improvements. He lost a lot of weight, was ring rusty, didn’t have the best camp and needed extra time, to much going on in his corner Usyk is the penultimate pro and his team, you always know he is going to turn up and be fully ready Although AJ did better in his second fight against him. I do think if the best version of fury turns up and he uses all the tools he has in his bag, one of which would be to use more pressure, usyk doesn’t like it, he is a clinical prodigy, extremely hard to beat but it’s not without its flaws Any chance fury has he has to be fully at his best and more hungry

The only exception being Haye who put on more weight than his body could handle. Great fight that did live up to the hype. Fury is a good boxer. I wouldn't say he was outclassed. The 9th round cost him the fight. Would he have got up if he was knocked down? He did against Wilder, a monster puncher.

Why didn't Fury come forward behind the jab and go to the body ? He gave away his natural advantages of size and strength. He should have kept it simple, fought on the front foot, thrown straight combinations, been much busier, and backed Usyk up. Instead he tried to outbox him, and got outworked. Credit to Usyk, but Fury's tactics made no sense. It will be interesting to see if he adjusts in the rematch.

Speed of punches he also took some good shots rested middle rounds but kept pressing forward this was hard for Fury who was forced to punch when he didn't want to he was expending alot of energy. Fury landed his favorite upper cut a few times but could not get it of enough due to the pressure and movement from Usyk. That punch only works to effect with static fighters. I think he will lose sooner if came in heavier in the rematch. Win for Usyk again in the rematch. I do rate Fury though he is a hell of a fighter..

The Saudis saved the heavyweight division, more great matchups in the last 6 months than in the last 6 years, and more to come. June 1st, baby!

The ref gave Fury a longer count than that in first and last Wilder fights but no one said anything about it then.

Usyk should retire as The Undisputed King 👑 Giving Fury a rematch risks being cheated out of his greatest achievement. Furthermore, the way Frank Warren & the Fury’s have treated Usyk over the last 3 years has been nothing short of disgusting. They did everything in their power to frustrate Usyk’s attempts to unify all the belts by picking lesser opponents like Chisora, Whyte & Ngannou rather than risk their 1 belt against a true champion and give boxing fans the fight they so craved. Tell Fury to do one 🖕
