For someone who studies and works with health and beauty (I'm an esthetician), I often see people taking these types of products which there are no scientific comprobation and it makes me really angry, because this can be bad for them somehow. See you talking deeply about the vitamins and how they work makes me really happy and hopeful that people can research. Thank you for making this video and spreading good information and scientific facts. The health professionals thanks you 🖤
@hilarysell665 жыл бұрын
@tatiane lengyel, I couldn't agree more with you I Aman esthetician too and to see ReeRee be so iin depth about the roles of the vitamins as individuals in said products is fantastic. I feel like we tend to get so overly excited about the hype and the potential of something being a miracle worker and it listening to hard work that we may have to do. But not understanding the full repercussions that it could cause is something I see quite frequently. More people need to be informed about companies and marketing. And read through the hype and be able to read the fine print.riri is doing her part here to read that fine print for everyone

I take a doctor prescribed Vitamin D/Calcium supplement of 6000iu, because i'm "very" vitamin D deficient and suffer from bone and joint complications from another condition, plus the fact that i live in Scotland so sun-sourced Vitamin D is practically impossible for most of the year. so the fact that this cocktail gummy is giving you 2000 iu as part of a MULTIVIT is insane. that's madness, especially when it isnt giving you enough magnesium and what looks like no calcium whatsoever, both of which are vital to Vit D absorption. You're literally taking excessive amounts of a vitamin with little to no way of actually absorbing it into the body. I really do hate SugarBearHair as a company for their marketing strategy. They give Instagram celebrities these cute pastel gummybears, in hopes of attracting the attention of mid to late teenage girls to their product, with the promise of beautiful hair and nails "becuase look, XYZ celebrity takes them and her hair, skin and nails are flawless, and yours can be too!" but what they dont mention is the expensive salon treatments, dermatologist appointments, nutritionists and so on that these celebrities have easy access to, which is more likely to be the source of their 'healthy' features. And although the bottles and website/ads do say to ask your doctor before taking their vitamins... how many of their customers actually do? i can guarantee that at least half dont do any research or referral for themselves and put their trust in the Kardashians or whoever else is promoting these vits because they dont know how dangerous it can be to tinker about with vitamin/mineral levels without having them checked first. That all being said, thank you for making this video and informing everyone on how dodgy these are

I would be willing to put money on the fact that NO-ONE has consulted their doctor before taking these. Its a very gimmicky product, that has no health benefits at all.
@hoshimochi57025 жыл бұрын
Indeed, I agree 100%! Vitamins are nothing to mess around with. I only take vitamin D every two or three days because it is potent. You could have life threatening results if you take some vitamins without research or consulting a doctor.
@the_Melpomenea5 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you! And interesting thing I just noticed is that my doctor prescribed me a dosis of 20.000 IE of Vitamin D3 (per week) / 40.000 per week in winter. So I didn't find the SugarBearHair amount of 2000 that odd at first. FYI, I live in Germany and we don't get as much sun over here compared to Australia, so maybe that's why the amount of Vitamin D is different in each product.

Since I have followed your channel I have put a lot of value and stock behind your opinions and experiences and while some may frown upon me for that, I don't really care. I think your videos always are so perfectly designed and thoughtful. You present your opinions, and facts & don't push anything (positive or negative). I've also always loved that you've turned down sponsorships / doing promotions simply for money and decide to only speak on products you have passionate opinions about! I was considering buying the sugarbearhair vitamin, but after seeing this I've changed my mind. I'm not vegan but there are products I believe never have to have animal-derived ingredients (vitamins being one of them). Thanks for spreading the word about the hair gummies NOT being vegan because I think they 'gloss over' it on the website.

I love taking a great deal of Vitamin D. I am also magnesium deficient, and I have Graves Disease, plus I am older, so some excessive vitamins are beneficial to me, some longer-term than others. Biotin has shown a great deal of improvement in the overall health and thickness of my hair, which, as a consequence, helps it grow more. I have not seen more acne (again, I am older, so it may affect younger skin differently). I also need more B 12 and other B vitamins, and the Co Q 10 seems to help with my headaches, which are probably at least somewhat hormonal. It annoys me that some companies do not seem to do the research you did before making their products, and some won't even have the ingredients they advertise. We need more watchdogs on these companies, so that people will be more informed and will make wiser purchases, while the charlatans go out of business. (I am ever the eternal optimist). Thank you for doing this.

I eat Silicea. I thiiiink it's a Swedish product but I'm not sure. It's proven to work and is effective. It's great for your skin, hair and nails. I've eaten it for years and when I'm dedicated to it my hair grows twice as fast and much thicker. My skin gets alot better as well with less oily skin and no pimples. I haven't noticed a change in my nails because they've always been strong. However you have to take it at least 3 months until you can expect any visible results. The only downside is that it tastes like chalk but it's a small downside. 😉

Save your money... Supplements for hair growth sadly do not work. At least not better than a balanced diet. Your hair growth is more influenced by the health of your scalp and your hormones. Vitamins supplements only have an effect if you are vitamin deficient. It's a lot to explain. Search for Dr Mike and supplements he explains it very well in his videos.

Thank you so much for this video. What too many people also fail to realize is that the vitamin and "wellness" markets are highly unregulated and this ends up with products everywhere that are essentially "snake oil" concoctions. Either they are too much or too little of the things you actually need, or worse yet, neither and something else entirely. People should ALWAYS do good research into the claims of any products within this market before choosing something to trust.
@chronicallyfabulous885 жыл бұрын
Excellent work! I'm a final-year Biomedical Science student (Human Genetics major) and I gotta say, you did a fantastic job with this video 🙂 The only thing I would add is that multivitamins are generally a scam, anyway. Unless you have malabsorption issues (eg. from something like Gastroparesis) or a LOT of allergies/sensitivities/intolerances that make a balanced diet impossible, the vast majority of people do not need and will not benefit from a multivitamin. If a person is worried about nutritional deficiencies in their diet, the best thing to do is see a GP and ask for a blood test to check their levels of the essential stuff. If a person has deficiencies that cannot be addressed through diet (eg. a vegan with low B12), then taking specific supplements makes sense. But there are very few situations where a multivitamin is going to do anything. Consuming more vitamins does not lead to better health unless you are actually deficient in the vitamins you're taking. Personally, I have an Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (a collagen disorder, affecting all of the body's tissues), which has also caused my Gastroparesis, Dysautonomia and Fibromyalgia. I take a LOT of vitamin C (which supports collagen synthesis), vitamin D (of which EDS patients typically cannot get enough from the sun), high-dose magnesium (helpful for many neurological & chronic pain disorders) and a B-complex with extra B12 (because I'm vegan). These supplements target specific issues for me and were prescribed by my specialists. I hope your skin settles down asap, hun -- widespread breakouts like that are awful 😓❤

This review is excellent!! I have a real problem with people just taking vitamins for the hell of it, not knowing if they actually need them or not. My ex-MIL would randomly pop iron pills if she was tired. That makes no sense! She wasn’t iron deficient, I know that for a fact because every time we went to donate blood she had an excellent hemoglobin level while I was often turned away for being low. Additionally, I have to take 2,000 IU of D3 and 1,000 mg of calcium because I’m deficient in those as well- again, I am DEFICIENT. The thought that people out there who are probably fine, taking these excess amounts just blows my mind.

I read the most nutrient dense diet where you wouldn't really have to rely on multivitamins is one of high meat .. but clean meats, not KFC or sht like that lol Eaten properly: head to tail including bones, cartilage, and organs especially the liver. I have always been entirely too skeptical to believe in any magic pill to cure all my ails and woes so I never even gave these gummies the benifit of the doubt. I just figured if it's too good to be true, it most likely is. Like you said, if they work for someone, good on them, but for me personally, I just don't buy the hype. Those blue ones would be a huge issue with acne prone skin. From what I saw, they contained something like 1,667% of RDI of biotin! Biotin is water soluble, but excessive Biotin can cause issues with the vitamin b7 levels in the body, which can cause skin problems.

That's weird, I read that most Americans are vitamin D deficient. When I had candida overgrowth, I suffered from this thing called cutaneous candidiasis where toxins released in my body from leaky gut syndrome (as a result from candida overgrowth) spread out into the skin where the immune system attacks it, resulting in skin rashes. Taking the advice from a couple of naturopathic doctors here on yt, I took lots and lots of of Vitamin D3 supplements in order to regulate my immune system. Not only did it help with the rashes, it improved my eyesight significantly and stopped my hair from falling out (from the stress of work at the time). I've tested it with my mom as well and she had the exact same results. I heard it's impossible to overdose with vitamin D and from the looks of it, that seems to be the case with me. I sometimes take 20,000IU of vitamin D3 supplements and I only feel better after.
