As for most quilters, I think, I make them for other people and so try to pick colours they like. So no 2 of my quilts have been the same, but I've not made many quilts. I usually use a white background however the latest quilt is for a messy teen so no white!

I have a few illnesses that keep me walking at home very lopsided and slow. I need a wheelchair outside of the home. I deal with horrid pain. If I were to give into the pain it would drive me insane, instead I quilt. It takes me a long time to cut my quilts out as I can only stand for short periods of time. Sitting to sew is a different story. I can quilt for an hour or two before having to go lay down to rest my legs. Once I found your channel on UTube I was a very happy lady. You make not only quilting fun but you make life fun for me again and I so appreciate that about you. I am a Grandma of 4 beautiful and gifted children. The two oldest are now in University. One is seriously considering being a B.Sc RN and I think he will be very good at it. My Granddaughter is wanting to be a Naturopath Doctor when finished University. One Grandson just wanted to work instead of further education. My youngest in still in Jr. High School. So they are worthy of my pride all of them. I would love to make them each a quilt in time. I know that they would love to have something that their Mama made for them with all of my love. Keep on with your channel dear Irene. You are helping so many people, I am just the tip of the iceberg...

Dear Terri. Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so touched by it. I truly hope that you can keep quilting for many years. I'm sure the quilts will make very special gifts for you grand children that they would really cherish. Love Irene

My favourite is probably reds, pinks, aquas, greens -co ordinating with flowers, diagnols, plains. Oh I loved your fabric choices Irene! I like small patterns too, I am making a small floor quilt for our dog😂😂 in nautical colours of scrap from my husband's half quilt he uses to snooze in his chair. I've made baby quilts, but will make a larger one soon. I have never done FPP. EPP needs small patterns too. I can't wait to follow you with this quilt. You have such a wealth of talent xx

My 11yr old grand daughter has made many quilted small things and tote bags, and a one fabric quilt in vintage fabric with a huge appliquéd flower in it...Now she is making her first bigger patchwork quilt. She chose 101 Dalmatian print fabrics in red , black, pink , white and grey, with red and pink solids....It's all 5 1/2 finished size squares, she worked out the cutting sizes and how many rows wide and long, then put the squares in a pattern all by herself!! We will border it...And use cuddle soft fabric on the back!

Love your fabric selection method! Your thoughts on collecting fabrics that don't have many colors in them and smaller patterns are so smart. These will, undoubtedly influence my future purchases. Thanks so much for another fun, cheerful video! Have a great day!

So helpful! Choosing colors can be so hard and this has given me some good ideas. Thank you! Also, because I’ve heard you say it a couple of times, turquoise is pronounced “tur-coys.” Rhymes with boys. 😄 English is weird!

I love soft and bright yellows, and I really enjoy using reds also. There is one colour that I don’t like and I have a hard time to even purchase a tiny amount and that is brown. There are times when you need a piece of it but I would rather buy anything but that colour.

Love your inspiration. I tend to always use white for a background because it is safe. I am trying to go to a grey or something else.

I’ve never done foundation piecing, what would be the best pattern to start on.. great explanation for choosing fabrics, something I always have trouble with. I looked at Pinterest like you said, and that’s going to be really helpful.

I would start off with a String Quilt on a foundation square..there are tons of vids on youtube...greaty for scraps...but you could use a 'line' of fabrics as well...or a simple Schoolhouse Block...

I’,m looking for name collection, At 17:23 you show fabrics, I have some it I’m not near home at this time. Can you tell me the name, maker? Pink, orange, teal, blue. It’s the fabrics line with lines, triangles. I think you used it on the tree paper piecing too. Love your hair. Love you videos too.
