It is your engineering mind that makes this so easy for you I think. I love math also but the angles and challenges that this presents I think is easier for you because of the type of quitting that you originally started off making. Because of the fact that I learned making traditional quilts it makes it more of a challenge for me to stop and refocus. I am definitely finding paper piecing more of an adventure than a dread than it used to be for me, thanks to you. This video definitely explains more about how to achieve what you are looking for using paper piecing. Thank you.

@@Sugaridoo I found a pattern called Pickle Dish, downloaded it, realized it was paper piecing and there really were no directions, so I printed it and made one block for a friend. She makes a dish called "Pickle Dip" and everyone is always teasing her about it, but always asking her to make it. I had not paper pieced before, so it has been a real learning challenge for me. I watched your directions several times, thank you for that. I didn't have tea bag paper, so I used parchment paper. I'm quilting it today ;)

You’re so cute, and I love your patterns. I am confused as to how you lay the fabrics as they relate to the tea bag pattern. The mirror imaging was difficult to understand with regards to how each piece lays under the pattern when you sew.

Do you add seam allowances,
@pattimintun5984
@pattimintun5984 5 жыл бұрын
You are very clever! I have started an improv quilt after watching your channel. To account for your seam allowances, did you cut the fabric 1/4” bigger on each side? You may have mentioned up, but I didn’t catch it. Thanks!
@mwenprale
@mwenprale 4 жыл бұрын
She didn't mention it but yes the quarter inch was included. The yellow ruler is called an add a quarter ruler so when the fabric is ready to be cut off, it adds the seam allowance. HTH!

@@Sugaridoo Sorry that I was unclear. I watched you place the arrow on the freezer paper to figure out where the lines were going to go, then you cut it apart. After that you moved to the teabag paper and drew the box and arrow and cut it out, but how did you make sure your arrow was in the same place on both freezer paper and teabag paper? It seems like it needs to be the same but I didn't see you measure or use the freezer paper to figure it out, so wondering if it's necessary or how you did it. :)

In making a pattern for the corner block, you could have split the arrow in half, completed each half, then sewn them together. after you had sewn them to the quilt. You would just need to miter the border.... Just a thought. Also, what kind of paper are you using? What do you mean, 'working with Sugaridoo'? I'm interested, but Im is Texas, USA!
