My mother had her heart attack when she was about the age I am now. The first thing her doctor said was to get rid of the "vegetable oils" and replace them with olive oil - preferably extra virgin olive oil. She will be 85 on August 30th. And I haven't used "vegetable oil" since the early 1990s.

I'm doing much better since leaving the nursing home where my HbA1C was between 9-10 and my BMI was 45. Now it's about 40. I eat much better. Their idea of good diabetic meals was a plate of pasta with thin sauce and bread sticks. Or roast turkey, potatoes with mushroom gravy and asparagus. Great for gout, right?

I don’t have diabetes but I eat all the foods you mentioned and I exercise daily feel great 👍
@TC-vq6yz2 жыл бұрын
@Bly A, your comment comes across as one who is frustrated. Deal with your friend with more compassion. If you don't know him well enough to claim such a close friendship, and you truly are invested in his well-being, maybe you should genuinely try to get to know him better. As I live with a diabetic and am myself a diabetic, and as we are both experiencing different health issues associated with having diabetes, let me suggest an altered viewpoint of what may be the basis of your friend's reticence. Without any further information than that which you have given, a guess is your friend may be silently dealing with other health issues such as brain fog, arthritis in various joints on various days, transient moods, neuropathy, perhaps even his eyesight is being affected. Some people with failing health feel as if there is a loss of control over one's own body. After a lifetime of running our own life, What is left that we can control? What's left that brings feelings of comfort? Answer: Food, familiar recipes, favorite music, a color, perhaps a hobby. If you truly want to "help" your friend, instead of overloading him with homework (i.e. researching new recipes, food substitutions, creating new recipes) go the extra mile for him. Get him to share with you a couple of his favorite recipes and when you bring them back, present him with a more diabetic friendly option to taste that you have created, complete with written recipe card (written in larger font for easy reading, if necessary, and possibly even a few of the new ingredients needed). Instead of bombarding him with all of your information, if he's honestly interested (and not just agreeing to appease you), assisting him in making some changes would be much more helpful and could truly be a gift to him. It is disturbing to me how, previously simple and automatic, tasks are becoming more difficult. It's also dismaying how those closest haven't noticed. Most feel justified telling me what I should be doing, but they seem to lack the ability to realize even that much may be beyond my ability some days. Deal with your friend with more compassion.

i suggest something very different: trying betaine hcl + pepsin. in my case even a low carb diet with enough protein does not work anymore to kill my hunger. but after taking betaine hcl + pepsin to help splitting up the protein, my hunger goes away for a long time. it seems that i now get enough useable amino acids that result in lowering hunger. also, i suspect that my gut microbiome should change to a better one to make the l cells more gpl-1

Thank you for this information I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes, and im 45 yrs old .. I woke up in the hospital the other day and they said a normal blood sugar level is 5 and I was at 50 as many Dr and nurses I ask what that means and I get no answer .. Also when I got brought into the hospital I felt like I was paralized I had no use of my feet and arms it was very scary since the day before I was riding my bike and my eyesight has gone from 20/20 to blurry everything I try and read is blurry .. Back to my reason for leaving this comment .. Since im 45 and diagnosed with diabetes in your other video you mentioned that a late in life diagnosis is harder to deal with.. Does that mean my life expectancy is kinda like change everything or be heaven sent?? I can honestly say im scared like really scared I never woke up in the hospital with tubes coming out of everywhere .. Two in my arm one in my thigh and one in my neck as being the weekend here I have to wait for Monday to be told everything

Get a continuous glucose monitor, it will help with reigning in your blood sugar. You'll be able to see how your body reacts to different food. Then go to consuming whole foods. Drop processed stuff until you get healthier. Educate yourself on a many levels as you can so you can be your best advocate with your diet and excercise. If you are in the hospital or health facility request protein and salads with extra broccoli or the like. Reject the desserts,ask for real whole fruit if you need sweet. Namaste. Live long and prosper

Thank you for your kind words! I'm so glad to hear that the video was helpful for you. Managing type 2 diabetes can be challenging, but staying informed and proactive makes a huge difference. Wishing you continued health and success on your journey. God bless! 🌟❤️
Love all your suggestions, thank you for being there. I was told if I get my A1c down which I’ve gotten down to 6.3 so far my neuropathy pain will be decreased, but for some reason this is not the case at the moment. I had a stroke and then found out I was diabetic and then the neuropathy set in. My A1c was originally 11.7 when I was admitted into the hospital for my stroke. I was taking your neuropathy support which helped immensely but then for some reason they had run out of it so I went and bought supplements on the side which I’m taking right now until your neuropathy support is available. I have pain 24 seven sitting hurts, sometimes I’ll stand just to have less pain four hours, but I’m only human. Feet are constantly feel like icicles in paper bags under them and my calves and knees hurt so extremely. Any suggestions

I reversed pre -diabetes in one year. I will incorporate all of these ideas into my diet. My brother is diabetic. I had it when pregnant...I wonder how long I can keep this diabeties away if it's genetic.

Palapala K, Yes you can, by consuming plenty salads, vegetables, avocados, nuts and seeds; you can have some fish or meat sometimes and fruits WITH your meals, especially berries! You can have 2 or 3 meals a day: breakfast and dinner, or breakfast, lunch and dinner but absolutely NO snacks between! If you're having 2 meals let breakfast be the heavier meal and a light dinner. If you're having 3 meals, let breakfast and lunch be the 2 heaviest! Drink 1+1/2 -2 litres of water daily and walk briskly whenever you can. Once you continued doing all the above you shall keep it away, so you'd have to be very diligent. Good luck and God bless 🙏

Thank you for this information! I actually like all the foods you mentioned except salmon and other fatty fish. I’ve never had the noodles but will try them because I like pasta. I could also use zucchini noodles in place of pasta. My A1C is usually around 6.2 but I’d like to see it under 6. I take Metforman 500 mg morning and night and 1 10 mg glipizide. I would love to cut down the Metforman.

Of all those foods, the only ones I have not tried are chia seeds and the shirataki noodles. I know that I can find the chia seeds anywhere locally here on the SW border of Texas. But the shirataki noodles may involve ordering online. Thank you, doctor, for that reminder that I am eating healthy! Oh, and I was using gymnema sylestra; I'm getting back on that.

Wow. I use these foods and they do work. When I go to the oriental store to get the shirataku noodles I also get Glass Noodles made out if resistant starches plus I get Kuzu starch for making gravies. We spell it Kudzu. The starch is from the root and it will actually lower blood sugar. I use it with Arrowroot which is also a resistant starch. And of course I get a package of Shitaki dried mushrooms which I cook in water for 10 minutes
