Myles... I'm going to be 56 years old and I absolutely love you and Alter Bridge! My 27 year old son, my only child, introduced me to your band in 2015. My son Sean, and I were so close. We used to sing in the car together whenever we were going somewhere when he was growing up. I was always singing. It was a big part of my life when I was young. Sean grew up with my music but somehow we always kept the same love of music even after he was all grown up. When Sean introduced me to your band, Watch Over You was one of his favorite songs. Anyway, I lost Sean in an auto accident in January 2016 and that has been so hard for me to survive! A mother should never outlive her child! A mother's heart was just not made for this kind of pain! The lyrics to this song makes me think of my amazing son that I used to go to for guidance, especially after I lost my dad and Sean was getting older. He was so wise and had such a gift of seeing the whole picture of different situations, not just the tunnel! "Who'll watch over you, when I'm gone? " goes so well with my life story now; especially with the close bond we shared and being there for each other. . He's the only one I trusted to be honest with me when I was "stuck". And oh how he believed in me and kept me strong! He said that I was his inspiration to strive and be a better person every day, but he always was. I raised him that way... To be loving, forgiving, and to help others but He was that way all along. It's his spirit! His light shined so bright! I so long to hear his voice, see his handsome face, those mesmerizing baby blues, his warm loving smile, his sense of humor... God! His sense of humor! His laugh was so contagious! He is an amazing beautiful soul, and my life, my world, my heart and my soul are so very empty and lost without him! It's like I fell into a black hole! I lost my mom 4 months after I lost Sean. It's been so hard since 2016! That very last sentence in your song hits me to the core! "You long to hear my voice But I'm long gone". It's so very true! We just never know how long we have in this life. Never mind about tomorrow not being promised, only the moment we are in is promised, the next moment might never happen, so tell all the ones you love just what they mean to you right now, and show them! Don't wait because you may never have another chance. I always told Sean what he meant to me and how much I love him. That's a chance I never missed! But it still wasn't long enough! Cherish every moment you are given with your loved ones! No matter how much time you have with them, it's never long enough! Thank you for this song! Sending much love! Elaine

My best friend and guitarist/drummer died in a car accident. He's always bust out this song whenever he had even a spare second to start playing. He'd always tell me to learn it so we can perform it together, but I'd always say "Nahh. My voice isn't as powerful, as good as this" and he'd bug me about it, same as I'd bug him about performing a Green Day song with me. I can't believe that he is gone, and I'm going to sing this at his funeral. Just for him. REST IN PEACE \m/ My dear band-member, my close friend, my true brother.. James Simmons 1996 - 2014

This song makes me ugly cry. So many people, so many loved ones, I can't hear their voices anymore. I've nearly forgotten some of their faces. It's a pain that never really heals, you just get used to it. Time takes so much from us... They don't even need to have passed on. They could still be living, but they came into your life, made an impact, and then went their own direction. You're left wondering, "Where are you? What are you up to?" and whether they ever think of you, too. Whether a person has passed on, or simply traveled a diverging path, it's a deep hurt, one that this song captures so beautifully. The memories are bittersweet; you're thankful for the times you had together, but you know they're gone. Thank you, Alter Bridge, for this masterpiece. Though my heart is gripped with sorrow to listen to it, it will forever remain one of my favorite songs, because it helps me grieve. It helps me remember. Much Love, A Fan

Hi 👋, how are you doing?
@jordyndillard37758 жыл бұрын
for years this song came to play whenever I thought of my 66 year old uncle who has one of the worst cases of Scitzophrenia and dementia that I have ever seen in my life. He has been under my grandmothers care since 1979 a few years after he graduated highschool he was married to then lover Vivian .Everything seemed great and seemed like they both had full lives ahead of them until she cheated on him and it massively triggered his Scitz. He was never the same again, since then he has been in the same house day in and day out just coping with his medical conditions. He is a fighter but I also want to pay homage to my grandmother for her unconditional love and care for so many years even when it wasn't easy and she would hide tears and blindly pray for better days. The reason why this song resonates so much is because shes now 87 and getting Alzheimers and can barely take care of the both of them . If something happens to her I pray someone steps up and can watch over him and make the rest of his days on this earth as easy as possible. a few years ago his condition got pretty bad over the summer and I watched this man that I loved all of my life and looked up to severely afraid of everything around him he was completely free of of medication for several days and I my entire perspective of life in general changed that summer . That summer I grew up.

Two years ago my mother died from liver cirrhoses due to hepatitis C and suffered from a sepsis. Her last words to me where :"Are you afraid of me passing away?". I answered:" In all honesty, yes, I do." Then she said to me:"Then you should leave." Back then I didn't understand why she told me that and I left in confusion and distress. Two years later, I sit at my desk listening to Myles impersonating my mother with this song and now I understand that she just wanted me not to watch her suffering from this ugly disease she had. She loved me so much that she told me to leave the hospital and focus more on my life and striving for my goals than letting me getting dragged down because of her sickness. Not to mention that I try not to burst out in tears while listening to this song and typing this comment. I'm glad that beside my beloved mother there are some beautiful human beings out there in this cruel world who watch over us even though they might not do it conciously.

Nowadays, Myles have for sure the best voice in Rock Music. I saw him 2 times, one with Slash and other with Alter Bridge. Two performances very distinct, but both breath taking. Alter Bridge, at this is time, should be my favorite band, and it makes me sad know that these guys are so underrated, or only known because ''watch over you'' or ''metalingus''. They are the only band that I can listen to all of their 4 albums without skipping a song, so, they are doing something right in the world of music. My wish for the future is meet this guys and tell them how much they improved my life for better. Keep rockin' Myles, Mark, Brian and Scott!

This was my brothers favourite band, I always loved them since he showed them to me, although I never fully appreciated the genius behind the music until recently. I've been listening to them a lot more recently than I have done in the past. He passed away on the 1st December this year and listening to this band is a really nice way of remembering him. He also introduced me to Metallica and Rage Against the Machine, I'm forever grateful!

Didn't know about this song, I had to learn it for my band. It hits so hard though.. I feel every line in my heart. Dedicated to the she that decided to leave me behind, I still love you.. but I'm gone on my path now. Please take care, I know you don't have the strength to cause you hate yourself. You kept pushing me back when I was there to hold your back. And who's gonna watch over you?

I need someone to explain to me the voice magic Myles does at 3:30 (amongst all the other brilliance that is Myles’ voice). I play this song to everyone and make sure there is always complete silence, for total appreciation, at that point. Goosebumps every time!!

I think it's the 2nd vocalist that blends while he sings. Jim Carrey is a great singer. Sorry it's Myles.

I think about my husband and cry every time I hear this song. He's dealing with a serious addiction issue (to heroin AND alcohol and whatever else is around, from pills to crack to marijuana to sex). I eventually had to move out (I didn't end our marriage or stop loving and supporting him- it was physically unsafe to keep living with him), and it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. All I want to do is help him, to fix him, but he won't let me. Now he's really pushing me away, after 20 years together, and this song is exactly how I feel about the idea of totally leaving him. It's the most painful, heart-breaking thing I have ever experienced. He doesn't have any local family, and he's not close to them anyway, so who is going to look out for him if I am gone? He had become a part of my family, and they love him and want to help him as well. So yeah, who is going to be his support system? Who is going to take care of him? Who is going to love him like I do? I can't stomach the idea of ending it. I am so confused and broken right now. 20 years together for nothing but pain now?

This is the one song I can always come back to, especially when I feel like I need to move on. I love it and it means a lot to me. Its the kind of song that just gets embolded onto your heart like a badge. Alter bridge has gotten me through a very strange time in my life, one that is still going. But every time this song ends Im left with nothing but the silence, and it keeps me from sleeping at night. This song actually made me realize how scared I am of myself and how scared of deciding where to put myself.

Couldn't have talk to her for two days.Only two,but seems decades.Suffering from sweet violence of love. Couldn’t express the inside. And she willingly don't want sharing of the two souls.One sided love is as divine as hell. Alter Bridge hits the best these days.Magical.

This is a song I used to absolutely love and play on the guitar. At some point, I forgot it. I forgot who sang it, and forgot the lyrics, but part of the melody stuck with me. It's been replaying in my head for years now but I never heard it played again. Today, I finally had a spark and remembered part of the lyrics. Now I am reunited with the masterpiece. It's so good!!

One of the most beautiful songs ever written! Music is like a bridge leading to the end of heartache and the other side is a kingdom of solace. Sometimes it takes awhile to trust the hands reaching out on the other side to carry us to safety so we just linger upon the bridge to get away from the war behind us. I've come to believe that our loved ones, guardian angels and God are on the other side calling out to us as the music guides us closer to thier voices. I pray for anyone in this battlefield of a world suffering through the dark confinement of spiritual war and heartache. I'm lending my hand too! Dont give up! You are part of someone's life even if your alone. When you get through and find peace you can tell your story to those who need to know how you found it and neither you nor they will be alone, you'll have eachother. Until then, I'm here if you want to chat. Take care everybody.
