Alright I think 3 months is long enough lol.... A is the IR & B is the 57 & badger cab! 👍🏼

Man the "experts" in the comment section are hilarious. "What's this, a well done comparison where I was wrong? Impossible, this dude must have his sm57 backwards." I preferred B, which is unfortunate since my paper thin walls will allow no respite from load boxes and IR's.

the "experts" seem to be everywhere i go lol. thuink im going to have to put youtube down for a while. nearly completed it anyway ;)

They both sound great. I think the sm-57 is cab b. I always prefer the sound of a real mic but using irs makes life so easy, I use the two notes captor which sounds great as well especially since I live in an apartment.

Cab A: IR Cab B: real cabinet or at least I hope so 'cause Cab A sounds a hell of lot better and live in an apartment.

What is shown as Cab "B" always sounds just a bit "thin" or "airy" to me compared to the Cab "A" set up, but what do I know, I'm just a harp player

Sounds like B is leaking some unwanted vibration/resonance noise... so that's a real (just not ideal) mic giveaway. A sounds more like a professional mic sound... so could have been either a real mic or IR (if B hadn't been obvious).

Both sound great and very similar. Difficult to tell, but having to guess, I’d say b is the IR.

@@LouieLively Did you micked the cabinet using a real life SM57 on the speaker?

I don’t know which is which and I don’t even want to guess but I prefer the slightly deeper tone, to my ears anyway, of Cab B.
@hammer54754 жыл бұрын
If they weren't next to each other it would be really hard to tell either is an IR. They sound different, B sounds more focused and fizzy on the top end so I would guess B is the real cabinet but hard to know as I'm not familiar with that amp or anything. I like some of the tones with A and some with B so its really close. Overall I think B has more detail and would most likely sit better in a mix. Thanks for the interesting comparison!

Thanks! B is the 57/Cab - A is the IR 👍🏼

I can't handle the tone of B. I don't know which that one is at this point, but A is better.

@@LouieLively the other thing is that mic'ing an amp has so many variables, whereas Load IR are precisely what they are. I'm not saying that one is better than the other, but your specific comparison doesn't represent all mic'ing. There are mic'ing examples that are much much worse, and many that are far better. Mic'ing is a skill to develop. That being said, I'd really like a Load IR.
@LouieLively4 жыл бұрын
@@bisaillion I appreciate your comment but I’m very well versed in mixing a cabinet- the mic’d cab sounds the same as it does in the room. Off axis 57. Can’t fuck that up lol
@bisaillion4 жыл бұрын
@@LouieLively which part of the room? What kind of room? What's the size of the room? I don't want to come off as argumentative, I have no doubts that you're experienced, likely more than me, but there really aren't absolutes when it comes to mic techniques and variables, or even really saying "this is what X sounds like" unless it's digital... Even then. Also, kinda surprised that your primary mic would be off axis 57. Personally, I use an off axis 57 to blend with my straight 57 which is the primary signal.
@bisaillion4 жыл бұрын
All that to say, there are many variables. I still really like the sound of the Load, and their convenience is the killer feature.
@Thansferium4 жыл бұрын
A sounds much more open and alive, but could just as much be the recording chain I guess, B has some nasty noisy stuff going on in the high freqs and sounds a bit 'congested'. So on the one hand I'm planning to buy the Reactive Load and hope it's it A, but it must be B.

I hear a big difference/sacrifice with the Suhr. Can you do this with the OxBox? I liked the Suhr much better when you compared it to the Ox but here there’s some real organic juice lacking from the Suhr.
