Zach: Dig the content brother! As I was watching, my mind wandered into one of each (pickup) with multiple switching capabilities (5 way blade or perhaps a 10 way). I’m in the “seeking” stage for another guitar and wasn’t aware of the JM; now I’m intrigued. So glad I found your channel. ✌️

Another great video man! I played the thornbuckers a couple of times, but I prefer the Cremas for clean stuff, they sound awesome, too bad it gets expensive to ship them to Europe :/

Good stuff. I'm surprised the Cremas didn't have more high-end than the Thornbuckers. Thorbuckers seem to have just a little more gain to them. The Alt-T tones at the 3:40 mark are just about perfect to me. Wes

I was actually surprised side by side too. They were very similar! At higher gain tones I really enjoyed the Cremas where I thought I'd prefer the Thornbuckers.

@@ZachBrobstMusic I want to put a Bridge Humbucker on my Suhr Strat. I have narrowed-it-down to: (3) Lambertone Crema, Suhr Thornbucker or Lollar low-wind Imperial. Which one will Retain the most: single-coil-like Tone profile. ( I do prefer clarity, & low-output pickups ) ?
@ZachBrobstMusic3 жыл бұрын
@@michael_caz_nyc Hey man! I think the Crema is going to give you the best "strat", single coil like tone. You won't notice a tremendous difference in output but I think you will if you go with something hotter like the imperial or thornbuckers. BUT if you want more oomph in the bridge I'd suggest the thornbuckers.

Agree with your comment about how the Thornbuckers sound sound when they are split. I have a Suhr Custom Classic Antique S with Thornbuckers in the neck and middle with a Thornbucker Plus in the bridge. The are all wired to be split. They don't sound bad but I would never put them up against the V63 in my other Suhr Antique S. I have various humbuckers from other manufacturers in my Gibsons but would love to load up a Thornbucker/Thornbuckers Plus set in a 59 Reissue LP.

I think the Thornbuckers sound particularly good in Fender-style guitars. I imagine that the Crema might bring out the mids in an LP better, but the TBs sound better in this demo.

Hey Derek! I think the JM is a more comfortable body style. Both the necks will feel super similar in comparison between the Alt T and JM but that's one of my favorite features. Zach, I know that this is an older video to respond, but I am in a quandary over thornbucker vs. Crema for my 2007 Gibson ES335 (satin finish). This particular guitar is very midrangy, almost nasal (particularly the bridge pickup). That said, if it was your "guess" would you try the Creama pickups or the thornbuckers? I serve/perform P&W in an LA church every month, so P&W is the genre/tone I seek. Brad
@ZachBrobstMusic Жыл бұрын
Hi there Brad! I think you'd love the Cremas then. They are very controlled and have an amazing amount of clarity. The Thornbuckers are some of my all time favorite pickups but given how midrangey your guitar is and the naturally brighter high end from those pickups I'm not sure they'd sound as nice.

Do you think the looser low end on the Thornbucker guitar is more due to the pickups or semi-hollow body? Perhaps it’s both, but I thought that was one of the main differences so curious what you think. Thanks!
