Ehh, it's basically just a reinforcing question really. If someone ask/say this to you, especially on matter of research, it's just to confirm that you do in fact have a solid reason on doing the things you did. Basically, you really did do your own research. It's also the easiest way for people to see if you really know your stuff.

I love tetris so much I don't think there's ever a point where I'd be satisfied with my tetris knowledge even though i studied tspins and combos and perfect clears for literal years
@jonatanluna1061
@jonatanluna1061 Жыл бұрын
@@NonJohns Idk I only started studying tetris techniques because I got into tetris99 and wanted to last at least half the round without getting obliterated. I eventually got fast enough that i pretty regularly get into the top 10 and occasionally the top 3. But i didn't get much further than T spin double as far as advanced techniques go. I think my normal placing style is a bit sloppy too. Basically I lost interest in advanced techniques/strategy for a while but I may give it another go now.

In a nutshell: avoid piece dependencies, stack flat, avoid stacking over holes unless necessary, look at the queue so you know when to save piece, and master basics (SRS and counting to 4)
@christiancinnabars1402
@christiancinnabars1402 Жыл бұрын
I appreciate this Iroh ahh "master the basics" form of teaching. Usually, when getting good at a competitive game, people immediately jump to an expert's level of speed and try to brute force learn the mechanics at that level. Especially if there is an upcoming contest/tourney on the horizon. Which is why you get moments like 2:43, where Miko felt pressured to keep a high speed pace and hard dropped a piece in the wrong place.

I actually like Sui-chan's advice. Avoid placing blocks vertically as often as possible. Avoid leaving gaps 2 blocks deep. Leaving space 2 squares wide is efficient for clearing blocks without being fundamentally reliant on line pieces. Sui-chan also gave some advice to Shigure Ui and more recently Takane Lui

i'm in shock. I played many times tetris, but I never knew you could do a kind of 180 flip of a piece in a narrow space.
@survival602
@survival602 Жыл бұрын
You can’t 180 spin pieces in a single button press in this game since it’s a guideline official game that follows Super Rotation System(SRS). SRS is the reason you can kick a piece into narrow positions like you saw in the video but it’s only flipping by 90 degrees. In fan versions of the game however there are buttons that can allow you to flip 180.

1:57 if you put the blue there, there won't be any place for the green except for clearing lines, and then you'll get another problem with the red blocks right after. Putting the blue block on the left most is actually bad.

If I'm not mistaken, since the skill level of every participant is pretty much even at the learningnovice level (eg, no one is an advanced player using DT cannons or T-spins), means the competition will very heavily depend on their speed, decision making and chaining at the very core. There's going to be the occasional T-spin if someone has learned them, makes or finds an opening for them, but it shouldn't critically imbalance the playing field at this point of time. There's no rubber-banding or randomness, like in Mariokart or Pokemon Metronome.

It's a switch title called Puyo Puyo Tetris with a lot of content. I played in a tournament at PAX West once; it has Tetris-only get modes, although Puyo is interesting to try, especially in competition with Tetris; Puyo actions per minute is a lot lower than Tetris which tends to require a lot of quick and precise button presses; Puyo has more combo potential with fewer moving pieces but has a steeper learning curve.
