For those that don't know, Botchi Boromaru is the one man band that performs the ending song 'Kamakura Style' for the currently airing anime The Elusive Samurai.

Personally, I prefer the ‘Idol Vtuber’ label over the ‘virtual idol’ one The latter makes her origin seem more like a vocaloid than a Vtuber, as she mentioned in the clip lol

I mean, I gess the original "idol vtuber" does still roll of the tongue better but it really isn't a big deal I think.

Regardless of what she calls herself, she'll always be an idol in our eyes

The description that is "Idol VT'er" still fits Suisei even though she rarely does karaoke livestreams lately

She is senior enough to know what she want to do and focusing on what she like is probably for the best. She also have good connection and could easily connect with other holomem and join huge colab to give support to others holomem.

I was so glad when I heard her say this because I read a lot of those comments while scratching my head. I get that some people like to start doomsaying to distance themselves to brace for it, but hooo boy did I read a lot of similar comments.

Ahhh doomposters, always bringing the overall mood down But i can understand why just in this specific case, virtual idol really does sounds something bigger than a normal vtuber and probably made they think that she was not going to stream anymore and just focus on doing songs instead

but even back when she made the change she explained very clearly why she was doing it, to non-vtuber fans in Japan "Virtual Idol" is much easier to understand and she wanted to attract a bigger audience.

In the defense of those confused, Virtual Idol comes off as way more oriented towards music and production than regular streaming and content creation. With the newer opportunities and deals, Suisei has been investing more and more time and effort into her music career, and there are only 24 hours in a day. After she said that, I did expect her to gradually reduce her non-musical activity until it was a token "rest day" thing at most, if not gone entirely along with Hoshimachi Suisei becoming an all-music IP. In idol/school terms, not a graduation, but change in course. Needless to say, I was never so happy to be incorrect. 💙☄️💙

I think Sui-chan took "vtuber" too literally. People these days just refer to "people on the internet with a virtual avatar" as a vtuber, even people who stream exclusively on twitch are vtubers. Its basically used as a catchall now. As with others, i also prefered "Idol V-tuber Hoshimachi Suisei". It just feels better to say and hear imo.

in the first place, i personally never tied vtuber with youtube because i saw many vtubers in twitch. maybe in japan they thought vtubers are must be in youtube?
@GoodOleDFT

Maybe, maybe not. Remember that Twitch may be weak in Japan, but they have Nico Nico Douga, a platform of significant size.

because vtuber word is short of virtual youtuber and it blows up in youtube until people at twitch doing it too
@tomaO2

Looks like it's exactly what I thought. Suisei had an incorrect idea of what it means to be a vtuber. It was never about just being on youtube, it's a general term in the way that you say google instead of internet search engine. Moreover, vtuber idols has a high level of saturation in Japan. The audience you are courting knows what a vtuber is, and the ones that don't can still understand what an idol is, so they can quickly find out about the vtuber aspect. I really don't see any advantages to calling yourself a virtual idol.
@GoodOleDFT
@GoodOleDFT 18 күн бұрын
Yep, she didn't catch that 'vtuber' is a metonymy by now. KZbin could disappear and the term would still likely stick unless something catchier pops up, and I don't see that happening from here so far.
@TheGreatMaou
@TheGreatMaou 15 күн бұрын
that may be how you view it but that's not really how most non-vtuber fans in Japan view the term, the whole reason she changed it was to help attract a larger audience and "Virtual Idol" is very easy to understand.
