I make my own suits since I am a tailor. But I think gutteridge in my eyes is the best value brand. But just available in Italy. Also taglaitore is ahold one of the rack. Suitsupply is in my eyes not a good suit. To overpriced for the construction inside. Basically like Boss. Just that they act more as a tailor. But actually the same quality and too high price.
@johanhirte96614 жыл бұрын
Tom Reid Maybe u can find them in ur country. I’m sure they also export at least tagliatore.
@johanhirte96614 жыл бұрын
Tom Reid tagliatore just has napoletanian shoulders. (No patches inside, just horsehair plaque) The lapels are a bid wider at tagliatore. So u won’t look so bulk in then when u have higher shoulders. 1. Get a good shirt that fits u perfectly. Measure ur body (there must be a explanation on the website) Hawes and Curtis is a really nice shirt maker from London and the price is really good for the quality. They also make shirts in different lengths for the sleeves what is good because that is the problem of most when they buy shirts. www.hawesandcurtis.de/herren/hemden/business Buy one on sale and check them out if u want. But measure ur sleeves length and other parts and just order one that really fits. For the collar of the shirt: close the highest button and put 1-2 fingers inside. If it is still comfortable that’s is ur collar size. But that is all explained on the website I think. Then when u buy tagliatore. They will cost like 800$ but on sale (and many don’t know the brand so there is often sale) 500$ is a very nice price for them. And definitely worth it. Tagliatore suits have wider lapels which is good if u have wide shoulders. Just keep in mind that ur tie should be also 8cm wide. Don’t combine it with slim ties. That is my advice that I can give to u. For looking like 1 mio bucks on a budget. (Or at least way better than 90% of all people that wear a suit for work) Go to a tailor afterwards and let him make everything perfect. When u buy the suit look that the shoulders fit. That is the most important.

Eric Rodriguez hard to say. All I can say is that they have mtm, Italian fabrics that are much higher quality then indochino. Natural canvassing, functioning button holes, you can choose lining, fit, pockets, buttons, lapels etc. overall much better fabric, fit and construction over indochino which is barely a step up from men’s wearhouse.

Yeah, working sleeve buttons can't really be altered unless you do an added in button because it will change the proportions on the sleeve. So it is better to forgo working sleeve buttons if you know the sleeve will need to be extended/shortened otr. You would need to do a mtm if your arms don't fit their otr

I like indochino a bit better just because of the customization options given and price. Ive had a very good experience with them, plus Im not too picky on extreme quality of suits.
@archipelago93765 жыл бұрын
Especially since Indochino added more options a couple months back (especially soft-shoulder, which they inexplicably manually tailored after delivery before), I'd pick them. Indeed, Suit Supply fabrics can be better, but the suits are more expensive to begin with--and what annoys me most is how they charge for tailoring. Imo it should be included, but not even the hem is. So whereas Indochino will be ~$-380-$500 for most suits with 1) custom fit from your measurements from the start, 2) very nice fabrics, and 3) with all tailoring included, a Suit Supply suit may have a better fabric, but it'll be about $500-$800 + $80-$125 in tailoring. So considering it might cost you twice as much, Indochino is the clear value winner imo.
@63CommonSense6 жыл бұрын
Very educational video about company’s suits. They both seem to work well for you but the purple one really stands out even though it is a slightly lessor quality suit. Most people wear cheap suits and can’t tell the difference so I think it comes down to what’s important to the buyer. Indochino would probably work best for me because I’m tall, have an athletic build with wide shoulders so off the rack suits don’t work for me.
@tommyjohn_456 жыл бұрын
One other negative to Suit Supply is that the pant size is based on the jacket size. I often find that with my jacket size, the pant size is 2 sizes too big. Sort of forced to get them tailored, which doesn't always look the best when you're taking 2"+ off the waist.
@gentslounge6 жыл бұрын

Guys, not sure about the US, but in Europe they offer a range of mixed size suits on their website. You might even consider going custom made (still talking about the website) which allows you to choose the fabric, size and cut of the trousers (independently of the cut of the jacket), size and cut of a waistcoat (optional), and some details like belt loops or side adjusters, and turnups. I did it myself, went for a navy suit in a 48r jacket, a 46 waistcoat and 46 trousers. Suits are well priced, not a bargain if you go made to measure. The online customer care is exceptional and with made to measure suits you can return each piece separately, get refunded and order a new one. I'm from Italy and to me it doesn't make much sense to compare suitsupply with brands like zegna o canali. First of all Zegna has an undisputed reputation for his fabrics. That's not enough to charge those prices on off the rack suits which usually fit pretty bad on young athletic guys. If you can afford those prices just go to a good tailor and buy some Zegna or other luxurious fabrics. Don't forget that suitsupply does offer a range of different cuts which fit totally different. In my case, Havana is the one which fits me the best, followed by Washington (with both of them I didn't need to tailor the jackets at all and you can't see any collar gap or crease in the shoulder area!) and Lazio. I had to return a wonderful Napoli because of the extreme collar gap. After some suits of different brands there's one thing I'm sure about...Fit is King! Use your budget to get the best fitting suit you can. Hope this late and long comment helps!

I've got two Indochino suits and I love them. The first suit was a plum plaid and it was super bold. The only problem I had with it was the shoulders were a little too long (but not terribly long). The next suit was an emerald green and it was great! Fit, design, color, etc, epic. I would agree that the quality of fabric is not the best, but definitely better than some of my off the rack suits in the same price range. I haven't tried suit supply yet, but I can say that when it come to made to measure, the best quality suit maker I have found so far is Oliver Wicks. Their fit and quality of fabric is just breathtaking. I just ordered another suit from them and I plan to keep them as one of my main suit suppliers. However, when it comes to bold suits, I definitely order from Indochino.

I can only compare Indochino with Joseph A Bank as that’s what I have. I do believe that I like my Indochino suits much better than the Bank suits. They’re better constructed and as you mention in the video you can get just about any color you wish. I’m also thinking the Style Guides won’t laugh or even scream at you but they will work with you to achieve a well constructed suit you’ll be proud to wear. The Guides will also recommend accessories that will complement the suit, they will ask you if you’re comfortable wearing French Cuffs, what type tie you prefer (I like bow ties more), and a lot of other things that you might not think of or that you hadn’t worn so it’s like getting a full wardrobe consultation. I don’t know if anybody else would take care of you to this degree, but as my Style Guide Jackson says, it’s all about making you happy as well as making you look good. The ultimate goal is to have a suit that looks like it’s meant for you alone.

Okay, you're the first person to say what I've thought for some time about Indochino suits, they're very bland. I'd rather work harder,...save $250 or $300 dollars more, and get something with more character and better material. I've thought this since the first time I saw an Indochino ad. Even the models they hired to wear and display their product did not look very good in their suits, I felt. The Indochino suit seemed more like military issue than style. They fit, yes,...but a grey or navy Indochino suit is nothing to get excited about.

In all fairness and with all due respect, not all gentlemen are looking to pop with their suit. They want a suit that fits well, with a nicer quality of fabric and good cost. I'd say indochino supplies the workhorse suits whereas suit supply is more for standing out on that night on the town.

I got to say, I think indochino could be great especially at their pride point. I got a gift card for indochino so I ended up getting a suit, I got fitted, I had to wait a few weeks. The first suit I got had super short sleeves, which needed to be altered even though I got fitted already. The back of the suit neck was kind of ruffled and the pants were way too big. So I had to make an appointment now , after scheduling an appointment to get measured. The jacket had to be re done because of the ruffling issue behind the neck. They changed the suit sleeve length on the computer end , so the new jacket came in and the sleeves were good, and I had to pick up the pants once they were altered. I wasn’t too happy with the fit overall. If you need something time sensitive , I’d be weary of getting an indochino suit. The suit could’ve came out great but I think it’s safer to get something OTR and have it altered.

The sleeve adjustment leaving the buttons so far back is an absolute deal breaker for me. Indochino would have cut you a new jacket. You’re comparing MTM with OTR and that’s like apples and oranges. Olive Wick or Black Lapel are much better comparisons to Indochino.
@ryanpage95285 жыл бұрын
I work as a style guide for Indochino and you are absolutely right. The problem with functional buttonholes is that they cannot be moved in alterations, and there is a limit to how much the sleeve length can be altered whether it be longer or shorter. That is why I always suggest non functional buttons for someones first suit with us to make sure we don't need to remake it and throw away an otherwise beautiful blazer. And yes, if the sleeves were too short by that much, I would absolutely make you a brand new, better blazer.

I don't have either but my next suit will be from indochino for sure. I just started my sartorial journey and just bought my first suit.... And now... I'm hooked! When i wear the suit i feel like a million bucks. I can only imagine with a custom M2M suit!

So Indochino gets docked for being “too basic,” but Suit Supply gets points for having fewer customized options….

Just because you can choose options that look basic make it less basic.

Wow! I came into this video expecting to hear that I was going to be told that suit supply was the way to go but I am actually impressed with indochino! I had no idea that they were custom made suits and not off the rack! Great Video, got a new subscriber and I like this video!

What are you talking about... Suitsupply offers Made to Measure options.... you can pick from over 600 italian fabrics etc. And you can customize the fit etc. Although you obviously have to go to a store!

Without watching the video.... I have owned both. Suit supply is highly superior in their off the rack fit and fabric options. I am a suit supply fan boy, but only because they earned my loyalty through quality fit, customer service, and just dang good looking suits/coats/trousers

nice video George! some points you mentioned...i didn't hear from others before.. anyway, i hope you fix your collar when wearing a tie. or if that is not possible, please don't wear this shirt with a tie. if you take a close look at the collar (in this video), you will know why i said it! cheers!

“They didn’t move the buttons when they extended the sleeve, or they didn’t add another button”. That’s not a service they offer plus it takes way too much time to cover up old holes to make new ones to move them closer to the sleeve hem. One of the nuances of OTR.
@gentslounge6 жыл бұрын
I understand that.

That Indochino suit looks👌 on you. Bold colour but you pull it off well, sir. Regarding the choice between the two. I got the suit supply for my graduation ball 5 years ago. Fantastic quality for any suit company even up to £1000 in UK.

Indochino got a 2/10 from me. Great experience and nice suit, but they measured me wrong 3x. They measure me wrong twice at one location, the city im near had another one so i went to that and they messed up too. I ended up getting it for free because of this but the headache it caused was unreal. I live 45 minutes away and having to drive 3x for this was a joke.

Modern suits look "too small" to me... Kind of like seeing a grown man trying to wear his son's clothes. Which is scary... Doesn't anyone think that maybe today's "slim suit" will soon become 1976's bell bottoms? Also- thought I'd add this... Regardless of who or where you order a suit, shirts, shoes, whatever... Consider going to a local tailor or seamstress and have them measure you. You could even watch a tutorial video on how to measure, and have a friend or spouse do it... All you'd need is a "dressmaker's tape"... I'm certain it would be only a nominal fee to have it done professionally, though. You can then be sure, and send those measurements along to whichever manufacturer you choose.

The biggest problem are the too short trousers. It is an (already degradig) trend and in now way classy, dudes look like clowns in this style and in business context no one will take you seriosly with too short trousers. It is just laughable.

I loved my Suitsupply suit. Great fit, but after three months of wearing the suit for work maybe once a week, the crotch fabric started pilling hard, and eventually blew out. When I contacted Suitsupply, they were not interested in the least bit about fixing it, even when I offered to pay for a repair. They just tried to sell me a new pair of pants. Was rather sad, really, seeing as how a local tailor fixed it no problem.

1.) Suitsupply carries shorts and long’s so they have fits for everyone. 2.) Suitsupply also offers MTM or “custom” as well and has more accurate measurement points then indochino with a TON of fabric choices, lapel choices, button choices, lining etc. 3.) Alteration costs are some of the most affordable in the industry 4.) Fabric quality is NOT a “small” thing. Suitsupply offers some of the finest Italian fabrics in the world. Indochino’s fabric looks cheap like men’s wearhouse. 5.) Suitsupply offers more super counts 6.) You can get bold fabric suit and jackets at Suitsupply or your basic navy and gray work suit. 7.) Suitsupply uses vertical integration to control cost and pricing, giving you suits that start at $399-$1100, that other companies charge you $1500+ for. 8.) Suitsupply uses natural fibers for canvassing. 9.) NO COMPARISON between Suitsupply and indochino. Suitsupply is far and away a better brand. Unfortunately this guy doesn’t seem to have the knowledge to make this video.

Have a few suits from suitsupply, love them all, but was really frustrated with my latest purchase. I'm 6'3", with really long arms and always need the suit sleeves extended a bit but this time the consultant messed up - she picked a regular sized suit, not the longer version, so after I got my suit tailored - the sleeves looked ridiculous, way worse than what George mentions in the video. Nobody notices but it annoys the heck out of me every time I see. That being said, I'm still going to be buying from suitsupply in the future, but will be more careful next time and not blindly trust the consultants

@gentslounge6 жыл бұрын
With custom you have a little more adjustment area but essentially as long as it fits in the shoulders everything can be tailored for a price.
