As you said the experience would differ from showroom to showroom and salesperson to salesperson. Mine was pleasant as I was given enough time to choose my fabric and I was quite satisfied with the way my measurements were taken. When the suits arrived the jacket was a bit loose and the trouser was a bit short. They fixed it within a week's time and I was told that my measurements were updated in their system. I ordered 3 more suits and these were perfect, I didn't have to go back to showroom as these 3 suits were absolutely perfect.

Great video and honest review! I wore my first MTM suit from Indichino suit for my wedding 3 years ago. The jacket was spot on but my pants were too long and had way too much fabric from the thigh down. Took it to my tailor and he fixed the issue. Had Indochino fixed the problem, they wouldn’t have finished it in time for the wedding. Cheers to all the reliable tailors!!

Thanks for chiming in. It’s common to need alterations with any custom, MTM, or bespoke suit (until your pattern is dialed in). Wasn’t out of the ordinary to have an issue with the pants, but it was the severity of the problem when they came the second time that was interesting to me.

Hello all... I have had a very wide suit experience .... beginning with a beautiful made to measure Ralph Lauren back in 1989 .... fantastic and loved it. Graduated to multiple Brioni’s from Neiman Marcus, Valentino, Kiton and even a Dominico Vacca - Prince of Wales double breast ... I spent a bloody fortune! A very close friend of mine recently got a post COVID 19 Neiman Marcus deal on an off the rack Tom Ford suit $1650 for a $5400 suit - that looked fabulous on him ... I called my Neiman guy and he said that was very short period ... oh well my loss and Newman’s. This is my reasoning to attempt and replicate a Tom Ford suit via Indochino?? Crazy presumption?? Yes I agree ... The only suits and jackets I have are the Domenico Vacca, Valentino crushed velvet dinner jacket and Kiton duponi silk dinner jacket. Then I tried so many more affordable off the rack suits .... horrible even after having my professional tailor attempt to fix the suits. Well .... I then tried Indochino. .... my first 3 suits were just okay. The pant legs were a little short, leg rise a little too short ... the suit felt compromised and of course a little cheap but the value was too good to pass up. I went back after a year and told the showroom person my concerns and refit .... went to a 3.5 peak lapel, slightly longer pants .... lower rise in the crotch.... the suits were perfect and needed zero modifications. Here is what I love about the Indochino program .... The fabric samples and lay out Pic stitching Wide lapels Working sleeve button wholes Dak waistband if requested Slanted pockets Ticket pockets Creative control over the lining, the buttons For the money .... one cannot beat the Indochino program .... it’s not perfect but boy oh boy it is really good. I bought 5 suits 3 standard and two luxury fabrics ..... I like the standard better for some reason .... I will go back and get a few more for fun! Good luck ... have fun!

Great review. I had a very similar experience with the brand. I chose to give Indochino a try for my wedding suite. I wish I would’ve gone with a different brand. My biggest negative was the showroom experience. Every employee is extremely young (nothing against younger workers). The employees seemed to have had very “cookie-cutter” training for tailoring and they didn’t give off a very passionate energy when it came to suites and fit.

Actually, with the help of my tailor, I would say that the pants fit great. The jacket needs some help, particularly in the pitch of the sleeve, the way the back lays, and the armholes being too low, which gives it a boxy look.

Very helpful and credible advice! I too purchased my first Indochino suit - DB herringbone in light brown - from a showroom. The fit was almost perfect; the pants required minor alterations. The lining wasn’t the same fabric I had originally selected. Where I was disappointed was in the limited customization and the lack of knowledge regarding the fabric sourcing. Since then I have opted for Suitreview which sources from SuitSupply. At this stage it’s all about quality.

Indochino has worked great for me. For an average consumer at a financial level, indochino is one of the better ways of attaining a suit. I usually have to have my indochino suits altered, but again, for an average consumer, indochino is the way to go in terms of affordability. I still agree with your entire critique though!

After having purchased 3 suits from Indochino, I keep coming back to your video Brian. You nailed just about everything. One thing I’ve noticed is that the quality overall is really good for the price, however I would never buy side adjusters again. All 3 of my trousers have either ripped or fallen off. At first I thought it was a mistake on my end, tightening them too much. Come to find out, it’s fairly common. I will probably continue to buy from them, as the price point is perfect for my state in life now, and a tailored suit is the single BIGGEST confidence boost for a man in my opinion. At 5’9 165 lbs I can find off the rack suits that fit well, but something crafted to your body just can’t be beat, especially at this price point. Thanks for all your hard work with your videos! The fact that I can get trustworthy advice for free is just insane to me. Going to go pour myself a Negroni and finish my book. Cheers my friend!

I mean, it's not a full MTM experience because you're not going to get the same options as you would with most makers, but you're paying less. Also indochino is half canvas not fused. I have had to dry clean one of my Indos and there was no bubbling. It's half canvas for sure. I have two indo's. Will I get another one, probably. Negs: 1. no hand stitching as far as I know. because of that the lapel roll is not going to be the best, and the suit doesn't move all that well with you. It feels heavier than it should. 2. lining material. Unlike the video, when I was there you could pick from so many linings. all kinds of funky stuff. The problem is it's crap material. It doesn't breath. As a result they make for poor summer suits, not bad in the winter though, although you'd still want a more breathable lining no matter the temp. 3. choices. I think you have two lapel sizes to choose from. You can't adjust the buttoning point, you can't play around with the gorge. Other things, like cuffs on the trousers, I think you get one size and that's it. Positives: 1. Providing you go into a showroom they should be able to dial you in pretty good. The one in calgary anyway is pretty good. The guy who measured me for my suit really dialed me in. 2. If you are hard to fit, then this is the best choice for you. I'm 44r but pretty round, I can't buy a 3 piece off the rack because the vest needs to be like 48 almost, at which point it's too long. The only way I can have a three piece is MTM, and Indo is far and away the cheapest route. 3. Fabric selection. Agree with this video, rather than looking at tiny swaths, which is what you'll do even if Canali, you can handle a big scarf. gives a good idea of what you're buying. 4. Price. Don't be such a picky baby. This applies to me. You're paying $500 for a half canvas MTM you cheap bastard, and you're complaining because you want a 1 and 1/4 cuff (that's usually my go to) or because you want the gorge an inch higher? Whatever buttercup. Deal. It's a $500 suit. the biggest negs are the lining material and the lapel roll. Lapel roll being the biggest neg of all. Also these negs might not be negs for too much longer, a few years ago indo was all fused suits. now they are half canvas construction. Maybe in a year they'll start with some hand stitching and with some better lining materials for an upcharge. Do I suggest one? depends. If someone is really heavy or really skinny it's a good call. If someone wants something specific like peak lapels or rope shoulders it's a good call. If someone is trying to outfit a wedding party it's a good call. If someone wants a good, basic suit and doesn't care about customization and generally a normal size something like a Jack Victor (also a half canvas suit) is better. Wool is about the same quality but the lining materials is better and the construction better.

@Pizza Pizza I don't see why??? If they produce those that is extra SKU for each one. 48S, 48, 48L and if they do slim versions that is another 3 per chest size. They do custom in store and MTO online that can be taken further than the 46, sometimes 48s they stop at.

Just received my Indochino "Luxury" Harrowgate Charcoal Windowpane suit. My showroom/measurement experience was good, had a good staff member, answered all of my questions and took lots of measurements. The suit arrived within 4 weeks to Canada from China/Taiwan...so not bad. The fit is excellent for the most part, sleeves are a tad narrow at the cuff for a French cuff shirt, but otherwise, I'm impressed...and I'm a big guy who bought a tailored fit so not easy to get right. I'm marginally happy with the fabric quality. I chose one of the "Luxury" line fabrics and frankly it seems a little thin....so we'll see how it holds up. But the look of the fabric/pattern is nice. Honestly though, not sure if there's much difference between their Luxury fabrics line and the lower tier stuff, apart from pattern availability. So we'll see how the suit works out long term....paid $800 and change CAD, with tax. I've spent twice that at Harry Rosen for made to measure and they f*cked up my orders twice! That said, the fabric was much nicer.

My experience was similar to yours. I went to Indochino to purchase a suit for my wedding and didn't know what to expect. Never heard of them and only went to them because they had a specific fabric design that I liked called the Lancaster Stretch Check Light Blue Suit. When I went to the showroom I also found that they had an odd way of measuring - they told me they go off of silhouettes. When I got my suit 4 weeks later the length of the pants was great, the width of the thigh, knee and leg opening were also perfect. However, the seat was a little tight to the point it felt like it was wedging. Had to get that adjusted, of course. Jacket length was good and although he measured my wrist circumference correctly, the wrist on the suit was wide. Came correctly on the bicep, but widens out at the wrist. The shoulder length felt a quarter inch short and the stomach was a bit snug. Indochino made the modifications to my suit except for the wrist, which was still left wide. I took that to a different tailor that I trusted and he fixed that issue in time before my wedding. All in all, for budget customized suits it isn't bad and the suit looked good for my wedding after the necessary modifications, but I wasn't impressed either upon getting it and even thought if I should just go elsewhere to get a different suit at first. Fortunately I didn't and it was saved after two alterations. Are they better than going to a traditional bespoke suit store? I wouldn't say so, but if you're on a budget or if you happen to see the perfect fabric design like I did, then it may be worth it.

Enjoyed the very honest review. I myself had a positive experience with Indochino. I think the key is being measured in a showroom versus self measure. The man who measured me at the King of Prussia location was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. My suit was also not packaged as well as I hoped, however, I get every suit I buy cleaned and pressed anyway before wear. The suit for me was on point first try. The only alteration I had done was having a crotch liner added. The thing I like about Indochina is that I can be a bit of a creator myself. I prefer wider peak lapels in a single breast option. I also like train ticket pockets. I have a few completely bespoke suits, however, it is hard to find a wide peak lapel in a knock around suit.

Great honest review! Such feedback is definitely needed! I had a somewhat similar experience. I think because they are shipping it with your initial measurements, they intentionally leave more space to make tailoring easier. With that being said, I had two additional alterations with them from the initial purchase also requiring them to send a new jacket because the half-canvas was a bit too thick for me. They were able to get the perfect fit for me, but it did take about 1.5 months. Imo, its' a great starter option and is cost-effective as they will cover all the charges to ensure that you're satisfied. I wouldn't recommend it if your looking for quality like SuitSupply or higher-end MTM brands or if you're crunched for time as it might take a while before they are able to get the fit right.

They took all the measures, asked for my preferences, gave suggestions. The pants were flawless. The jacket size was great, although I am not sure about the shoulders width. Really appreciate the honesty. In Europe it wasn’t easy in the past to get so that’s the reason I haven’t tried it. My only mtm experience is with Suitsupply in Amsterdam and Milano. The Milano one was not that great and the one in Amsterdam was amazing, I’m guessing it’s because they spoke waaay better english in Holland. The fabric selection is endless and there are plenty of options to customise. I was curious of an online mtm experience even if it meant I’ll have less options to customise because while I use the excuse of a city break to get 2-3 jackets or suits it’s starting to get expensive when you factor in travelling costs

In summer 2018 I was in Houston on vacation from my home country in Lagos, Nigeria it was my first visit to the US, and I had planned to make at least 5 custom made office suits in Houston. I had googled some few made to measure stores and settled for Indochino or Jos .A. Bank, my visit to Indochino at the Galleria mall was very disappointing, I met a bearded man and a lady, I was initially ignored after a while the bearded guy attended to me and I asked some few questions about the process and asked if it could be shipped since I've got just 1 week left in Houston, he told me no in an annoying manner and I took a walk and headed to Jos.A. service wasn't great at all. I have been a sales manager and consultant for many years in a multinational company so I know what kind of service's I expect. I agree with you on the displayed fabric, it was great at least you can see what you want.

It is very uncommon to hear about such an honest and unbiased review like yours. I wish I had listened to this review before ordering my suit from Indochino. Honestly, I was very disappointed as the suit was my first customed suit. I thought it was going to be a step up from my previous already-made $ 200 JF Ferrari suits. I went to the show room in Milwaukee to have my measurement taken. The showroom experience was great. The saleperson was very knowledgeable and helpful. My suit arrived about a month later, looking totally like something picked off the rack, nothing customized. My measurements were totally messed up.

Love this review. I was, actually, going back and forth between Indochino and Suit Supply. I was leaning more towards S.S. This video, effectively, made my decision easier. As a sidebar, I would love to go truly bespoke. But, my suit wearing days are limited to Sunday's and special events. Therefore, I can't justify the price in doing so.

As a young dude that is suit shopping on a budget, IC has been an OK suit for my price range. However, I’ve had fit issues multiples times with the suits I have received, and I’m not confident they can deliver without any problems. Normally, the sleeves come out of the box too long with a weird uneven opening. Between waiting for a fixed garment/taking it to my tailor, it’s not worth it to me anymore. This review has solidified that opinion of mine, thanks Brian!

Thank you for this video. I appreciate your review/critique of Indochino. It is a pity though that you flat out would not recommend them. I have 4 Indochino suits and like you I experienced a few issues when I got my first one. The fit of the jacket was spot on. It was about an inch longer than I preferred but it quickly grew on me. The pants fit perfectly around the waist but the length was a tad bit longer than desired. I quickly realized that if I wear them with suspenders the length was actually perfect. The opening was a standard 8" which was about an inch wider than I prefer. I do my own pants alterations and that was a minor issue so I just tapered them myself. My second suit was a double breasted suit... I had ordered this one before I had a chance to try the first so the issues were the same. Only problem though was that for a double breasted that length was way too long. They offered a remake and it came back perfect - jacket length, trouser length and leg opening. Their customer service was excellent and I subsequently bought two more which fit perfectly out of the box. I would definitely recommend Indochino for anyone who wants a decent suit and dont have a ton of money to splurge. If you are looking for a perfect fit out of the box then this may not be for you. You will need to get minor adjustments to ensure its perfect. If that's too much hastle and you have the money then by all means go bespoke.

The salesperson is everything. I have 2 indochino suits. The first one a bought years ago and the fit was so bizarre I had to take it to my tailor for several adjustments. I live in a smaller city in canada so I don't exactly have a huge selection of retailers. I saw several reviews of people saying the brand had put in some work to be better and decided to give them a second chance. The salesperson was great in terms of giving time, discussing and altering fit and I was very happy with my second suit. Not a perfect suit and not nearly as good as bespoke but for the price it is solid. I've since bought a few shirts and I have tweaked my measurements with the brand a few times to get it dialed in but I'm happy with what they provide for me now. It took a while to get there, but it fits great and I've since bought a few shirts and casual pants. I don't disagree with this review and can see why anyone could feel this way about the brand. Again, if you're willing to put the time in and get it right, it can be a great option.

Another great soup-to-nuts video...thanks for all the detail, Brian. I'm in the process of having a sport coat made at Indochino. So far, so good. I really liked my salesman (the store manager), didn't feel rushed etc., and felt he had good attention to detail with measurements, but this was my first made to measure experience, so nothing to compare it to. I've heard lot of good things about Oliver Wicks too and may try them next time, but I like the idea of a brick and mortar where someone can measure me, and where I can see all the fabrics which O Wicks doesn't offer. My Indochino coat arrived last week and was really, really close, providing a better fit than any sport coat off the rack that I've ever tried. There was about a 1/2" of extra fabric in the front toward the top which they're taking in, and I asked them to shorten the length 1/2" too. They updated my measurements to my profile so future coats should fit better. I know you had your tailor alter your pant length - wasn't Indochino willing to do that for you? Also, do you have any opinions in general about origin of fabrics? I understand they use Chinese fabrics vs. O Wick's British or Italian. Do you think Chinese fabrics are inferior, or less durable? Sorry if that's a loaded question! Thanks, Brian.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm sure the brand would have done it for me, but since I'd already had them remake the pants once and I didn't have time to go through that process a third time before I was required to create content for them, I went with the option I knew would be perfect--my personal tailor.

It's funny as I just saw my bespoke tailor in L. A. gave him a very, very detailed list- DETAILED!!! I wanted a full break (I am ex-military and that's the way I like it). Tried them on yesterday and a wanted a pocket cut on the bias, I was quite specific even giving the bespoke tailor a detailed DETAILED list. Full break on the hem---nope, not even close! 2" above the top of the shoe. It's like did you read my list? He is going to correct these errors- how is going to turn cowboy pockets into pockets on the bias is a mystery to me but suffice to say won't be using him again. How someone can mess up a pair of trousers when I give him a WRITTEN VERY DETAILED LIST is beyond my comprehension. I sympathize with you Mr. MODERATOR!

I live in Houston, and my office is 3 blocks up from the Galleria where this Indochino is located. My go-to OTR suits and sports coats are mainly Zegna and Corneliani, but I just buy a 58L and have the tailoring done, which has always fit me fine (with those two brands). I've never tried a MTM program before. I decided to stop into Indichino to check out the MTM experience, and pickup a suit or two just to see what it was like. Thought I could grab something a little bolder than my typical attire, push my comfort zone a bit, without gambling the money involved in my normal Italian favorites. I left during the measuring processes. I had no faith what-so-ever, that anyone on the staff there had any competency level in measuring someone for a suit properly. I don't expect them to be master tailors or cutter, but I'd really love to see what the training is for one of these associates. It seems like for Made-To-Measure, everything hinges on the "measure" part of the process, and they should really be focusing on that.

Update* Just received the new suit yesterday. For the $299 sale price I bought this for, I absolutely couldn't be happier. For general information, I'm 6'3" 220 with a 48" chest, a 39" actual waist and typically wear a 36x34 in a pant. So I typically have a good bit of tailoring done to anything OTR to get it dialed in to my liking. Jacket, all the way around, is a great fit. Perfect size through the shoulders, good slope for my build, proper pitch on the sleeve (again, for my personal build). Functional button cuffs right at the length I prefer and specified in the fitting process. Button stance is perfect, and waist taper is spot on. Vest is sized perfect. Length is just right. Good fit through the chest and a good taper for the waist, without being too snug. Pants were perfect on the leg opening and length. I haven't gained a pound since the initial fitting, but find the pants to be about a 1/2 inch too snug. Not too tight as to be uncomfortable, or straining, but I'll have them let out a tad in the future. Not even worth running downtown to Indochino for. They're close enough, I'll just drop them at my personal tailor next time I'm over his way. Construction and materials... is honestly pretty good. Handling back-to-back with one of my Canali or Zegna (mainline) jackets, it's clearly not in the same category. Much stiffer feeling through both fabric and construction. The Canali I compared it to, for example, seriously feels like wearing a long-sleeve T-shirt. It's sooo comfortable and naturally moving as it drapes on the body. The Indochino has a decently cut armhole, and had an overall good range of motion, but just doesn't measure up on overall feel and comfort. Part of that's due to what's simply lower grade fabrics, lining, and the "half-canvassed" construction. It actually does compare pretty well to a couple Hugo Boss and Brooks Brothers suits I own (which are fused construction). Blind folded, there's a clear difference in feel from my upper tier OTR full canvassed brands, but I can't truly mark any difference in feel, visible stitching quality, and other build elements between the Indochino and my lower tier OTR suits. I would absolutely buy 2 or 3 more suits like this from Indochino over a single fused suit from Hugo Boss, Armani Collezioni, Brooks Brothers, other fashion brands etc... One particular thing I would change is the lining material. It's not terrible, but is a 52/48% poly/viscose blend. At least it's nearly 50% viscose, so it should breath pretty well, but of course I would prefer 100% viscose or cupro.

I think this review summarizes Indochino very well. I have purchased most all of my dress clothing there and am generally happy with their concept of made-to-measure, the quality of material, and the prices. However, the clothing never fits close to what it is supposed to (even after several times of adjusting the measurements) and I often need to revisit their showroom tailor multiple times to get it right. I once had one of their tailors tell me to “just stick it in the wash and it will come out the right size.” At the end of the day, I am happy with the final product for what I paid, but I suggest to be prepared for months of fittings and extra tailorings if you want it to be just right.

From my experience -even as an employee-it took months until my fit was dialed in because of factory mess-ups. And every suit I got had quality issues. The side tabs ALWAYS broke and the fused jackets NEVER draped properly near the front button stance. It would behoove you all to avoid this brand and pay a little more for higher quality, full canvased suits elsewhere. The prices may be enticing here but it’s not worth it! I then went to have it “dialed-in” and it has been a mess trying to get things correct. Very frustrating and some of the fabrics pucker and bubble (that fused construction). However after going through the intimidating (at the time) process I got the suit in about 4 to 6 weeks and the suit had potential but the fit was absolutely off it was about 2 sizes bigger than it was supposed to be arms on the suit looks like 2 trash bags no exaggeration and when I contacted them I got a pretty smug reply about the fit I have to add I was out of town for two weeks before trying on so maybe a bit of it is on me but in the practice of good customer service as a big business the problem wasn’t corrected. I call it the suit with so much potential, I wore it only twice since April of 17 quick added point I took the suit to 2 different reputable tailors and it just couldn’t be corrected and I’m not even gonna start with the trousers. Interesting. And thanks for chiming in. With the help of my tailor, I would say that the pants fit great. However, the jacket needs some help, particularly in the pitch of the sleeve, the way the back lays, and the armholes being too low, which gives it a boxy look.

@@hespokestyle I agree with you what you said about the armholes being too low. The pitch of the sleeve is something that I wasn't aware of until now. I looked at it again and yes it needs some work. However, the jacket lays on the back perfectly. The jacket that I've gotten was Single-breasted not double. I am from the middle east and don't wear suits where I come from. I just wanted to get one for fun so I don't know a lot about suits :)

I'm a woman that wears traditional menswear and opted for Indochino a year ago vs. suit supply becaues SS was out of my budget. I regretted it and a year later, just went to SS yesterday. I had a horrible experience at Indochino. I expected sub-par but it was truly terrible. The measurements took well over 30+ minutes, multiple measurements for everything; just took a lot longer and I could tell he was inexperienced with measuring someone. Then, I overheard another associated talking to him about how he just spent all that time measuring me wrong because i'm a woman so the fit is different (duh?). I felt rushed while simultaneously being there so much longer than expected because of this. I'm in sales myself so overhearing them talk about this was inexcusable to me. When the suit came in, I was drowning in it. i went here specifically for MTM because I can't get menswear clothing for women and it was so off with the measurements. When I pushed back about how the bottom of the jacket should be breaking at my thumb/wrist, I got push back from the associate that it being longer (towards the tip of my fingers) was all fine and dandy. After the 2nd alterations came back, just like in this video, it was either TOO long or too short, etc. It's genuinly like they didn't listen at all to what I was wanting and couldnt get the measurements right. Finally on the 3rd attempt, I gave up. On the button down shirt I got, the buttons for the collar were literally uneven so one was up higher than the other and looked awkward - the waist was about 2 inches to big and the jacket was still longer. at that point I took the suit home and just said the hell with it. The shirt is decent but I've actually never worn the $400 suit I paid for because I don't even feel confident in it and it's beyond repair - the jacket cannot be shortened any more and it's just too large for me so at this point i'll have to donate it. My experience at SS yesterday was 180 degrees different; attentive, incredibly knowledgeable about measurements, timely, honest feedback, not pushy or rushed, and it was just well worth the $. Indochino gets worse and worse and I honestly just hope they close shop at this point.

Hey Brian A later comment. Recently I brought a so-called Half Canvased suit. I learned from my past experience that the half-canvas suits should pass the Pinch Test. In other words, the exterior fabric of the chest area should not be fused and separated from the canvas thus able to move. This should be quite explicit until I order this suit. The exterior fabric is fused to something and unable to pinch it as a standalone fabric as far as the tactile experience told me. There's no additional chest piece between the exterior fabric and the lining. This was a fused jacket to me. However, the tailor told me this is half canvased! It's just not floating canvas. And at that moment I realized I heard that notion once, and it's from you. You've mentioned Indochino suits are fused yet half canvased. I did some research and I found there are notions like fused half canvas and fused floating half-canvas and stiched floating half-canvas. Now I'm getting confused. I know this is probably a trivial question but it still bothers me, what exactly makes these constructions different and how can we discriminate them by not taking the suit apart? Thank you!

Totally agree with the review. Had a suit made a few years back. They made the pants wayyy to tight cause they thought it would look better on me instead of what I liked (I have big calves), and after 3 alterations with their tailor in store they refused to remake them. To this day I like the suit but rarely wear it because of the pants, jacket is decent.
