The transition of Harvey from a righteous attorney with his heart on his sleeve to the best closer in the city with emotions somewhat reserved shows how the personality changes with time , but not the person.

His degrading mental health (and overall health) in the later seasons is a subdued, but very real display of how the "best closer" persona he built was at odds with himself and greatly affected him. Which also explains how he behaved erractically when Mike was involved.

People don't change. In the end, Harvey followed Cameron Dennis' tutelage. Not Jessica's. Harvey was never fully heartless. Remember what Jessica said at the mock trial when she deposed him? You are a guy who believed that winning fairly was more important than winning. Any other cold blooded corporate lawyer would not care. A win is a win for them REGARDLESS if it was fair or not. Harvey never changed. He was going through phases. His phase of betraying Cameron Dennis and "being" a corporate lawyer was just a long phase up until he allowed Mike to take on probono cases alternatively with Corporate ones.

The problem with this is that sometimes you may be convinced someone is guilty but it turns out they aren't. That is why evidence and a separate judicial system is important so that mistakes aren't made and judgements aren't clouded. Not saying our system isn't flawed but it was well intended.
