I have been married to a Filippina for 30 years now so I think I know the people and the culture quite well. To Ave: I agree with everything you said... therefore the fact that you realise and understand these issues means that you have a big advantage over many Filippinas and a much better chance of having a great relationship! To Chad: Ohh man... I hope you understand and appreciate how lucky you are to have found Ave. She is really 1 in a million (I mean this only in the nicest way). A great vlog... really enjoyed it and could relate to it in sooooo many ways! :-) Please keep up the great work!!

Insightful video and thanks for sharing your experiences. I am the opposite of the Filipino guy mentioned by Ave except for the "family oriented" part. I love my family or my wife's side of the family to come over and stay with us for a visit. It is a precious time that me and my wife always cherish. We even offer our bedroom to them and me and my wife sleep in the living room. I think everybody's different.

She brought out some funny points that yes, I have noticed in our relationship as well. I find that even if I ask, sometimes Maly will not be forthcoming with what she is thinking. It can be very hard for someone like me who will speak their mind. This has also gotten me in the dog house as well. I have had to carefully choose what comments to make. Maly can get easily offended if I joke in the wrong manner with her. Things are taken very literally. All in all though, through 11 years of marriage, we have found ourselves happy and still going strong!

Interesting video from you guys. The expectations of youth make my Filipina wife of 28 years smile with the wisdom of hindsight! Of course time have changed dramatically since we first met 32 years ago, in those days we had to have a chaperone on all our dates! Remember a good Filipina is a blessing, myself and 5 other friends married Filipinas best part of 30 years ago ,5 of the 6 couples are still married, must be some sort of a record. Good luck to both of you!
@Suitstoshorts8 жыл бұрын
Wow that's great news Steve, congrats on your relationship. It's rare to hear such stories in this day and age. A chaperone? I am sure that was an adjustment for you during that time. Was it her parents or a friend?

Suits to Shorts It was her sister, or brother or sometimes both! I know families in the provinces, where the church still has a strong influence, who still frown on a young girl going out on a date by themselves . Our Philippine family were a bit taken aback by the frankness and independence of our now adult daughters, who were born and raised in Australia.

It's not always about money. Also, consider the future if you marry. Will you live in the PI, the states or wherever? There are advantages and disadvantages to both and not everyone can deal with those issues. The old saying that you can take the girl out of the bar but you can't take the bar out of the girl is true but re-worded...you can take the girl out of the Philippines but you can't take the Philippines out of the girl or vice-versa. You can take the guy out of the states but you can't take the states out of the guy. If you are an American and you die in the PI, where do you want to be buried? Family plot back home? Same for the girl living in the states. This is just one issue we don't think about until it's too late.

nice videos.. but be honest that a BIG difference is the financial situation between foreigners and locals. I accept it and keep it in mind when dating Filipina.. it's OK to want a stable life.. i just watchout for the Filipina that wants to take advantage.. mostly city girls and ALL bargirls.. not for serious dating
@Redhawk858 жыл бұрын
Good video, and no need to over-explain that it is just from your own experience/not judgmental or stereotyping. Anyway - it's good to know. I've known many filipinas over the past 11 years or so and some things for foreigners to watch out for is getting scammed. I know this isn't directly your topic but wanted to share it. I think the part about filipino people is true from what she said, but I would emphasize because you are foreign (particularly Western) you will be thought to have money and hence subject to scamming. I am pretty good but they can be EXPERT at it, and it happened to me. Live and learn - fortunately I have met numerous filipinas who are considerate, honest and a lot of fun but always always watch out if you're looking for a relationship.
@Redhawk858 жыл бұрын
One fast red flag (even I would say the Jolly Roger flag) is if they start asking for money. When it is soon after you met, no-go instant. Good scammers will ask maybe only a little for a reasonable situation/believable story and will go on from there... BE PARTICULARLY careful if she needs money for an annulment... will quote you really high and could easily just take your money. Again. Happened to me.

I met a Filipina online; visited her and her family a few times. I then sold my lake front house in the USA and moved to Manila. I bought a new house in Laguna Bel Air III and lived with her entire family in the new house. I invested in many businesses for the family (3 jeepneys, sari-sari store, internet cafe and a loan business). I lived in Sta Rosa for 18 Months and then I needed to go back to the USA to file personal income taxes and other personal business. While I was gone my wife went to the bank and emptied the account. Joy went on 'vacation' with all of the money I had left in our CitiBank account. My wife had a good time with her boyfriend in the Philippines while I was in the USA. I forgave my wife and worked on her immigration papers to live in the USA. My wife came to the USA with a green card and six Months later she left me one final time wanting a divorce. While I was in the away from our bedroom, my now ex-wife wrote down all of the credit card information and tried to use my credit cards while she was in the Philippines visiting family. My ex-wife admits to three different extramarital affairs (only because I saw pictures of her with these men). Joy’s bff, told me it was more like 12 different guys over the six year marriage. My ex-wife had a heart murmur and could not breathe well; thanks to me and my money, she had surgery and is healthy now and living in the USA. I wasted well over $200,000 USD on her. The house in Laguna Bel Air III is now for sale….

The reasons for Filipinas change of heart are: badly broken hearted with Filipino, economic reason and racial changes.
@luzvimindabundok73938 жыл бұрын
That was painful to hear and follow. There is a difference: 1) The one in a "shacking up relationship" 2) still "in a courtship stage". When you are in a sexual relationship, regardless of race, there is an assumption of "ownership". When it is not sexual there is a lot of respect for one another; no one seems to impose values on the other. I was born and raise in the Philippines. I live in the US now but I do go back and forth to the P.I. for work. I notice more and more that the Pinays that are in a "shacking-up" relationship with a foreigner are almost always less educated and impoverish. They are in a care-giver role. Pinays that are shacking up with "kapwa" Filipino are treated like they own them regardless of the economic status. But less happening to a careered Filipina.

Recently, I am seeing a lot of videos about "Filipino women " or "Filipinas" dating foreign guys from both local and expat vloggers and I think as a local guy, I should comment. First of all, what kind of "Filipino women" are we talking about here? There are basically 3 major groups of Filipinas. 1. Highly-successful Filipinas that include licensed professionals in top management jobs, and successful business owners and entrepreneurs. They share a small percentage of the entire single Filipina population. This group will never date or marry an old expat who is living off his pension. You see the reason why. 2. Working Filipinas. These women have decent jobs like regular jobs in manufacturing, hospitality, government, and other private sectors. These women can support themselves financially. I've been working with Filipinas in their early 20s to middle 30' for more than two decades now and I can say 100% that no one of my current 65 young female subordinates would date a 60-year-old expat who is living off his pension. This group is the happiest group of women. Here in Luzon, they comprise more than 70% of the single Filipina population (excluding students), and more than 60% of single female college graduates in Bacolod, Cebu, and Iloilo. 3. And then we have the third group. Single moms, jobless, and uneducated. Now, because of their given financial and economic condition, I say 9 out of 10 of them will likely date a 60-year-old expat. There is also a very small percentage of the single Filipina population who fall in this category. Let's add call center agents who are tired and exhausted from their jobs. Since they are exposed to foreigners, there is also a possibility that they would date an old expat. Why I am explaining this? Because whenever a vlogger mentions "Filipina", we should not generalize all Filipinas. People who date foreign old expats are not the embodiment of the whole single Filipina population. Let's be real. This may sound offensive but the only reason a Filipina would date an old expat is that they want to survive. There's nothing wrong with this as long as the Filipina is not scamming her partner. Again "Filipinas" mentioned by these vloggers (local or foreign vloggers) are not the embodiment of the whole single Filipina population.

When I hear that Filipinas are very family centered implying that expats are not. The way I look at it is that as an American I am very family oriented. We just define a family differently. A filipino family is very expanded. Filipina's mother, father, brothers, sisters. cousins and add ons. An American family is father, mother and children
@juliustiangson26687 жыл бұрын
Bob Mason.....let me clear this family thing for you.....I am Filipino American.....White American's kick their kids out of the house at 18 years old wither if they are economically able or not and the "White kids" put their parents into "nursing home" when they are deemed a burden to the "kids".......Filipino parents do not kick their kids out of the house....they support them until they are "fit to leave the house" and the Filipino kids does not even "cross their mind" to stick their parents into "nursing homes" when they get old....it is "automatic and a must" that the kids must take care of the "parents' wither they are a burden or not........so that is your difference......and yes that is why we are Filipino's because our family "values" is much deeper than the "white people" who is more "super fake"......when it come to family.....ask an "average" White American if they know who their 1st cousins are or their second cousins....and this is what you get..????????????? aaaaaaaahhhhhh I don't know????????????? and that's the truth.....

My heart breaker was Filipino, I thought he was single,after he got me I discovered that he's married and got 6 kids. Since that I avoid to have a relationship with Filipino man. Just so afraid that they are all liars .maybe that's why until now I am still single

blah blah blah. difference is filipino for the most part don't have money. foreigner has money. end of story no need to to go into details. you should be suspicious of a pinay that goes after foreigners only
@zagzag81688 жыл бұрын
lets not make it about race superiority or anything like that 'I'. all i'm saying is don't beat around the bush and give example after example of why a pinay would prefer to go after a foreigner, 9 out of 10 times is money. one more thing to you foreigner, if your going to the Philippines for the purpose of buying your wife/gf why do you always choose the yaya/ squatter looking pinay. ? lol easier to control the poor and uneducated

xbob xbob Bohoo! Did you get jilted by your pinay gf to a 70-yr old balding white male that's why you're so bitter? It's ok dude, Filipinos aren't everybody's cup of tea even for a Filipina.
@zagzag81687 жыл бұрын
lol an educated and financially stable woman would have no need for a 70yr old balding white male. lol so no, im not jilted or bitter but nice try.

i love my pinay wife, but i know, and so do most of you, know the truth of their drama. oh so much drama, world champs of it. aside from that, they just like any other people around the world, give and take such and such stuff. you got to avoid the drama though, or you will be miserable as long as you are with her. if its not her drama, its her family's or her friend's. they love it, they crave it. they would even kill for it, its their addiction drug of choice. they love their poison/drama. take it away and they rather die, they live for it. north american women expect to be queens and princesses, to be put on a pedestal. pinays expect to play the drama game. its mostly a make believe story they live out in their imagination that has little to do with reality. resembles reality but twisted here and there to deviate from the path of the real truth. if you go to far down that path, you are lost forever and will have to lobotomise yourself to keep her, or challenge her to bring her back to reality. if they love the drama to much, you will lose her and you humiliated her by calling out her game. got to know how to spar without battles or you will suffer and lose. just leave her if you dont know what you are doing. and dont pretend you do if you dont know their culture like you know your math cuz they will beat you down with experience. their drama math is not of any other world on this planet. they have already aced it while you are not even a C- yet. if you know what you are doing and can keep them on the right path, she will be ok. dont let them get lost in their own drama world. not easy tho. dont kid yourself when you find a nice pinay that seems drama free but likes to go out all the time, party party party. friends friends friends. wrong. they love the atmosphere, not the people. they dont have friends, they are only there to party. if you dont show up for the party, you are nothing. if you show up for the party, you are still nothing but a face in the crowd and they love the crowd. the bigger the better. this type dont count friends, they count faces, only. fb lists in the hundreds or even thousands, all strangers. dont know anything about any of them. careful if they never have an opinion. if you can get your woman to talk to you in a conversation, thats a rare thing for a pinay. "im just listening" they always say. to what? i stopped talking five minutes ago! most of the time its cuz they have low self esteem, insecure or shy. they are not really taught to interact [other than joining the party] they mostly just go along with the flow. thats not all bad, most mean no harm by it, the rest just dont care and are just along for the free ride in between the parties. hope that helps. what to look out for, good and/or bad. good luck but use more skill to have good fortune.
