We’ve been married since 2010 a week before I headed off to Afghanistan, which I’d just left Iraq 10 months before that; met and lived together in ‘07 when I lived and worked in Asia, so have been together long time. Moving to RP next Spring for s long while, perhaps permanently, from WA in the U.S. , with Palawan a possibility (been there several times) , but main considerations for our then 5 yr old son. So want to learn from others about Now, as I lasted lived and worked in RP in 90’s. Way different now. Keep the info coming!

Yes be careful (like you would have to be ANYWHERE- including home (USA) - WHERE LOTS of marriages/relationships end up being a war for the $$$$$ or worse) but on the whole if you are careful and use a common sense win-win approach you can find a wonderful person to be in a great relationship with here. The guys that usually get scammed refused to use their brains at all and showed NO respect for the filipina or her culture. I have been around the block MORE than a few times here. Been there, life in Visayas can get boring, and in general the country is much more 'trashy' than Thailand - from my exp... The only thing is if you are tired of good food and the Thai language tones - or lacking in English - then the Philippines may be a good one for you. Personally I find that many of the expat 'Kano's' in Philippines are so typical and cheap drunk pu''y chasers- most retired former military, and a few real stupid guys that could never get a young woman any other way ! I also own via lease - a beautiful beach lot on Bohol that may be available for lease or sale - pretty spot w/ 20-coconut trees - $30K best of luck there ! Thailand also is much safer - seen too much in Phils - I know too much about this topic - not pretty....
