Life is simple if you dont make it complicated 1) his family pressurized him to take up some elite job, he could have said no or Rebelled (like he did for the girl he married) jyada se jyada kya hota coz i feel his family helped him escape, using connections anyway 2) it was still understandable that he lied to air force and was living good life abroad, atleast he had not killed anyone then 3) bad financial decisions and unemployment could have been overcome with the help of his wife's job , but NO he was greedy
