It's one of those moments where maybe she could've come up with an excuse of some kind or some other way to refuse him, but it's not as if she had any way of knowing that it'd work. And, honestly, she was absolutely being manipulated behind the scenes without even fully realizing it.

Or she could’ve told Hurrem herself and Hurrem would’ve prevented it. She decided to keep it a secret from her friend. Thats the betrayal. We all understand noone can say no to the sultan but there are other ways of saying No to him without actually saying no. Gulnihal wants to be a sultana just like Hurrem and Hurrem should understand not everyone is meant to serve or want to be a slave. She could’ve been nicer and understood Gulnihal’s point of view. In the end. Gulnihal was wrong for her decision. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Either the women are chosen by his people or by him personally. You cannot refuse without a good reason. You were chosen as a concubine to go into the harem, the concubines purposes are to provide heirs. So it is not a betrayal

False, she did agree to go after they convinced her she had a chance to come up in the hierarchy if she got pregnant. She refused to go at first but agreed once they compared her to Hurrem, saying she could be like her. I do however agree with this narrative though, why shouldn’t she make the most of her time? She’s a young woman just like Hurrem who must use her time wisely, or remain a forgotten servant for the remainder of her life. The choice was however hers at the end of the day 🙏🏼

Btw, Gulnihal started being jealous to Hurrem a way before, when she saw Hurrem getting luxurious presents from Sultan. She has run to Sumbul to teach her, to accept Islam and to gen new muslim name. Hurrem paved the way, and instead of just staying with her, Gulnihal just repeated Hurrem's tactics (instead of coming up with own one), got jealous and wanted to become another Sultana, which obviously would put her against Hurrem and make them enemies. Despite this fact, she was okay to become an enemy to Hurrem, which took her out of other concubines as the closest and trusted person around (which was the best option for Gulnihal and the highest position to be provided by Hurrem for that period)

And Hurrem never did the same to Makhidevran, because: 1. They were not friends, and moreover, Mahidevran was aggressive to Hurrem from the first time. 2. Hurrem did not know there was Makhidevran at all. 3. It was Hurrem's only one chance to survive (and for Gulnihal too, because they were together). 4. Hurrem did not the rules of harem. On the other hand, Gulnihal was in harem a way longer then Hurrem for the moment to be invited to Suleiman's room. She must have known how to reject the invitation (periods, for example), or that Hurrem could prevent it for being strong enough in terms of power and hierarchy. At least, she could know that this is not an invitation from Sultan, but just a game against Hurrem, because Gulnihal was not a simple concubine for halvet - she was a right hand of Sultana. And she knew how it would hurt Hurrem, and that she would become a Sultana is she got pregnant and give a birth. Even when they were dancing for Sultan, and he had chosen Hurrem, Gulnihal did some hypocritical comment, and Hurrem mentioned how jealous Gulnihal was. This comment was innocent for us as watchers, and Hurrem's answer seemed aggressive at first. But coming to these later series, I noticed that Hurrem's aggressive response to gHulnihal during that dialogue was not added randomly.

And we see, Hurrem was trying to kill Gulnihal even without knowing that Gulnihal was that secret concubine. It shows, that Hurrem definitely realized everything (Gulnihal was not around all the night while Hurrem was giving a birth; she always goes away somewhere with Sumbul and leaves the prince, so Esma probably informed Hurrem). So probably, Hurrem just gave Gulnihal a second chance to confess and letting Gulnihal know that Hurrem knew everything, but Gulnihal just went on with hiding. And how she got interested when Sumbul was telling her about becoming Gulnihal sultana. Neither the betrayal, nor even the fear of death did not stop her from doing the same mistake twice. And why Sumbul was trying to convince her with all that sweet talk instead of just strictly cutting the dialogue since this is the wish of Sultan? Probably this shows, that refusing the halvet with sultan is not such an impossible thing, if you have a serious excuse. So Hurrem would come up with this excuse if she ever knee, right?

I think the most striking thing between all the other women and hurrem was the pillowtalk. Whenever Hurrem spent the night with Suleiman they wouldn't just be like bang-bang deeds done off you go. They would actually talk to each other about personal things. Not even Mahidevran was shown sharing such intimate conversations with Suleiman

If both Mahidevran and Hurrem put half their jealousy into positive actions and working together, they could have ruled the world. Mahidrevran is a pitiful silly woman in this series, so whiney instead of doing something to try and win her husband back. He's bored by your attitude. Hurrem, understands the game but, lacks subtlety that she will learn in her older years. Mahidevran seems to not understand the assignment. Sultan's job, rule and cast his seed out. He needs heirs. Infant mortality, disease, and unfortunately "accidents" often culled many heirs. The more a dynasty had, the more chance of the family line continuing and maintaining rule.
